Loved it here when I came I. The summer with the fam.
There’s only a handful of spots that are probably worth visiting in Amherst and this is one of them.
The bbq was really good. We got the ultimate platter and some extras on the side. The ribs were tasty, juicy and tender and the chicken wings we added on was actually really good too. Pulled pork was tasty but didn’t stand out in my mind.
The sauces were really unique. The blueberry apple one was slightly sweet and gave that extra level of sweetness to the bbq’d food. But the sauce to try is the root beer one. I love root beer already and I enjoyed this sauce the most
Service was great. Super friendly and food came very quick. Came in as two families and we both got our entire orders within 15mins of each other. This was 2 families totaling 8 people.
Parking was very easy as it isn’t a super busy town but a nice place to stopover for a quick bite or on your way to somewhere else.
Just to note, in Amherst majority of places close really early, other than the Walmarts and fast food places, so be weary when planning on where to eat.

I had the Pulled Pork Poutine which is awesome. The meat was beautifully cooked, tender and flavorful, great fries and a wonderful gravy served separately. Well worth the cheat meal!

First time here… food was ok. I ordered baked beans and corn bread with pulled pork sandwich with apple blueberry sauce. It was supposed to come with coleslaw on sandwich but it barely had any. The sandwich flavors were good but it was dry. Just felt like there wasn’t any love put into building it. Beans were really good and corn bread was decent, though I was expecting bread to be warm, but it was cold, which I was disappointed about. Overall I feel like this place has potential… just needs someone who cares making the sandwiches. Or maybe I just caught them on a bad day.

I was initially very excited to try this place as ribs are one of my favorite foods but I was left disappointed the prices are overpriced forbwjat ypu get. the food you get was very disappointing the ribs were very thin litte to no meat on it more bone snd far than meat and they also left the membrane on the ribs which causes it to be very chewy also very dry ribs my husband got a chicken burger that had absolutely no sauce on it the only good part of the meal where the fries even the cornbread was a disappointment I had High Hopes as we walked in it smelled very delicious also we visited on a weekday and still waited about 15 minutes until somebody came and talked to us to take our order

Best southern BBQ around!! What a gem, food is fantastic!! I had the pulled pork sandwich which was really flavorful! My friends had a full rack of ribs, brisket with corn bread and Mac and cheese on the side and they were super pleased with their meals! The coleslaw is some of the best I’ve ever had. The atmosphere could use a bit of work. There is no background music and lighting is poor. It looked like they recently painted so hopefully the vibe will improve. We waited well over half an hour for our food, other customers that came in and sat down after us got their food faster but also had ribs, so not sure why we waited. The server did apologize for the wait, which was thoughtful. Will definently be back, but recommend ordering to go or calling in advance for takeout.

At Our Backyard BBQ, we indulged in the Ultimate Platter, designed to feed 4-6 people, and the generous portions left us with plenty of leftovers. Come hungry, as they serve delicious and ample portions of well-loved meats. Despite not typically being a fan of roasted chicken, I was awed by their perfectly roasted bird with its crunchy, well-seasoned skin and moist meat, elevated by a delightful blueberry apple sauce. The slow-cooked beef brisket, full of flavor and color, and the wooden-smoked half-rack, with its fall-off-the-bone goodness, were equally fantastic. The indoor ambiance, reminiscent of a summer park with wooden picnic tables, chairs, and aromatic wooden cuts, added to the overall experience. A good recommendation by the owner was an added plus, and we will definitely return to try the smoked burger next time. However, the washrooms could use more attention to cleanliness and tidiness.

Preface: In early October 2024, I visited this location around 2 pm, only to be told the smoker was ‘broken’ and no food could be served. I especially made sure to visit this location in the future, as smokehouse type bbq restaurants are quite scant in the maritimes. Today, I had the opportunity to finally try it.
I parked my vehicle in the closest available parking near the front door. The restaurant is located in a strip mall type setting, and parking is ample.
Upon exiting my vehicle, I find an intact, functioning cell phone. I entered the restaurant and presented the phone to the cashier, telling him I had found it outside. He looks at me and says,’What am I supposed to do with that?’ As I presented it to him.
After an awkward exchange, I placed my order. A steak cut brisket, mashed potatoes, and a piece of cornbread, which amounted to 23$.
After a few minutes, my order appeared on a diner tray. The presentation was beyond deceiving and underwhelming. The potatoes were without starch structure and very watery, with a slight bit of garlic flavor. The cornbread was drier than a desert day, and it felt like sandpaper rubbing against the surfaces of my mouth.
The worst, though, was the brisket itself. It was very fatty, and covered with a very acidic bbq sauce, which completely ruined it for me.
As far as the restaurant itself goes, the dinning room consists of picnic tables and a few high chairs by the window. The restaurant is clean, well lit, and the menu is drawn in chalk, lending to it a rustic element. The bathrooms were clean and tidy.
Customer service was cold and indifferent, as described in my initial encounter.
Overall, I personally wouldn’t try the menu item I chose. I would perhaps try their other offerings, but as it currently stands, I’m not sure I would go out of my way to visit again. Honestly, with it being the only thing I’ve consumed today, it’s left me quite queasy. I can’t directly attribute this to the restaurant or the food itself.

I placed my order online and when I checked my credit card it was more than I thought it should be. After 17 minutes of sitting outside in the parking lot of what appeared to be a very slow evening I decided I would go in to see if it was ready. I was informed they are just starting it now?? Well that’s pretty bad service I think we would all agree. After finally receiving my meal I request my recite so I could try and figure out why the totally seemed high. I was told that the extra fees are from door dash. I ordered from your website and picked my order up I stated to the counter person. He said ya that’s door dash though. So I then asked if I would have called my order would have been 15 bucks cheaper ? He basically didn’t give me an answer to my question. So that was 2 times now I felt like this place is an establishment I’ll never be returning to after my first trip. Before I left I thought I should probably confirm my order is correct so I asked the counter person to double check it for me. He did and said yes all is right. Guess what lol. It wasn’t ! My sauces where in correct. I had ordered several flavours and received 3 of the same kind. As for the meal it was pretty much the frozen food section from Costco. “brined and locally grown potatoes” pfff ya ok boys is that what you copied from the bag of frozen ones?? Over all it was a complete waste of time and money. Do you self a favour and keep going to Macdonald’s you will be much more satisfied!
