Noma Sushi delivers fresh, flavorful sushi with a great variety from classic nigiri to inventive rolls that really pop. The fish tasted clean and vibrant, portions are generous, and the atmosphere is cozy and inviting without pretense, perfect for a casual dinner or a sushi date. Service was friendly and the overall experience hit all the right notes. Also the staff is so friendly; I get why they’ve been open for 40 years.

I had a wonderful experience dining here — from the moment you arrive, you can tell this place is something special.

The exterior and entrance are beautifully designed, with thoughtful decorative elements that immediately set the tone. Walking inside, the space feels very spacious and filled with a strong, authentic Japanese atmosphere. What makes it even more impressive is that much of the signage and décor were carefully brought over from the original location, giving the restaurant a truly immersive and intentional feel.

The food absolutely lives up to the setting. Their Omakase course and Chirashi Bowl are clear standouts — beautifully presented, great value, and highlighting the freshness and quality of the ingredients.

The Bento Box is also extremely popular and easy to love. It’s generous, well-balanced, and perfect if you want to try a little bit of everything.

Overall, this spot delivers on ambiance, authenticity, and food quality. If you’re looking for an elevated Japanese dining experience in Santa Monica, this place is definitely worth a visit.

This is truly the top-tier Japanese restaurant in Santa Monica! We came on a weekday evening and still had to wait in line for 40 minutes, but it was absolutely fantastic. The sashimi platter was incredibly fresh, the thick-cut tuna was bursting with flavor, the tempura had a crispy exterior but wasn’t greasy, and the dipping sauce was amazing. The price-performance ratio is very high for Santa Monica, the portions were generous, and two people were stuffed. Local recommendations are definitely reliable, and I’ll definitely come back next time I’m in Santa Monica.

There’s a sushi restaurant in Santa Monica that’s been open for 40 years.
A lot of people first came here in their twenties, and now that they’re married with kids, they still bring their children back to eat here

They relocated across the street due to area redevelopment, but the moment you step inside, you’ll feel that classic, traditional Japanese atmosphere is still there.
The wooden interior, the sushi bar, and the large Japanese ceramic jars at the entrance really make it feel like you’re traveling in Japan ✨

They’re especially known for their Omakase.
We ordered the $64.95 set, and the freshness of the sushi was on point. The pacing was just right, and you can really taste the care put into each piece

Uni lovers must try the Uni Toast and Uni Shooter — creamy, rich, and absolutely indulgent

Their bento is also excellent.
The tempura in the tendon-style bento is super crispy, and the + $5 black cod is incredibly tender — a comforting, classic hot meal.

One more big plus — parking is easy!
Free parking in Santa Monica is truly rare

If you’re looking for a place that serves authentic Japanese sushi, with history, character, and heart,
this is definitely one worth saving ✨

We ordered the Omakase Set Sushi, Maguro Tokusen, and Uni Toast — everything was fresh and well-balanced. The omakase set was a great way to try a variety of pieces, the Maguro Tokusen stood out, and the Uni Toast was rich but not heavy.
The space is large with beautiful interior design and a great atmosphere. Would come back.

Noma sushi in Santa Monica, is s 40 year old traditional restaurant, with a brand new location. Started with the omokase set which includes 11 pcs of their best sushi, a spicy tuna hand roll and a premium mushroom with miso soup. Quick sip of green iced tea before trying their Noma combo 3 item lunch combos. The first had chicken cutlet, bbq short rib, and California roll. Second had steak teriyaki, 3 pc sushi, and sashimi. I ordered the very tasty bulgogi, crispy sesame chicken with dipping sauce, flaky & moist black cod. Great food, ambiance, and plenty of parking in the back.

This place is AWESOME! The food is great quality, the service is excellent. The Fatty Tuna, the Young seabream, Halibut, Albacore, the mackerel and finally their bubble wrapped green tea ice cream is incredible!! This is the 3rd time we’re here and every time, it’s an amazing experience. This place doesn’t disappoint. The chef himself, the servers and everyone involved is extremely kind, helpful and very personable. I highly highly recommend this place.

Noma has been in business for over 40 years. The restaurant is big and spacious with Japanese elements and decorations.

The Noma Sashimi came with 15 pieces of fresh fish. The presentation was impressive. It comes with daily premium soup and hand roll. The omakase set sushi was also so fresh. The uni toast was yummy. The yellowtail belly was so fatty and buttery.

There is a sushi bar where you can watch the sushi chefs in action.

The service was friendly.

They also offer complimentary tempura ice cream for birthdays. This was such a nice treat and dining experience.
