OLLIE’S TO GO – UES

  3.8 – 121 reviews  $$ • Chinese restaurant

Social Profile:

The first Ollie’s restaurant opened in 1989 with the goal of bringing cuisine from Chinatown up to the Upper West Side. It wasn’t long before the concept was proven; soon hundreds of hungry Columbia students would fill the restaurant everyday in between classes. Ever since then, Ollie’s has left its mark throughout Manhattan. Ollie’s To Go UES is the first extension of Ollie’s to the east side of the city. While we have felt right at home serving our customers on the west side for almost 30 years, it was time to branch out and offer the residents of the Upper East Side a higher standard for Chinese food. Expect the same delicious offerings at our other locations, with the addition of a sushi bar as well.

I ordered chicken and tofu with the bean sauce and egg drop soup for lunch. The was plenty of silken jelly like tofu in an oily red sauce with 7 black beans in it but no chicken. I opened it at work and did not have time to return. The soft form of tofu that had a consistency and texture of a pudding was tasteless and unappetizing. Egg drop soup was unnecessary thicken with starch. It can be me but will not come back.

It’s a shame since this was once our go-to Chinese delivery. We will never be ordering from Ollies ever again. The past few times we have ordered the order arrives wrong. It’s always missing key items. Most recently, no noodles were received for the pan fried noodles entrée, no dumpling sauce was included in the order, no scallion pancake sauce was included, the hot and spicy chicken seems of lower quality on the past few deliveries and two of the appetizers wasn’t even in the bag. The lack of customer service was the icing on the cake. They could care less when we called. They just kept insisting that we go through Uber eats, rather than making it right. Ubereats was of NO HELP. They fought us on everything and ended up getting the cost of an appetizer refunded, when i feel the entire meal should have been refunded since every item was missing something. Do yourself a favor and do not order from here unless you enjoy being frustrated and missing food.

Responding to google reviews but not taking responsibility for the GARBAGE CUSTOMER SERVICE. Uber eats compromising my info had nothing to do with being spoken to by both cashier & manager without grace. If someone tells you they’re in fear of their address being leaked without consent, DONT GIVE THE CUSTOMER ATTITUDE ABOUT A FOLLOW UP RESPONSE. I could’ve been told Uber eats was to blame the same day i reported it NOT be told to call for the manager, only to have that same line repeated the next day.

Decent quick meal on the Upper East Side. Ordered the roast duck, roast chicken and roast pork over rice with a side of wonton soup for pick-up. Can’t beat the lunch special only $11.95 for it all. Wasn’t a big fan of the Wonton soup, but everything else was delicious! Definitely will order again in the future and try some of the other items on the menu.

Deliver driver was extremely rude, hostile and made me feel unsafe. He refused to hand me my food until he saw my receipt and then proceeded to rip the receipt in my face. I was extremely shocked. I never experienced anything like this in my life. Plus the food was way too mediocre and over priced for him to be acting that way. Never ordering again. Please stay safe.

We just ate there. Only went because we remembered the original Ollies from early 90s. Chow Fun, shrimp Lobster Sauce and another dish had No taste. Complete waste of money…..

Literally tried to order over the phone and she’s yelling at me for no reason… They lost some orders and a good customer. There are other places in the area.

Hot and sour soup was the best I’ve had in a LONG time, and I’m not exaggerating. (I’m a picky eater esp when it comes to Chinese food.) The portions are huge and the quality of the shrimp and meats were great. Spring rolls were fresh, crispy and flavorful! Def recommend!
