This Mountain Mike’s in Newman has gone downhill since new ownership took over.
I placed a phone order today using a coupon that was mailed to me. The person who took my order (I’m fairly certain he was the owner) honored the coupon over the phone. I even asked if he needed the coupon code, and he said no – that he already applied it. He told me the pizza would be ready in about 15 minutes and that I could pay in person.
He also told me over the phone that the breadsticks would come with marinara, and that the ranch would be free as the side for the pizza. When my husband went to pick up the order, he suddenly refused to honor the coupon unless he physically saw it and then tried to charge $0.50 per small container of ranch, completely contradicting what was already agreed upon. When I called back to clarity, he put me on hold and never returned. This was especially unprofessional because my husband was physically in the store at that moment and said there was nobody there, so he clearly wasn’t busy. I had to call again, at which point he claimed that he never spoke to me to place the order at all. I told him that whether it was him or another employee, this should not happen to customers and he should address it with his staff — though I am confident it was him who helped me in the first place.
The call ultimately ended with him hanging up on me.
On top of all of this, there are cats roaming around the property, which is unacceptable for a food establishment.
This entire experience felt dishonest, dismissive, and extremely unprofessional. I will not give this location a penny of my support and strongly suggest local Newman residents avoid doing business here. Save yourself the frustration and go to Los Banos or Patterson.

Horrible service… Deliveries are always late never on time. Orders are usualt mest up. Today delivery took 2+ hours and when they finaly got here one had so many jalapeños we couldn’t eat them. The other one the bacon was so burnt we gad to take it all off before we could even eat it. Would never order from this palce again… time after time same story.

Try to place an order they went on the online price went to the online form to try to place a pick up order but you have to pay with a credit card and then have your ID with with the credit card on hand and unfortunately, my wife was driving to go pick up the pizza so she wouldn’t have my ID in my credit card so I told the manager this and he said well that’s not my problem and I said well is there anything you can do and he said no basically gave me a blow off they obviously don’t want business so take your business elsewhere, especially in these times

I do not recommend this location the service is terrible, no one ever answers the phone. The last time I got pizza here it was undercooked and doughy very disappointing. They only offer me $5 off next time like that’s not even worth what they’re charging. Prices are ridiculous, and it’s like they don’t even care to fix the problems. The building has an awful smell and I’ve seen some bugs running around too! Avoid this location if you can there are better pizza places!

A Slice of Disappointment
I’ve had the unfortunate experience of dining at Mountain Mike’s , a pizza joint that has sadly fallen short of expectations. From the moment I stepped inside, the atmosphere was lackluster, with worn-out decor and a general feeling of neglect. The menu offered a standard selection of pizzas, pastas, and salads, but nothing particularly stood out.
When my pizza finally arrived, I was met with a soggy crust that was devoid of any crispiness. The toppings were sparse and seemed to have been hastily applied. The cheese was bland and lacked the gooey, melted texture that I crave in a good pizza. To make matters worse, the sauce was tasteless and had a watery consistency.
I attempted to salvage the meal by adding a sprinkle of red pepper flakes and a drizzle of olive oil, but it was too little too late. The pizza simply wasn’t good. The service was also lackluster, with our server appearing disinterested and inattentive. Overall, my experience at Mountain Mike’s was a major disappointment, and I would not recommend it to anyone seeking a satisfying pizza.

I couldn’t speak to the manager because I don’t speak Spanish and they don’t speak English. How could that be at an American pizza restaurant and you can’t speak English especially as a manager? She said “what you have a problem with that?”. Her parents must be so proud. Her name that she gave me was Brinni. Apparently she’s the only one who speaks English. Extremely disappointed. When I went to Mexico I was expected to speak Spanish so I had an American that was a friend come with me if needed. We do live in America!

The pizza was great! Very delicious . A mug of beer is not a pitcher of beer. Linguica is not the same as sausage. I just think there should be some sort of training for the staff there. The large room in the back for parties is an echo chamber. Get a few rambunctious kids back there during a birthday party, and it gets pretty loud.

Friendly staff, great pizza and quick service.

I’m going to update my review that I originally made giving five stars. While I still agree that the staff is phenomenal, can’t say enough about them, and the pizza is great and the service is really wonderful for the most part. One serious complaint that I have, is that if they’re not delivering at the time that I order my pizza it should be clear as I’m ordering it that delivery is not available. I get that business owners cannot always have enough staff on hand. I understand that I’ve worked in restaurants and retail service. But when I’m ordering on the app and I am expecting that I’m going to get my order within say 40 minutes on a busy day, I do not expect that it’s going to be 3 hours after I order it because you don’t have a delivery driver on hand. If you’re not going to deliver between certain hours, that should be noted on your web page. If you’re not going to be delivering during certain hours, then the web page should make sure that it very clearly reflects it, or does not allow you to order for delivery. I feel very badly for these poor customer service people that work for you, have to deal with the customers who are ordering pizza and expecting it to be delivered within a timely manner, only to find out that you’re obviously not delivering and it’s going to be delivered 3 hours after they have ordered it. Now I was very polite with the customer service girl, which she thanked me for, but I’m sure that there’s a lot of customers out there these days that are not so polite and understanding. You are putting your employees in a position to be screamed at and verbally assaulted. You need to do better as owners. And that’s my update from my five-star review, to my one-star review due to the owners. Has nothing to do with the wonderful people that work there.
