FOX valley is in for a treat! I’m happy that I don’t have to travel to CHICAGO for authentic PUERTO RICAN food. Now I have not visited this place but I did order it through DOOR DASH. So, my review is solely off of take out. However, the flavor was on point that I will visit the location SOON.
HERE IT goes!
Dinner platter: Everything was pretty much seasoned correctly. My opinion is the marinated pork should have had a piece of skin as advertised. I rated that 3 1/2. The portions were fair. The pasta salad was a bit over cooked. Rated 2.5 The rice was good I rate that a 5. The pastel was a surprise but a welcomed one. The texture and flavor was great but I wish I would have seen a traditional olive! Rated 4.5.
Alcapurra: (plantain meat pie) rated 4 – missing Ketchup/mayo dip
Pastillio: Pork meat pie 3.5 Turnover texture too flaky where it’s falling apart and wayyy to greasy.
Please see pics. In total I spent $45 on Door Dash. In total they still are a solid 4!! I’m super excited to try more!
Con buen provecho!

Two years ago my family and I spent 14 days in Puerto Rico. This restaurant transported me back!
The food the people, the passion to represent a nation of hard working people who know how to cut loose and really enjoy the island life…
I will be going back without question, my new favorite food spot!
I was reviewing the menu and the owner walked up to me and showed me a picture of the special; steak and garlic shrimp with tostones and salad. Take my money! The steak was perfectly charred yet still red and tender on the inside topped with diced green pepper and cilantro, the shrimp were swimming in garlic butter and topped with a thick slab of seared onion. Hot tostones to scoop up the food and juices.
I left with a full belly and a heart that longed to be back on the beach.

This was the first time trying puerto rican food. This restaurant recently open in Appleton, so we went to try it. We tried, chuleta, alcapurrias, arror con habichuelas and malta. The food was great. The price is fair and the service excelent. We failed to try mofongo which is a very traditional dish so Im sure we will try it next time. Make sure they provide a bottle of “pique” in your table so you can add more flavor to your dish.

We really wanted to love this restaurant, as we just got back from Puerto Rico and loved the food there, but we won’t be back to this restaurant–not all that authentic compared to what we experienced at home style restaurants in PR. The shrimp stew and garlic shrimp flavors were nice, though very salty and too garlicky (and we’ve never said that; we love garlic). The Mofongo had good flavor too but something was off. We question whether everything was old. The shrimp were very overcooked. Plus, it’s rather pricey, especially for the lower quality. The worst part: one in our group got sick after the meal.

When I say this was good, it was GOOD. All of it was delicious and hit the spot. I sat in the parking lot and ate every last bite. I ordered the Arroz con gandulee y cerdo con ensalada de papa y pastelillos, the guayaba con queso. Amazing. The service was so welcoming and friendly!! I will absolutely be back!!!

The food is extremely tasty, and the staff is super friendly. The special of the day was pastelón, a casserole dish consisting of plantains, sofrito, and seasoned beef.

Excellent food, had rice with beans, fried pork and salad. My husband had a triplets. The price was reasonable for the amount of food we got. They were nice and even brought out a english menu for my husband to read. They do speak English. If you want some authentic PR food it’s a good place. Now I don’t have to drive to Milwaukee for some home food.

I been craving Puerto Rican food for a while. We was in Appleton for our sons basketball tournament. Looking for a lunch spot I can across Mi Viejo San Juan on Google Maps. First I can’t believe there’s a Puerto Rican restaurant in Appleton or that there’s any Puerto Rican there to begin with. Food was tasting and definitely worth it. Service was awesome, and so was my Parcha Frappe. Yes real parcha mixed in a Frappe. The only thing missing was morcilla, but yeah no complaints. I recommend Mi Viejo San Juan to locals and everyone stopping in Appleton. Only suggestion put something in the sidewalk like a flag with a signage to let people know there’s a Puerto Rican restaurant there.

5 stars is not enough! We are lovers of authentic Puerto Rican food, this restaurant delivered some of the best. The family running the restaurant is kind and so gracious, and the food is out of this world!!! Do not hesitate to support this business, it is a treasure.
