Tuesday evening and this place was busy when we sat down for dinner at 7.00pm. We enjoyed good service from our server and enjoyed several starters to share between the 4 of us. All of them good – as were the mains that followed. Rack of lamb cooked pink to perfection and very large with 8 pcs. Scallops also very nice and good chardonnay to accompany

What I imagine a iconic Florida supper club would be like. Classy, good food and special occasions that you celebrate with family or friends. We love Christmas Eve dinner here. Lobster thermador and it has become a tradition now. And it is a birthday celebration too. Staff is great drinks are great and owner is awesome!

Was recommended to go here while visiting the keys. Don’t make the mistake of stopping in. Service was good food was not. The building looks run down. We ate outside and the jet ski rental place kept engines running out of the water. Mushroom apetizer was horrible and never tasted the crab. Entrees were light on seafood. Sauces watered down. Worst of all was the garlic bread. The garlic was straight out of a jar, the rolls sat in a pool of butter and the jarlic. That’s 250 bucks down the drain for three people.

Caesar salad was good, a little plain however. Food lacked presentation but made up for it in taste. We got the Chicken and Shrimp Al Mare ($28) and the shrimp scampi ($28) and two drinks ($6). The dishes were quite delicious! It has a nice older and dim atmosphere and good variation of items on their menu ️

Another Islamorada original. Good food served in a dining room with real linen tablecloths! Brie was attentive, fun and arranged things exactly as we wanted!

We had dinner on a weekday night in early December. The restaurant has nice waterfront views but we ate well past sunset so everything was already dark.
We had a wonderful dining experience. Terrific ambiance, a nice menu, good portions, reasonable prices, and outstanding service. Kudos to our server Mario, who was super accommodating of food allergies and preferences, and made sure we had a great dining experience.
We enjoyed the yellow tail snapper, and also the shrimp with scallops in Thai sauce for dinner. The chocolate cake for dessert was wonderful.
This is a first rate restaurant with great food and service. We will definitely return the next time we vacation in the area.

We visited on Thanksgiving day and had the traditional meal. It was really good, but not fair to rate since it’s not thier usual menu. We had to wait a but to get to our table but I’ll attribute that to the holiday too. As they were one of few places open. After seated, our service was great, the turkey meal was really good and we had a wonderful table by the waterway. I’m grateful they were so accommodating on a holiday. Overall good experience.

Had dinner at The Old Tavernier recently, and it wasn’t great. Our server, Bree, however, was friendly and personable, but the food was meh at best.
My spouse (DF/GF) had grilled shrimp on GF pasta. She wasn’t sick after the meal which is always a positive when dining out, but the shrimp was waaay overcooked.
I had a Caesar salad, which was OK, and calamari, which was gross! The breading was like sandpaper grit – very dry and gritty, and so clumped on the tentacles that they were balls of grit instead of tender goodness.
Considering some positive reviews and their own hype on their web page, it was a very underwhelming and overpriced meal.
Almost forgot – I had their Old Fashioned, and it was an insult to the name; it was sweetened and had a crushed maraschino cherry (the fruitcake variety) – yuck!

We’ve visited Old Tavernier Restaurant many times and, overall, the food is decent. We typically prefer to dine in the bar area for a more casual experience rather than the main dining room.
Unfortunately, the last three times we’ve tried to eat there, we’ve felt deterred by the wait staff. Most recently, we were told they were extremely busy with lots of reservations, even though it was still early in the evening and there were several open tables in the bar area.
As locals, it’s disappointing to feel turned away in this manner. We always want to support local businesses, especially in a community that depends so heavily on tourism. We hope to see improvements in how walk-in customers are welcomed moving forward.
