I had problem with my to go order, I called in talked to a young lady. She said no problem I’ll take your info come in when you can come in .
I live 30 mins away. I also had surgery that prevented me from driving.
I came in today to place my order and purchase more food for my family.
The owner said she threw out the old complaints because I waited to long and told me she is not a big corporation and the proceeded to suggest I was lying. I told her I wasn’t going to argue with her. I will no longer support their Business by spending my money here or come back . Terrible customer service. I will not support a business that treats their customers like this and neither should you!

We Love, Love, Love Norma’s Tacos & ate there often while living in Boardman. Even when I worked in Boardman, I loved picking up tacos for lunch. This place is the authentic & homemade salsas, picos, and hot sauces that go with everything else made from scratch. Her tamales are incredibly delicious. We usually end up getting the taco trio & sometimes the enchiladas. Anything on the menu is going to be excellent. They even have pop in bottles or from the soda machine in back. This was a lovely place to celebrate my nephew Brendan’s birthday.

Well, I have to lower my review, sadly, after stopping at Norma’s on Saturday, 4/27/24 and here is why:

After work I decided to stop for a carryout dinner. After reviewing the menu I finally decided on a burrito and a side of rice. When placing the order with a nice young lady, I requested that with my burrito, rather than having the sour cream placed on the item could they please provide it on the side. The young lady said “no problem”. Then I noticed on the order screen before payment that a side of sour cream had been ordered for an additional $1.25. When I questioned this, the young lady said, “oh, you don’t want the sour cream?”

I replied, yes BUT I do but not an additional side of it, just what comes WITH the burrito. So she removes the additional sour cream and again, I ask to have the sour cream that COMES with the burrito on the side where she once again places an order again for and addition 1 ounce of sour cream. When I questioned this again she replied, and I quote, “that’s how we charge for it on the side”. HUH?

So, you’ll charge me for a 1 ounce side of sour cream that COMES with my order and literally make me pay $1.25 additional for a condiment container.

WHAT?!?! Your kidding! I could understand .25¢, maybe even .50¢ but a dollar twenty five for a SMALL condiment container because I wanted it on the side. That’s insulting and a joke, no matter how much I understand how prices have risen since Covid.

That is GOUGING in my book! You could easily go to Sam’s Club down the street and get 500 of them for $20 – $30. I know, I used to work there. To charge your customers a fee THAT high for a small condiment cup is not good business and says a lot about how you truly feel towards your patrons.

NEVER AGAIN Norma’s! I’ve been coming here for a few years now but no longer.

Maybe I should have asked if I could bring my own container from home, since the burrito came WITH sour cream but apparently it’s a grave inconvenience for them to place it on the side and also a chance to make a bigger profit at their customers expense. Not with this guy.

Your food may be good, but it’s NOT THAT GOOD. I will not be back.

Original review from April of 2023:

Good little locally owned, unassuming Mexican restaurant at the end of a small stripmall that has a good menu selection and offers a more ‘fast casual’ style of dining but with a little more personal, homemade kinda flair. Up to the counter, order and they present your trays to you at your table once your food has been prepared. There really isn’t any table service and you get your own drinks.

The young lady at the counter was friendly, helpful and took the time to explain their operation, different sauces and options. Can’t thank her enough for that! Having ordered the Machaca Chicken burrito dinner for myself and the soft taco platter for my partner, we were pleasantly surprised by the homemade look and feel of the food presented and the generous portion sizes. My burrito was STUFFED to the gills and fairly flavorful and very filling as were my partners tacos. The refried beans were weak and just warm but the rice left a lot to be desired but not in a bad way, just a tad flavorless and plain looking.

Not a huge selection of drink options but enough to satisfy most tastes seeing as how they don’t serve alcohol.

I’m gonna say we are going back and are looking forward to trying some of the other selections.

*My only suggestion to Norma’s: PLEASE put up a sign thats actually on the building so you can be easily identified from the Market street. We drove by twice not realizing they were at the end of the strip, opposite Eat N Park. Only then do you see the pretty small sign on the strips big sign, identifying all the businesses within the strip.

Great lunch spot! Had the carne asada taco with chips and salsa. Chips were deliciously salty and had the perfect amount of kick. The meat was very tender. Horchata was awesome! Reasonably priced. (They don’t serve alcohol.) I’ll be back!

Very nice customer service food was good. Nice to see an incentive given for paying cash posted. Dining room closes at 430. I would have liked to sit there and eat but I understand it fits the business model to do so

We had driven past here many times and laughed at the name thinking “what would Norma know about tacos?”. Let me tell you, that was a mistake. I REALLY wish we had stopped here sooner as it’s way better than you’d ever expect from a place tucked into a little plaza. The flavor of everything was so very good and the portions are generous. The craft sodas from the fountain were a wonderful bonus. We will for sure be returning

Simple and amazing food! Great flavor and authentic taste! Prices are great especially considering serving size and quality of the food. Highly recommend to anyone who enjoys mexican food or anyone just looking to try something new. Family owned and run and my family and I are becoming regulars. I even got my kids to try and they love it! Picture is half eaten…..sorry couldn’t resist

This was my first time here. I don’t go out that way very often and I happened to be in the area and looking for something good for lunch. This popped up as it was by me, so I had to try it, and I’m really glad I did! The atmosphere was very nice and peaceful and very clean. All the staff I interacted with was very friendly and actually seemed happy to be at work, which is not common these days. Listening and watching the staff as they worked, I never saw a frown on anyone’s face and everyone was working together wonderfully and I seem a lot of smiles and laughter while people were working, and I really appreciate that kind of work atmosphere. I went to the bathroom after I ordered and paid and when I came out, my tray of food was sitting perfectly on the table next to my drink waiting for me. It looked very nice for taco, beans and rice. I got the regular beef tacos platter, the beef tacos tasted very good, like authentic mexico tacos. The beans were a color I wasn’t used to seeing at a Mexican restaurant, they were a light pink gray color and covered with melted shredded cheese. The taste was different than what you normally get also, but it was still very good. This is probably more authentic to what you would get in a country that serves that food regularly and hasn’t been so Americanized. The rice was also a different consistency than what you would be used to, but it had a really good flavor. I really felt like I was in another country eating my meal and I am 100% here for that. The platter prices were very reasonable. As soon as people were leaving, someone was out cleaning up after them. It was a very smooth and efficient process. I was very impressed and will definitely be back to try more things!

The food is so insanely good. It is way better, as well as a little cheaper, compared to some place like Chipotle
