the spot is small and cozy. i’ve been to their downtown location a few times with family and friends. the food is typically great, and they offer all-you-can-eat which i don’t always care for (the concept of buffets and stuffing yourself, in general) which includes a $10 waste fee and you aren’t able to take it to-go. there are lots of drink options to choose from as well, they have a cool wine wall for viewing. the service has been pretty consistent, with staff being attentive and personable.

TLDR: When “All you can eat” threatens to fine you over leftover pieces of sushi, probably don’t go for it…

This was my first visit to any Nagoya location, and I came here because of an ad I got in the mail- all you can eat sushi! It intrigued me, so we decided to visit.

The first off-putting thing was that the mastic was very low and the actions of the staff were very LOUD, as you can hear from the banging in my video. The longer we sat there, the more staff came out to pile items and boxes on the bar, talk loudly and do apparent repairs on the restaurant. Not a very appetizing environment.

We ordered drinks- an old fashioned and a mango sangria- both exceptionally strong, which, for his old fashioned was appreciated, but I couldn’t finish my drink. I surmised that all drinks ordered there would be equally strong and otherwise “untasty”, so I ordered a hot tea which was basically lukewarm.

We ordered some appetizers: 3 pieces crab Rangoon, 2 egg rolls, 2 shrimp tempura and 2 crab tempura. All of it was not great- think GFS quality.

When we went to order rolls, we noticed the section detailing the “leftover food charge”:
Sushi Rice
$1.00 Per Pc
Appetizer
$0.25 Per Pc
Sushi Roll
$1.00 Per Pc
Sushi
$2.00 Per Pc
Sashimi
$2.00 Per Pc
Hibachi
$2.00 Per Pc

While recognizing that there are many people who probably leave some food behind, outright charging people for not being able to finish 2 rolls is absurd. I ended up only ordering one roll, because I was afraid of not being able to finish 2, out of fear that I’d have to pay double what any of the food was worth. I was so hungry, I forgot to take a pic of the sushi ‍♀️- but honestly it wasn’t good enough where I’d ever return to this place, seeing as how filthy, loud, and lacking in good service it was, on top of the threats of charging customers for each piece of rice leftover .

The dessert was good- again buffet style GFS quality and very tiny, so we each ordered 2 desserts.

Overall, I suppose if you can eat a lot, this might be worth it, but I’d rather go to a Chinese buffet- at least there you can get what you expect quality wise and don’t have to worry about extra charges appearing on your bill .

If you haven’t been to an AYCE (all
you can eat) sushi place … then come check this place out. The price is very reasonable at $23.95 per person for the dinner AYCE. The chef was very professional and did a great job with our food. Quality was top notch as the sashimi was super FRESH! Service was fantastic even though it was super busy. We had a party of 20 people and food came out fast and tasted great all the way around. The place is pretty small so make sure you make a reservation if you have a large group we did and it turned out great. We will have to come back for the Hibachi and for some more delicious sushi!

So far, it is the best all you can eat sushi place in the Grand Rapids area for both quality and price. Unlike other ayce places, rolls are not over-packed with rice even after several orders for all the 3 times I have been here. Despite the limited selection, the fish quality is at least equal or better than made-to-order sushi restaurant around the area, especially the salmon, squid, yellowtail, and eel. Aside from the fish, you get a selection of appetizers such as soup and tempura. Overall, the price of $24 is a steal for a sushi dinner of this quality

I arrived at the restaurant at 3 PM with a group of six people, and there were no other customers at any other tables. It took 20 minutes for someone to take our order, and another 10 minutes to receive the first soup. After another 20 minutes, I still hadn’t received my main course. I’d like to tell the owner that if things continue like this, you won’t have any customers left.

Thank you for your response, but I find it defensive rather than sincere. You mentioned our ‘large custom order’ as the reason for the delay, but I must clarify: we were a party of six people. Ordering 100 pieces of sashimi and only 3 set across an entire meal for a group that size is well within the expectations of an ‘All You Can Eat’ service.
Furthermore, we did not order this all at once. We followed your rules strictly and placed small, gradual orders to respect your process. By blaming the size of our order, you are essentially blaming the customer for using the service we paid for.
The core issue is your 90-minute time limit. If your kitchen requires 70 minutes of that time to prepare basic sashimi for 6 people, leaving us with only 20 minutes to actually eat, then your business model is flawed. It is not ‘All You Can Eat’ if the service speed prevents the customer from eating. We paid $200 for a 90-minute experience but spent most of it staring at an empty table. We expected a sincere apology for the service delay, not to be told that we ordered too much.

