We checked out Nehemiah’s Steakhouse in Neoga tonight. We had a very nice dinner and a glass of good wine. They’ve done a very good job with the place. Nice atmosphere with soft piano music, in a beautiful dining room. Food was very good, and we even got a free dessert! #funwithmarkandjoni

Wow! Get ready for a big city meal right here in our small town. May I say, I worked in many steakhouses in Chicago for years after college so I am picky. This place is PERFECT! Starting with the completely rehabbed brick building. Absolutely stunning work, beautiful lighting, great windows, & two big doors that swing open to a beautiful new restaurant. Gorgeous, green booths line the north and south walls with tables between; a bar at the back, and a big band upfront. We went on Saturday night & they had a live jazz band playing. It was lovely! Our server was amazing! Courtney, if I remember correctly. We started off with cocktails, French onion soups, a salad, & shrimp cocktail. The cocktail sauce was made in house & was just so dang good! For entrees we had the airline chicken, ribeye steak (medium), salmon filet over risotto, & pesto gnocchi. All served with baked potatoes, asparagus, a lovely gravy for the chicken, & some mashed potatoes. For dessert, my mother’s birthday after all, we had the burnt basque cheese cake & it was divine. We switched to red wine & old fashions for the meal. Absolutely 10/10. Wait until you see the bathrooms, even. Feels like this place will be here for decades to come. Every sauce was home made, every bite was perfect. Nothing undercooked, nothing dry. My expectations were met & then exceeded what I could have ever dreamt of. In full transparency, we did order most of the menu, had all the wine we wanted, & gave just over 20% on the tip. Our total for 4 people was $380. Thank you to Lija & the culinary staff, thank you to our server & busser, thank you to the band. You all made our night so special & mom’s birthday dinner one to remember.

Nehemiah’s Steakhouse, Neoga, Illinois is exactly what this area needs! My food photos will speak for themselves – but the steaks got rave reviews with one in our party even saying he didn’t think he’d ever had a better ribeye. Congratulations & THANKS for coming to Neoga! If you’re anywhere near Neoga, this steakhouse is worth a drive!

My husband and I went for a date night. We got there earlier than expected (30+ minutes before our reservation) but we were seated within 10 minutes. Everything was wonderful. The appetizer (bang bang shrimp) was very good! My husband got the ribeye and said it was the most tender he’s had in years. And not too much fat. I had the duck breast (my first time trying duck) and it was very good. Chocolate Lava Cake for dessert was gooey and moist. Wonderful end to the meal. The service was excellent. Water glasses always full. Refills brought without asking. Plates cleaned away in a timely manner. No complaints whatsoever. Will definitely return!

Absolutely awesome. The highlight for me was surely the ricotta gnocchi… Wow. The French onion soup was equally incredible. Wontons and shrimp also great apps and the raspberry tort is a must have for dessert… Been in the industry I’m not easily impressed this place is just about perfect great decor ambiance and service in addition to the food… And it’s not as expensive as you think. Can’t wait to go back

Nehemiahs is the one of the best resturants i have ever eaten at. The service is top notch, as well as their cooks. Out of everywhere i have been, which i have been to several resturants. Nehemiahs is definetly top five. My favorite sever out of the times i have been there is the girl. Her name was Hannah and she was really good. Ive never met a more capable person than her. Also she was the best server i had.

Just got back from Nehemiahs in Neoga Illinois. Great experience. 10/10. Would highly recommend to anyone. We don’t go out very often without kids and this did not disappoint. The atmosphere was amazing. Beautiful interior with a piano playing in the background. It was not loud at all which made for a nice relaxing evening. The food was top notch, we got all the apatizers and we got the steak for our entree. And the lava cake and rasberry lemon cake for desert. Best steak I’ve had in years. Great to know we have a good steakhouse in the area, my honest opinion is the best steak you can get in the area. Not very often can I say when we go out to dinner without kids everything was perfect, glad I can say it about tonight. Will defiantly be coming back!

Beautiful place inside and out, the host was amazing and made our experience a special one, we were celebrating our 5 year anniversary and was invited to the soft opening. There was a player piano playing and just an overall warm and inviting feel. Definitely a fine dinning establishment and I didn’t do my homework on how all that works but for those who want that authentic fine dinning experience this the place for it!!! The food was amazing, we got the duck bacon wontons and the scallops as an appetizer, Ceasar salad, and the pan seared ribeye for our entrée. Then we had the molten lava cake and the burnt basque cheesecake for dessert. Everything was top notch, however the service was the only thing I had to critique since the kitchen had a mix up with our apps meaning we were an hour and half into the dinner before even getting to order our entrée’s, then those took another 30 to 40 minutes to come out. The food, once it did arive, was well worth the wait!! One of the best steaks and cheesecakes I’ve had! And those duck bacon wontons were out of this world, I could’ve eaten way more of those!! As for our server, there were some issues. She had never really introduced herself and only really came to our table to take orders or deliver food. 2 other servers ended up refilling our drinks and clearing our empty plates since our server just seemed absent from the dinning floor unless she was taking an order or delivering food like previously stated. Outside of those 2 gripes it was a really good experience and I have full confidence in the management to get those opening kinks worked out quickly for the full opening. In short, atmosphere = 5 stars, Food = 5 stars, service = 3 – 4 star range. Would definitely recommend giving it a shot because the food was well worth the wait!!!

Southern Illinois is about to make its mark on the fine dining map with Nehemiah’s Steakhouse, a restaurant that redefines what a steakhouse can be. Combining refined presentation, top-quality ingredients, and genuine hospitality, Nehemiah’s delivers a dining experience that rivals any big-city establishment while keeping its heart rooted in local charm.
The menu is a celebration of classic craftsmanship and modern flavor. Steaks are the star here, with a variety of premium cuts cooked to perfection — each one showcasing a deep respect for quality and preparation. The airline chicken breast is elevated beyond the ordinary, juicy and beautifully plated, while the thick-cut pork chop offers a rich, satisfying flavor that stands shoulder to shoulder with any steak on the menu.
Seafood lovers will appreciate the salmon, seared to crisp perfection with tender flakes and bright accompaniments. But the true showstopper might be the duck breast — a signature dish that’s nearly impossible to find elsewhere in the region. Its balance of texture and flavor makes it a must-try and a statement piece for the restaurant’s culinary ambition.
Service is polished yet personable, and the ambiance strikes the perfect balance between sophistication and comfort. Whether it’s a special occasion, a business dinner, or simply an evening to indulge, Nehemiah’s Steakhouse offers an experience that feels special from the moment you walk in.
In short: Nehemiah’s Steakhouse isn’t just another restaurant — it’s the future of fine dining in Southern Illinois. Expect to hear this name a lot more as word spreads about this exceptional new destination.
