When a place says they have fresh oysters in Central Texas, I am a little weary – and I always wait a couple days to leave a review to be sure they were really good. This is probably the best restaurant in Kyle! The menu is a bit confusing, somewhere between Thai, Cajun, and fresh seafood. Easy to get a good parking spot, there was no wait for a table (didn’t call ahead or check in), the service was excellent. The food was fresh and delicious. Lots of flavors, big portions, and loads of veggies. Every table was laughing and having a good time, even the bar tender was engaging with people. A rare and delightful experience.

This was our second visit to Ocean Blue & it did not disappoint. I had the delicious broiled shrimp & catfish platter and my family enjoyed the Thai food! Big portions & decent prices! Our server is always so attentive & sweet. I’m so happy to have a good seafood place in Kyle!

For a long time, I had no desire to try Ocean Blue Oyster Bar. I was not impressed by the crab shacks that previously occupied the space. My boyfriend felt the same. However, Ocean Blue’s menu looked good, and eventually, I told my boyfriend I wanted to try it. It took him a little more time to agree.
On Friday, February 20, we finally entered the restaurant hungry from a busy day. My boyfriend got the Drunken Sailor. I didn’t sample it, but I can tell y’all this: He ate every last bite of his on his plate. I ordered the stuffed flounder. It came with rice, green beans, broccoli, and garlic bread. I was impressed with the number and assortment of sides. As someone who makes amazing garlic bread, I was underwhelmed by the bread. Everything else was great! I boxed up some of my meal to eat the next day. We left knowing we would be returning, for sure.
Just over a week later, my boyfriend and I headed back over to Ocean Blue in Kyle to celebrate a special occasion. Briana was our server, and she was truly OUTSTANDING. My boyfriend and I had the shrimp fried rice. The fried rice is served as a huge mound (love the portion size!). The shrimp were large and plentiful. The fried rice was absolutely delicious! We split the fried banana dessert…also, yummy (and enough for four people although the two of us devoured it, lol).
I don’t write a plethora of reviews. In fact, I think this is my first review of a restaurant. However, with the winning combination of scrumptious food, fantastic prices, and exceptional service, how could I not share the experience?!?!

I was here Wednesday for lunch (01/21), they had dollar oysters and they were very tasty! I also ordered the crawfish ($14/lb), 10/10 very good!

I tried this place for the first time yesterday, and was extremely underwhelmed.. I ordered a McConauhaze and a dozen Ocean Blue Oysters. The oysters were overcooked, small and rubbery. They actually showed up before my beer. Our waiter then came back and said they were out of the McConauhaze I ordered, so I ordered a Big Wave. Then, the waiter and bartender both walked over and said they were also out of Big Wave… so I just ordered a Coors Light in the bottle.. My wife ordered the garlic Shrimp and said it was OK..it was kind of weird, just fried shrimp with a sauce in a bowl on the side.. I ordered the Seafood Stuffed Flounder. Stuffed is a stretch. It was 2 filets that were over cooked and rubbery (I could have used a knife) with something smeared in between them. Not good at all and very disappointing.. Pic is of my leftovers which made their way to the trash..

Satisfied We had great experience with delicious and tasty food. I was craving for crawfish and salted crab and shrimp papaya salad(Isan Style). And my friends had ordered their fried Salt and pepper shrimp and Salmon Salad.
The waitress gave us the best service, the quality and the price were just right.

We went here for Valentine’s Day hoping for a chill experience since we knew all the local chains would be insanely busy. We were seated right away by Jaime who took amazing care of us throughout our visit. (We went early, the place did end up filling up but by the time we left there were still only a few people waiting.) We started off with some (HUGE) raw oysters which were absolutely delicious and so fresh. My partner got a fried seafood platter and I got a seafood stuffed flounder and everything was wonderful including the portion sizes. We took home the fried banana dessert with vanilla bean ice cream and that might be one of the best desserts I have ever had. We devoured it over our kitchen island immediately when we got home. WELL worth every penny spent. A couple standouts were the fact that they have a fully stocked bar, Jaime’s impeccable service, and their special “salsa” I can’t remember the name but anyone would be amiss not to ask for it. It was delicious on EVERYTHING, no spice to it at all at least in my opinion but just so tasty and fresh. 12/10 recommend and we will definitely be back to visit ASAP. Thank you all!

Welcome to Kyle! Such an amazing addition to the area. The service was very warm and friendly! They did note their menu was going to be updated to be more easier to navigate through. Make sure to order your papaya salad mild cause oh it is spicyyy! The crawfish was amazing! The crawfish was so fresh and the shrimp was huge! The best seafood boil I have had in Kyle hands down! There was a bit of a wait for the seafood boil but…so worth it! So make sure you order some appetizers to hold you over. The oyster po boy was delicious! Their food has a Thai fusion so remember to take your pure Cajun hat off and just enjoy the delicious flavors! We enjoyed the mango sticky rice too! We will be back for the friendly service and nice ambiance. The food is so good! Make sure you come early cause it gets pretty crowded in the evening.

I might go back to try again, but maybe not. I ate there an hour before closing on a Thursday night and started off with a half dozen oysters. Two of them were much smaller than the others but the worst thing was they were limp and felt soggy. The ice on the plate was half melted like it had been sitting around a while. Got a fried shrimp plate and should have noticed on the menu that it was not battered but fried in corn meal. Not what I wanted. If I do go back I’ll try their Asian dishes.

This was my first time here, and I got the shrimp cocktail and chicken satay and both were absolutely delicious! With the shrimp cocktail, you get one large shrimp and what seemed like a 1/2 pound of smaller shrimp in the bowl. Most I’ve ever seen, it and the pico salsa they were in was so good! The chicken Satay was well seasoned and the peanut sauce was so good I asked for more! I was by myself this evening and sat at the bar and Robert took great care of me, making sure I had all that I needed, and keeping my water glass filled. I’ll definitely be back.