I recently visited Nagoya Hibachi Sushi Restaurant and was blown away by the experience. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted by friendly staff who made me feel right at home. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, with traditional Japanese decor and music setting the mood.
I started off with a sushi platter and was impressed by the freshness and quality of the fish. Each piece was expertly crafted and tasted delicious. Next up was the hibachi grill, and the chef did not disappoint. The showmanship was top-notch, with flames shooting up and a dazzling display of knife skills. And the food was just as amazing – the steak was perfectly cooked and the vegetables were seasoned to perfection.
Throughout the meal, the staff was attentive and made sure that my dining experience was nothing short of exceptional. To top it all off, the prices were very reasonable for the high-quality food and service.
Overall, I highly recommend Nagoya Hibachi Sushi Restaurant for anyone looking for a great Japanese dining experience. The combination of excellent food, friendly staff, and cozy atmosphere make it a must-visit for anyone in the area.

I have dined here 4 times over the past 1.5 years. My biggest disappointment is how slow food comes out. We were the only table and it was still very slow. And the salmon sushi was cut in odd and non uniform sizes..some thin and some like chucks. I couldn’t eat the Yellowtail. You could smell it wasn’t fresh. Probably safe to eat but smelled really bad. I chef should notice that and not serve. After our first course came out had to ask for plates. We were sitting at 20 or 30 minutes and still the only table. Its unfortunate because the location is really convenient but I can’t afford to spend that much time for lunch so I probably won’t go back unless I have more than an hour. The first time I visited it was slow but the place was busy with just about all the tables full. But that wasn’t the same on the last visit so it seems that is how its run. Also, don’t let them sit you at the tables closest to the door when its cold outside. They need to adjust the air curtain because it shuts off too soon so all the cold air just rushes over you. I can tolerate the cold but I ended up wearing my coat the entire time.

The other location is so much better in terms of service and wait time. It took 10 mins just to be sat. Another 10 mins to get water. Another 10 to ask if we wanted food. About 20 mins between each subsequent time they came back. The food was not timed well. It’s awkward when 2 people order food at the same time and only one persons food is brought out and another 10 mins before the others food is brought out. The other location is far superior. The team is so much better, service 1/3 of the wait time. I’ve seen the single waitress take orders, run the food, and buss the tables in a fraction of the time with it just as busy. We live 5 mins up the road from this and it took us 2 hrs to get there, eat food, and go home. The other one on 28th st is 20 mins away and we’re usually back home within an 1.5 hrs including drive time. It was kind of ridiculous and disappointing, we won’t be back. The quality of the food was also slightly different but still felt it was a good deal. If we never been the other location we’d probably be more satisfied but yeah.

It was my first time at this Nagoya location since this place looked a bit better than the one on 28th street. Be warned, though, they do not validate your parking if you decide to park inside the structure.

It is hard to find a decent AYCE sushi nowadays, especially a place that offers sashimi! I was skeptical about it at first compared to the price of how reasonable it is for AYCE sushi. OMG, I was very impressed with everything this place has to offer. The sashimi was very fresh; the food came out quickly; and the service was very reasonable. Though, one thing I did notice that the fish-to-rice ratio for the nigiri was a bit questionable. Since you already offer sashimi in AYCE, I would hope and expect the rice portion should be a bit less for the nigiri. Otherwise, I like this place and will come back for a second time!

I recently visited Nagoya Hibachi Sushi Restaurant and was thoroughly impressed by the experience. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted warmly by the staff and the atmosphere was inviting and cozy.

The highlight of the meal was definitely the hibachi grill. Our chef was skilled and entertaining, putting on an impressive show as he prepared our food right in front of us. The dishes were flavorful and cooked to perfection, and the portions were generous. The sushi rolls we ordered were also delicious and beautifully presented.

The service was attentive and prompt, with our server checking on us regularly and making sure we had everything we needed. The prices were reasonable for the quality of food and service we received.

Overall, I highly recommend Nagoya Hibachi Sushi Restaurant for anyone looking for a fun and delicious dining experience. Whether you’re a fan of hibachi, sushi, or both, this restaurant will not disappoint.
