I enjoyed the classic Braised Oxtail, served in a rich, flavorful sauce that was perfectly complemented by a bowl of traditional Rice & Peas and a side of steamed vegetables, all for a reasonable $29. The dish was authentic and satisfying, showcasing true Jamaican culinary excellence.
Adding to the ambiance was the Saturday night mix of live music, which created a lively and enjoyable atmosphere without overpowering conversation. It was the perfect soundtrack to a wonderful meal and made the night even more memorable.
Overall, La Veranda offers fantastic food, attentive service, and a vibrant atmosphere – I highly recommend it for anyone looking to experience authentic Jamaican cuisine in a welcoming setting!
I think the atmosphere could use some tweaking to make it more inviting. I enjoyed the music when I first sat down as it was reggaebut then it changed to disco. And it was a bit loud. I was there by myself but I can only imagine trying to have a conversation with someone with that volume. Even ordering was hard to hear.
Another thing is I know that the food is prepared to order but it’s definitely on the slow side. I ordered blackened salmon with rice and peas and some bammys. It took 40 minutes from the time I received my cocktail till I received my food. That is a long time considering that even cooking rice from scratch take 20-25 mins. Salmon doesn’t take that long and there weren’t very many tables ( maybe 5) in the restaurant at the time. So close to an hour from the time I walked until I was to eat. That’s a slow turnover of tables.
All in all, the food is definitely worth going for but don’t be in a rush to go somewhere else. Shout out to my server who was able to help with my order.
The restaurant’s service staff worked tirelessly to ensure that I was satisfied and even offered, then gave, me a side serving of avocado; gratis!
I highly recommend their food and intend on giving them another visit very soon.
Another amazing dinner 10.25.24. The escovitch snapper and brown stew snapper were delicious. The live band is so soothing to hear Lee and the band belt out beautiful
Another Great Dinner

1 meal we had was Escovitch snapper with bammy and 2nd meal Blackened Salmon with rice and peas and steam veggie. The only thing wish there was gravy. The salmon had a great crust and nuff flavor. Definitely get the pepper on the side.
On a Thursday right when they opened. We had the curried shrimp, the oxtail and margaritas. The margaritas were delicious. Our server was also very courteous. Looking forward to trying more dishes here.
