We visited Nami Kaze for brunch. We ordered the shrimp toast Benedict, hash browns (definitely get a side order of these!), and the waffles with honey shrimp. For the honey shrimp waffle, my husband originally forgot to add the shrimp in the app, and just ordered the plain waffle, so don’t be like us! When they brought the waffle order we then got a side order of the shrimp, thankfully. Dessert was a take on haupia pie, it was nice and light.

Nice spin on some Japanese traditional foods. Meant to be shared, they are small plates. I thought it was a little pricey for the size of the selections. They had an online only order system that seemed to work pretty well, however, no real way to review the total of what you ordered. Also, anyone at the table can use the phone to order. So, with multiple people ordering it becomes quite chaotic. I didn’t like this arrangement. In the end it cost $176 for two people to eat enough to get full. While I enjoyed the experience, it was hardly worth what we paid. This is close to the price of a high end steak house. Likely won’t return. Just not good value for the money.

Food came highly recommended and did not disappoint. All operating is done electronically from your phone, dishes come out as soon as they are ready – not in any other order. A bit on the pricey side, it’s very easy to spend $$ when ordering in this way.

Excellent gastronomic experience outside the busy tourist section of Honolulu. We’ll crafted dishes from locally sourced farms make this restaurant a must visit if you’re visiting. And yes, the dessert! The staff is very knowledgeable on each dish and gave us great suggestions for wine and drink pairing.

Amazing food. Fresh and great flavor. Something to please everyone. Went for brunch and ordered all the recommendations. I wish they’d move off the toast ordering system. I’d rather order through the server.

Great restaurant that is where the Uncle’s was. Parking can be a challenge for this area, but it can not be helped. I’d like to write a lukewarm review to keep others from coming here so I can always get a table, but that is not right. I really enjoyed my meals here. I split 3 meals, and it was great. Food temperature, eye appeal, smell, and taste were all excellent. The kitchen was much larger than I expected, but I could see why as they produced some really tasty dishes. “Da Cat!” sushi roll was a tempura shrimp roll topped with lump crab meat. It was good but not great, and I think my taste buds are used to salter and greasier sushi on Hawaii. I enjoyed actually tasting the lump crab and tempura, but I think an accompanying sauce like tempura sauce would have been great. “Beer battered auction fish.” Drum roll, please, . . . it was Ahi today. it was crisp and light on the ouside exile being moist and flavorful on the inside. In general, I would say it is sacrilegious to fry Ahi, but this was darn good. The kicker was the fries that were lightly coated with something that kept it crisp and flavorful. Their fries reminded me of the burger king new recipe fries but much better. “People’s choice” was my favorite. The ginger fried chicken pieces were moist on the inside and well seasoned with a crisp exterior. You can also taste the slight ginger flavor so it wasn’t overpowering. There were 4 or 5 poke options, and the miso garlic is npwnmy favorite poke on the island. Flavorful with a slight creaminess from the avocado but no mayo. Miso gave it an umami punch. It was also not sinuous like other places. The pickled veggies were okay, and the mac salad was good. It also came with a good portion of rice. This is a two dollar sign place, so I can’t make it a weekly habit although I want to. Richie, our server, knew his menu, and his recommendations were spot on. Next time is the walnut shrimp toast and another kind of poke. For now, this is a must try spot. Make a reservation! You can also order via your phone by scanning their QR code. People’s Choice plate with miso garlic poke is first, and a close second is the beer battered auction fish. We will be back.

The food was amazing! The prawns are a dish I will be dreaming about. My recommendation is to only place a few orders at a time. The kitchen is not good at pacing. We ended up being seated, ordering, eating 6 courses and paying our check in 45 minutes. We felt hurried from the moment we sat down.

Excellent service by the Bartender. He gave his recommendations and food came fast. It was our first time there and the Japanese fusion food was amazing. Started with the brocolett and eggplant starters. Crispy torched spiced brocolett and an cooked marinated eggplant with Wasabi flavored sheared Daikin on top. Very flavorful. My honey walnut shrimp and waffles came by mixing sweet and savory. Its a good twist on the chicken and waffles. Then Sammy’s tashoku came with black cod. Super soft fish little firmer than butter fish with misoyaki sauce. Lastly, we stayed for dessert. Deconstructed lemon meringue pie and ume flavored goodie goodie. Excellent palette cleansers and tartness to wake you up for the ride home. Overall great experience and both of us will be back to try the dinner menu next time around.

I’ve dined here multiples times for brunch. I’ve had the butterfish, soft shell crab, chirashi, and the People’s Choice with hapa boy poke. I think I want to try something new, but always end up ordering the People’s Choice.
