Wanted to go here after getting a delicious egg sandwich at their farmers market booth. Went on a Friday night during normal dinner hours and every table was full when gave me high hopes. I ordered their valenties special pasta and my girlfriend had the carbonara. The service was very slow although the server was apologetic about the slow service due to training new people. The pasta did not come with any any extras you might expect at an Italian restaurant such as bread or salad which you might expect for an entree costing $22. While waiting for our food we smelled something in the kitchen that was burning. One the food came came out we were again disappointed. The pasta was overcooked and mushy. Both of our dishes were bland and mostly flavorless with the bacon in the carbonara being burnt (possibly what we smelled earlier). We waited a long time for the check to the point where we had to get up and ask for it. Also witnessed another customer send their food back because it was cold and watched the server microwave it for them. Unfortunately this place did not live up the the high set by their farmers market stall

Came here recently and tried 2 different kinds of pasta; the staff were very nice and made a modification to my meal even though it was not a menu item- I ordered chicken on the vegetarian pasta, and I really appreciated them for that!
The area where I took issue is with the cleanliness of the establishment. The water glasses were not cleaned well, the floor was filthy and there was so much shed hair in and around the seats of the chairs, and lastly the bathroom was very dirty. There was pink mold around many of the surfaces. The food may be really great, but after I noticed all of those things, I didn’t find anything about the food appetizing. I would certainly be willing to try it again after some time. I understand that being short-staffed can affect these things.

Went on a Saturday just as they opened at 4:30. Was greeted outside by a friendly and welcoming staff member. This was our first time eating here so he took the time to explain the menu and how they make their pasta’s and pizza. We ordered two pasta dishes and a pizza so we could all sample some different things. It was absolutely amazing! Fresh made, flavorful and delicious. All three of us enjoyed our meals! Portions were big so we had a little bit of leftovers to take with us. We only make it to Blacksburg about once a month, but I can’t wait till we are in town again. I know where we will have dinner!

MUST TRY THIS PLACE! Food was incredible! For 4 people we split 2 pizzas and 2 pastas to share and let me tell you we had PLENTY of food. Everything was delicious. The carbonara pizza and pasta were incredible. I can’t wait to go back.

The carbonara pizza was very tasty, kinda wish I got the other version as the meat made it a bit salty. My partner got the pasta with sausage and it tasted great! I’ve had their carbonara pasta at the farmers market, and it is absolutely delicious. I plan on going there at least once, maybe twice a month!

I’m impressed by this gem!
The pasta is made with organic flour , the texture is very good and their sauce are delicious and fresh.
Highly recommend the pesto sauce from their own grown basil.
The owner has so much knowledge about all the ingredients and authentic Italian recipes that it was an amazing experience hearing from him.
Thanks so much for making our dinner special

Highly recommend Not Your Mama’s Pasta! I love their carbonara and pesto pasta at the Blacksburg farmer’s market, so I was excited to try the new restaurant. We ordered the zozzona pasta and carbonara pizza, and both were delicious. The ingredients are fresh, and the flavors make you feel like you are in Italy. I think it is some of the best food in the southeast (drove 6.5 hours from ATL to eat here). The owner Chris is also very nice and welcoming. Be sure to check it out!

Had a delicious dinner here; I highly recommend the zozzona! Service was quite slow, but I recognize that I went on a Friday night during homecoming so I’m sure there was a lot going on in the kitchen. My one suggestion would be to have black and red pepper and salt at the tables (although, I was seated outside so maybe they just forgot to put them out there). I don’t come to Blacksburg often but I look forward to eating here again!

We went on a Saturday at 5:30 and it was not busy. Initially we had an attentive waiter. Then we waited for an hour running out of water. Our waiter never came back. We asked another waiter about our drinks that hadn’t come. She asked what our order was. We got wine in tiny glasses. Only once did the waiter apologize for the wait saying they had a cook that had just come in. The noodles were ok but not exceptional. The pizza was ok, but small. Peppers and sausage were not tasty and incredibly small. We had to beg for any service the entire time. I went up to get the check and the waitress said she was planning to come our way, then we waited more. It was not exceptionally busy and we saw our previous waiter chatting with another waiter while we waited.
I lived in Italy for 3 months. Nothing on the menu or the food reminded me of Italy. I also worked as a cook in restaurants for 10 years. I would not be writing this review if they had been very busy and the wait staff was attentive or the food was exceptional. My husband was excited to take us based on the good reviews listed and photos of food. We were all disappointed.
