Every detail within the restaurant- from the delicious food to the very ambience within this palatial restaurant reflects a feeling of royalty and grandeur. The iconic restaurant is perched on top of a hill overlooking the magnificent Gulf of Oman and the green beauty of the famed Qurum Park on one side with the unmatched view of the beautiful city of Muscat on the other. As a flagship restaurant of the Ajit Khimji Group of Companies.

We had a wonderful experience at Mumtaz Mahal. The indoor space is beautiful, filled with plants that make it feel fresh and inviting. Special thanks to Chef and TC Rana for his warm hospitality — he was friendly, patient, and answered all our questions.

For those who enjoy Indian and spicy food, this is a great choice. I loved my butter chicken — rich and flavorful — and my partner’s Gold Tasting Menu was a fantastic way to sample many dishes. Prices are reasonable for the quality, though not the cheapest. I’d definitely go again and bring any guests visiting Muscat.

Mumtaz Mahal in Muscat is undeniably a feast for the eyes with its stunning interiors and captivating ambience—perfect for impressing clients or hosting a fancy evening out. However, the experience falls short where it matters most. The food is, frankly, mediocre, with portions so small they leave you wanting. The naan? The tiniest I’ve ever seen, almost a culinary crime! Service is just okay, not matching the hype or the hefty price tag.
As a local Muscatian, I find it hard to justify the cost for what’s offered. This is a one-time-visit kind of place, more suited for business entertainment than a go-to dining spot. Sorry, folks, but I can’t recommend it—there are better options out there for the price.
Good luck.

The place is beautiful, and the food was delicious. However, two staff members came across as quite rude. We had requested one of the waiters to make a dish less spicy, but it was served very spicy anyway. Fortunately, another staff member who later served us was genuinely kind and attentive. Overall, the ambience made the experience pleasant, but the service could definitely be improved.

Mumtaz in Muscat is a great dining experience. The food is incredibly fresh, full of bold flavor, and clearly prepared with real attention to quality. Every dish we ordered had that perfect balance of spice and richness without feeling heavy, which is harder to find than you’d think. The staff were warm and professional, and the setting has an elevated yet welcoming feel. One small note for anyone visiting, the restaurant is located in a complex that has several other places around it, so just know where you are headed when you arrive. Overall, a fantastic spot for high quality Indian cuisine in Muscat and absolutely worth a visit.

A little late in posting this, but definitely worth sharing! We’ve visited Mumtaz Mahal multiple times, and it continues to impress us every single visit. The food is truly one of the best Indian dining experiences in Muscat — rich flavours, authentic taste, and consistently delicious dishes.

The ambience is beautiful making it perfect for family dinners, celebrations, or a special night out. The service has always been warm, attentive, and professional.

Mumtaz Mahal remains one of our top favourite restaurants in the city. Highly recommended!

Mumtaz Mahal, located next to Kalabash in Madinat Al Alam, offers an exceptional dining experience. The ambience is off the charts, creating a perfect atmosphere for a delightful meal. The staff were incredibly nice and friendly, with Faisal providing exceptional service.

We were welcomed with complimentary Masala Pappad and Aloo Bonda, which were absolutely delicious, especially when paired with their homemade Tamarind and Date Sauce. The Butter Chicken and Madras Chicken Curry were both excellent, full of rich and authentic flavors. The Chicken Biryani was also delicious and a must-try.

For starters, we had the Malai Chicken Tikka and prawns, both of which were amazing. To finish off our meal, we enjoyed the Date Cake with Ice Cream, Gulab Jamun, and Rasamalai—all were scrumptious.

Keep in mind that the price is on the higher side.

Overall, Mumtaz Mahal delivers an outstanding culinary experience with top-notch service. Highly recommended!

We had the tasting menu at Mumtaz Mahal in Muscat, and it was fantastic! Each of the five courses was packed with bold, vibrant flavours that showcased Indian cuisine at its best. Portions were super generous—so much so that we couldn’t finish the last course, which was the biggest of them all. Honestly, one tasting menu is perfect for two people to share. Great food, lovely ambiance, and overall an experience worth savouring!
