Mother Hubbard’s really impressed me with one of the best omelets I’ve ever had. The location in Buellton is great, and on a non-busy day there’s plenty of parking, which made things easy. Our server was friendly and overall service was good.

I did run into one small surprise: I loved their salsa and asked if I could get some to go. I didn’t ask about a cost because I assumed it would be a small complimentary container. Instead, they packed up a generous portion—which I appreciated—but it added $7 to the bill. Not the end of the world, and I still enjoyed the salsa for days, but it was a good reminder to always double-check before asking.

What really gave me pause was the overall bill: $70 for breakfast. I know prices are up everywhere, but that still felt like a lot. As much as I enjoyed the food, especially that amazing omelet, I’m not sure I’d return at that price point.

Great meal, just a bit tough on the wallet.

Great food great service and great atmosphere. I ordered the corn beef hash for breakfast all fresh homemade ingredients and was amazing. My husband ordered the Albuquerque Omelette also amazing and flavorful served with homemade salsa which added a great kick and tasted wonderful. We both had biscuits and gravy also homemade and fresh out of the oven. Best I have ever had. Thank you Thank you

Day trip to Gaviota. Needed food and fuel, went up to Buellton. I had the chicken fried steak and eggs with home fries and biscuits. GF did the waffle. Friendly atmosphere and good service. Food was outstanding. We will absolutely go again.

Ended up here because the other places were either closed or super crowded. After our meal, we had to wonder why this place wasn’t crowded. The food was very good, our waitress was super nice, and we had a very nice meal. We even bought a couple of extra biscuits because they were so good! We’d have no arguments at all about going back.

We were basically neglected. Got sat at a table immediately, got our drinks ordered quickly as well. After that, we waited for 25 whole minutes for someone to come take our food orders. We were passed by multiple times by 5 waiters and servers. It wasn’t busy at all, we asked after 10 minutes if we could possibly get our order taken, she left and came back after almost 15 MINUTES. Food was fine, nothing extraordinary. Yet, my grandpa’s pork chop was served RAW. The lady didn’t do anything about it, completely discarded the fact that it was raw which was incredibly terrible. She said she’d tell the chef, didn’t even take the food back to recook it. She came back later and asked if he wanted a box for the raw porkchop . All we got was a $2 discount.

We had breakfast here on 10/6/25. While the food was good and the service was decent, I was a little put off by how they did the bill. It was $144 total and we were splitting it and everyone was putting in money for approximately what they ordered plus extra for tax and tip. We put it on two credit cards and were passing cash/venmo to each other. We told the server we were zeroing out the tip but would leave cash. As we’re sorting it out, it wasn’t adding up. 5 people, each meal $15-$20, total $144. So we looked over the receipt and they treated it as a large party and included a $26 gratuity without telling us. I’ve never seen a group of 5 treated as a large party. But okay, that’s fine, we already tipped and settled the rest amongst ourselves. They actually came out to our car to ask about the cash tip we said we would leave. I guess they were upset that we noticed that they included a tip and didn’t leave more? Ironically, we had planned on leaving $40 but they decided on $26 without telling us so we left it at that. It was unsettling and I felt like they were trying to take advantage of us. So while I wouldn’t advise against eating here, definitely check your bill carefully.

We traveled from San Diego, having heard positive reviews of this establishment. However, our breakfast experience was quite disappointing. We wonder if those who gave positive reviews have different culinary preferences or perhaps haven’t had many opportunities to try other restaurants. We believe Solvang offers many other excellent breakfast options. We recommend trying a different restaurant for breakfast. Definitely, DON’T recommend this breakfast place if it’s your first time visiting Solvang.

Mother Hubbard’s in Buellton is a hidden gem you have to visit! Their biscuits are to die for – tasty, flaky layers piled high with buttery goodness. Add a little sausage gravy, and it’s pure bliss! We tried the scrambled eggs with minced ham and home-fried potatoes, and everything was absolutely delicious.

If you’re looking for a great stop while traveling, this is the place to be. Home-style cooking at its finest, a terrific team, a charming atmosphere, and a huge menu make Mother Hubbard’s a must-visit!
