Social Profile:

The NORIEGA HOTEL was founded by Faustino Noriega in 1893. It was taken over in 1931 by Juan and Gracianna Elizalde. The original hotel, after many years, became a boarding house for men only. In 1940 the restaurant business was such that it became necessary to expand, and the Bar and Dining room were added. The doors remained open for 89 years until May 1ST 2020. Not wanting to see the complete end of an era and what the NORIEGA HOTEL represented, local entrepreneurs purchased the majority of the restaurant equipment including tables, chairs, recipes and much of the original décor. The restaurant has been relocated to its new home in the Stockdale Fashion Plaza at 4809 Stockdale Hwy.

Thank you to Koie, the owner of Noriega’s and the Noriega’s Team! The bridal shower we had on Saturday for my daughter was absolutely a five star event. All of the Basque food served was delicious. My compliments to the chef. I would like to compliment all of the servers. They were extremely efficient and attentive to the needs of our guests. They did a fabulous job serving the food, cutting and serving the cake, and frequently asked guests if they needed a refill on their drinks. Thank you for your suggestion on how to best set up the tables to face the head table. This larger room is perfect to accommodate private parties. The jazz music played in the background was a nice added touch. The Mimosa Bar was a big success with all the various juices and fruit to top the mimosa that you suggested. The Noriega’s Team went above and beyond to make sure that everything was perfect and it certainly was! We received numerous compliments on the food and service. Thank you so very much for all of your extra effort in helping to make my daughter’s bridal shower such a memorable occasion!

I stopped off for lunch last week. Bartender Michelle greeted us and sat us at the bar until lunch was ready, ( we were early). She made us some wonderful drinks while we waited.

I finally went to the new Noriga’s last night. I’ll be honest, some of the past reviews concerned me. However, I was thrilled with the experience and the food. I called and made reservations earlier in the day and they said be there by six. I specifically wanted to eat at Noriega’s because I love the family style dining. There’s no other basque restaurants around that has the family seating.

We went on aThurs.night. Garlic fried chicken & spare ribs were on the menu for that night. There were 5 in our party & we paid $46.00 /each. Waitress was friendly & helpful. The bread was stale & she replaced it with fresh. Soup tasted left over, beans were ok, cottage cheese & blue cheese was fine. Chicken was tender however bland., the spare ribs were the same.

Everything was outstanding. Came on a Tuesday and the main dishes were chicken cacciatore and ribeye steaks. Service was on point and the food even better. Drinks were great and the house wine included with dinner was good. Dj was playing in the bar. Good vibes. On a Tuesday!

I can’t rate the new Noriega’s on food quality as I just stopped in for a Picon Punch. To be sure, the location doesn’t have the feel of the original, but the drink was good. They were able to secure the same cook to provide consistency.

Service is the ONLY positive I can say about this place. Food was either overly bland or WAY too garlicky. Restaurant was freezing. Way overpriced for what they offered. Cherry on top was the horribly loud terrible noise of karaoke that blasted the entire restaurant. Will not be a returning customer. Just wish that sweet waitress could work at a better establishment. She’s the reason they got 2 stars from me.

Best garlic fried chicken in town. The cabbage soup is always amazing especially with their beans and salsa. I love the fries at the end of the meal(dessert!). I also appreciate the dinner time of 6pm which lets my food settle before I sleep. I have never had a bad meal here and the servers are always friendly. One of my favorite places in town hands down.
