Nigel’s is conveniently located only minutes away from the North Charleston Ice Palace and Northwoods Mall. Its not far from the North Charleston Coliseum or the Performing arts center. Pleasant atmosphere, bomb Pandora playlist going, and delicious soul food. The red rice is on-point, as is the fish sandwich & chicken wings. The waffles in the chix and waffles truly Belgian style, the sweetness is in rhe batter so you don’t need syrup. Cornbread didn’t even need butter.

It pains me to have to write this but here it goes. It’s been years since my family and I have eaten here but something has gone terribly wrong. Once my family and I were seated, the waitress told us it would be 10 minutes before she could put our order in because the kitchen was backed up but once she was able to put it in, it would take only 10 minutes for our food to come out. I ordered the wing meal with collard greens, macaroni and corn bread. The waitress told me they were out of corn bread. I asked if I could possibly have a waffle instead. The waffle looked like those new Eggo waffles. I sure hope these are not the waffles they serve with their chicken and waffle meal. Anyway, my chicken was rubbery and hard to pull a part, which tells me it was probably old and thrown back in the grease. That would explain why it only took 10 minutes for our food to come out. My collard greens were TOUGH! Now my parents liked their fish. So I’ll give them that. We paid our bill and gave the waitress her tip. We all agreed that we won’t be back.

It was pretty good. I had the whiting and they really give you a nice piece of fish. One of my friends had the chicken fried steak and she said it was very good but the potatoes were very thick when she put her fork in it. It almost crumbled like cornbread. Other than that the food was good. We did taste the wings which I liked. They remind me of KFC’s honey barbecue wings which I loved place was very crowded. They do a good business. Only thing is they’re not Open on Sundays and their meals just seems like a nice Sunday meal

I am actually reviewing Nigel’s new space in Hanahan, SC. This is my first time trying out any of Nigel’s restaurants. What can I say? It didn’t disappoint. I went during the soft opening and it was ahhhmazing. The food was absolutely delicious. Full of flavor and it took me back to my childhood of eating my families cooking. The only negative thing I have to say is that I didn’t try this place earlier. Please, please do yourself a favor. Don’t hesitate in giving Nigel’s a try. That man puts pure love in his food and you can certainly taste it in every bite. His wife, Mrs. Louise came by the table to ask my friend and I how everything was. She was very kind and sweet, just a final touch to a wonderful experience. Thank you Nigel and Louise, you truly have something special.

The food was excellent. Very few complaints. The side of collard greens didn’t appear to be seasoned enough. I added some salt and pepper. Our party of 8 was well served, thanks to our server Casey. Everyone was satisfied with their food and the presentation was awesome. Too much to eat in a single sitting. The ambiance was great. Visiting the city and loving the food culture. The geechie wings was the family favorite .

I personally thought the collards had a bit to much salt. But they were still amongst some of the better I’ve had in restaurants that caters soul food. The place was well lit, tables and booths clean. The only negative I had about the atmosphere was the music. Great selection, but I came to eat not party. Can you turn it down a little please? Great service and friendly staff. I enjoyed my waitresses time. Thank y’all..
