Good sushi and Korean in Newport RI area.. family owned and run, very friendly service.
Sushi pieces were small but were cut into 8 per roll.
Japchae was very good, lots of noodles and veggies, one of the better dishes I’ve had
Kalbi was good, smaller portion, not as much flavor as I like..
But a good place to check out if you want Sushi or Korean in the area!

Nice, quiet restaurant with lovely servers. Unfortunately, the avocado crunch salad lacked any crunch, balance, and excitement, and the pajeon was underfried and doughy, lacking scallions. Overall disappointing flavors.

Sea Shai is most definitely one of the best sushi restaurants in the state of Rhode Island. The restaurant is quiet, small and intimate- it is, most of all, immaculate in its cleanliness. The cleanliness of the area, can also be observed in the food. The fish and ingredients are fresh, you can taste the difference! There are many options for sushi but also an array of appetizers, soups and select Korean dishes. We LOVE their specialty sushi and hot sake. Pricing is very reasonable for the portions and quality. Their service is friendly and discreet, they will not bother you a hundred times during your meal. Make sure to try their steamed pork gyoza (my favorite ap)

Took my granddaughter there for here for her birthday and we all loved it. Very friendly staff and outstanding Korean and Japanese food. My granddaughter thought the fried Korean beef dumplings were to die for. She said we should come back at least once a month. Price was very reasonable for the amount of food we received. Deserves 5+ Stars.

Sushi and sashimi are good, the rest not so special, a little expensive

Hadn’t been to the new version of this restaurant but always liked the old one. They had availability Sat night which many places downtown Newport didn’t (due to Valentines) so figured we’d try it. We’ll… only three parties when we were there so understand the availability. We had new server (I think she said she’d been there three weeks)and she had little knowledge about menu. Didn’t know what sushi was brought, had to check what veggies were in dish, etc. clearly they need to train better! I felt bad for her but expected a bit more basic knowledge.
Sushi was tasteless and watery. Definitely not great – more like supermarket sushi or even step down. Service was a bit slow – we think only one chef was on …. Won’t go back.

The food was delicious however their takeout service was a bit on the pedestrian side. One of our bags ripped because of the poor attention to how things where packed (Some liquid from one of our dishes was not closed properly and quite literally destroyed the paper bag our meal came out with). Understandable in the end, but it did put a wretch in our dinner night cleaning it up when it went. Id imagine this place would be a great dine in place regardless.
