Over all the food was awesome but everything’s already super expensive so I’d like to know ahead of time if I’m being charged for for tea or soda.
Waitress was nice but not very informative and if you only know English there’s definitely gonna be a language barrier. Would I come back yes but with a smaller “party” and more prepared
When we first arrived, we were seated in a friendly manner, but shortly after, the atmosphere changed. Several servers appeared to be staring at us in an uncomfortable way, which made us feel unwelcome.
Our food took quite a while to arrive. When it did, my wife received a fish dish that had a very strong and unpleasant smell. She did not taste or eat the food at all. She politely and respectfully explained that she was uncomfortable with the smell and appearance of the dish and asked if it could be sent back. She was calm and courteous throughout the interaction.
Instead of simply accommodating the request, a server approached her in a confrontational manner, repeatedly questioning what was “wrong” with the dish and implying that there was nothing wrong with it. The interaction felt unnecessary and dismissive. The server then walked away abruptly.
We were then informed that we would still be charged for the dish, even though it was not eaten or touched. We were told we could take it to go, which made no sense, as my wife had already made it clear she did not want the food.
A manager (or possibly the owner) later came to our table and stated that “the house never loses” and that they do not take plates off the bill unless there is something clearly wrong, such as a hair in the food. He also explained that servers are charged for returned plates and may take the food home. While we understand that every restaurant has its own policies, this was communicated in a rude and unprofessional manner.
It is reasonable for a guest to decline a dish they are uncomfortable eating, especially when it has not been touched. Being charged for food that was never eaten, combined with the dismissive and confrontational attitude from staff and management, left us feeling disrespected.
We value good service and understanding, especially when guests are polite and reasonable. Unfortunately, this experience fell far short of that expectation.
Try a michelada, agua chile (verde is my fav), and tacos . Our favorite waitress is Sarahi!
Our go to place for birthdays, ladies night or happy hour !
our favorite dish is the aguachiles.
