My family ordered over $70 worth of food which I thought was high for a family of 4 but if it’s good that’s OK. The problem was instead of egg rolls we got spring rolls and my 18$ large lo mein was only 2/3’s full. I see they are under new management so maybe that’s the issue . We never had had a problem there before. I suggest going to a different place for Chinese. There are plenty around . I for one will never be going back. they told my wife when she called that they don’t have spring rolls, but if you look at the picture they are clearly spring rolls.egg rolls are not smooth .

So incredibly disappointed in #1 Chop Suey. This was the only Chinese food in the area that I absolutely loved. Since they have been under new management, we gave it two tries and each time more disappointing than the next. It is so sad how I grew up eating at this restaurant and it has gone so downhill. Sad to say but we will never be back.

Used to eat here often, tried it a few months ago after change of owner, wasn’t thrilled. Tried to give them another go tonight.. Still just as disappointed. Don’t think we will go back again. I got the orange chicken. Definitely looked and tasted like it was cooked multiple times and covered in sauce just as many times in an attempt to cover it up. While the sauce was good, chicken was not. Beef fried rice was alright. Sweet and sour sauce was beyond dark compared to the brighter orange color it used to be. Egg rolls were beyond dried out as well. The Mongolian Beef was okay.. Sauce changed a bit in that too it seems. Counter guy is always friendly. Just a shame the food has gone down hill!

My 1st time here since new management. Very disappointed in the food. Way too overpriced for the quality. My Son was sick after eating the Shrimp almonding. I ordered ham egg fuyung and he accidentally made shrimp egg fuyung instead. Didn’t taste good. Way too expensive.

Definitely something changed! We loved their food for almost 2 decades . Ordered food Sunday night and it was horrible. Everything has changed – my kids didn’t even want to it eat . Time to find a new spot !

Honestly a sad day. Number One Chop Suey was an Oak Forest staple for decades. The change in ownership has been terrible. The new recipes for nearly every item is awful.

I have lived down the street from this place for 5 years with a monthly order of delicious food that I devour happily. However, this place is under NEW MANAGEMENT, and it shows. Their food is the unappetizing knock off version of the former managements food.

This was my favorite restaurant. Since moving away I would always order General Tso’s Chicken every time I came home to visit my parents. Today is the first time I’ve gotten food since the owners changed. It was horrible. Sauce mixed in with the chicken(not served separate) dark meat instead of white. I am so sad to see such a great restaurant fumble the ball on so many levels. They have lost a customer of 20 years.

This was our favorite place for 25 years. The new owners have changed everything. They used to have the best egg rolls, and the way they did their chicken dishes were fantastic. Now the egg rolls are awful, the general tso chicken is sub par, the chop suey is watery, and even the almond cookies are less than appetizing. We will not go back. They need to return to the original recipes that everyone knew and loved.

We’ve been getting our Chinese from them for 25 years. They had the BEST eggrolls you could ever put in your mouth. We get our order tonight and suddenly I felt like we went to Panda Express. The egg rolls were just cabbage and the general Tso chicken was mixed in the sauce (now with dark meat). All the food has changed from what we’ve enjoyed in the past. I called and asked what happened and was told there were new owners. They need to change their name to “Number 2 Chop Suey” because they’re not #1 anymore. Save your money and go to Panda Express instead.
