Call in your order ahead of time! They make everything fresh and it’s the best African food in the city. Any meat option they have is so tender and delicious. I’ve tried many of the different stews and have fallen in love with each one. Incredible service and wonderful food. Be warned it’s so addicting you’ll want to try the whole menu! The staff is wonderful and so kind and helpful with menu items. I recommend this place to anyone.

An African friend of mine recommended this place. Yesterday, I had my uncle order in person. I got the Egusi soup with red snapper and fufu, along with jollof rice and stewed tripe. The food was very delicious. This was my second time trying West African food, and it ended up being even better than the last place I went to in Long Beach, CA. Both places were amazing, but I have to admit this one had more flavor, and the meat (the tripe and the fish) was incredibly tender.
I don’t get the opportunity to eat African food often because there aren’t many African restaurants in Kansas, so this was exactly what I wanted for my early birthday dinner, and it turned out perfect. And it was also my uncle’s first time trying African food, and he was very pleased. So thank you, The Village Grill! We’ll definitely be back soon!
I’d also like to add that the food was expensive..but don’t let that stop you from eating here or anywhere else. You get what you pay for, and it was absolutely worth it. ❤️

I ordered vegetable soup, jollof, and fufu. I will say the prices are steep. The owner let me taste beef suya it was good. The vegetable soup had chicken drumsticks in it, which made it taste like greens. I don’t like the taste of Collard or Mustard greens. I asked for mild but the heat of the spice was still too strong for my palate.The jollof was ok. My great review is because the owner was full of life. He is a happy family man who is passionate about his restaurant. The owner provided great customer service. I visited in 12.24.

A couple of friends and I went for the buffet at lunch recently. Highlights included jollof rice, beef, and samosas. Those working were very sweet and helpful with explanations of everything offered. I believe it was about $30/person.
