Holy smokes. Mezcalaria Alma was one of the most magical dining experiences of my life. Just truly amazing. The Tostada de Toro was so delicious that I think my eyes rolled back in my head and I couldn’t talk after the first bite. The flavor combos are divine. There were dishes that felt new and unique, and dishes that felt comfortable and fun. Everything was elevated and thoughtful. The Old Fashioned was perfection. The Beet Spritz was an adventure. Shout out to our serve Ryan for being making the experience top notch. 10/10 recommend. Damn.

This was a wonderful spot. It was the first Michelin star restaurant wife and I had ever been to and we could be happier. The food was amazing and so were the drinks. The mezcal-based negroni was especially good. Our server Ryan was wonderful and gave us some great recommendations. I will be recommending this place to friends and coming back to try more of the menu.

Mezcaleria is by far my favorite restaurant in Denver. I have been going here since they first opened last fall, probably 5 times in total and once at Alma (also amazing). The space itself is rather intimate, which makes it feel even more special. The food and drinks are genuinely incredible. I’ve sat solo at the bar top and also dined with friends. Christina is such a sweetheart who’s honed her craft. I’ve never had a bad cocktail or conversation with her. What keeps bringing me back beyond the stellar dining experience, is the staff. It’s clear this team is family. It’s really cool to see the head and sous chefs working right there, and sometimes even serve you. The manager Dom is so warm and delightful, it’s evident such care go into curating the perfect experience for guests. Overall, I’ve been to Michelin restaurants everywhere I’ve traveled, and have never experienced one as deserving of recognition as Mezcaleria.

One of the most exciting meals I’ve had in a while! We were a party of 2 sat at the chefs counter, which was a really fun experience watching everyone at work. The cocktails were fantastic, we started with the beets spritz (highly recommend if you love beets or anything a little different!) and the corn sour, both were balanced and refreshing. We then moved on to the colada (sweet treat) and old fashioned (perfect for mezcal lovers, not overly spirit forward!).

Standout dishes for us were the tostada with uni (probably my favorite thing I’ve eaten all year) and the costillal short rib. However, EVERY dish was amazing, flavorful and perfect all around. No notes on anything. Special shoutout to however the beans are cooked, they were so flavorful and delicious in every dish they were a part of.

The tortillas, tlayudas and tostadas also had great structure and texture. They would not easily crack or break, and remained intact when bitten into. Hard to achieve!!

Tres leches is possibly the best I’ve had. Balanced and not overly sweet flavor, great texture and structure to the cake, delicious!

We ordered 6 dishes since we had so many on the lighter end of the menu. They recommend about 4-5.

This place is STELLAR! Small but full of energy. Place was jammed on a Tuesday afternoon/evening…and for good reason. The food was extremely unique, well executed and tasty. The service was a team effort and we met several of the employees during our stay…all very nice and very knowedgeable. The whole vibe is small plates, cocktails and tequila (huge menu)…perfect for us.
We started with some tequila and a beet spritzer…excellent choices. Then on to Crudo de Kanpachi, Pescadilla de “Marlin”, Tostada de Toro, and Barriga de Cerdo (my favorite!). Finished it all with their Tres Leches dessert (only one on the menu, but very very good). The place ain’t cheap, but I am happy for every $ we spent there. We are now focused on hitting their next-door sister restaurant. But we will be coming back to this one.

My husband and I dined at Mezcaleria Alma to celebrate our shared birthday, and it truly was the most incredible dining experience we have had in Denver. We sat at the Chefs Counter (would definitely recommend), and were instantly offered a “sip” to celebrate our birthdays (champagne, tequila, mezcal, or a N/A bubbly drink). The sparkling non-alcoholic drink was delicious: dry and crisp, not overly sweet. Our server/chef, Jorge, was incredible and extremely helpful as he guided us through the menu and provided thoughtful recommendations. We ordered 5 dishes to share, as recommended. Every single bite was perfection. The tuna tostada, pescadilla, and beef short rib in particular were standouts. My husband is from Mexico and raved about how much the flavors of each dish reminded him of home. Also, the music was amazing! They truly thought of everything to craft the perfect dining experience. We would absolutely recommend Mezcaleria Alma, and we are so grateful for the incredible, celebratory dining experience!

Incredible from start to finish. Mezcaleria Alma — owned by Alma Fonda Fina — absolutely lives up to the hype and then some.

The service was impeccable; our server (Cody, I believe) was attentive, knowledgeable, and made the entire experience feel effortless. The beet cocktail was one of the most unique and refreshing drinks I’ve ever had — perfectly balanced and unexpected in the best way.

Food-wise, everything hit. The burrito was ideal for sharing, the ceviche was fresh and flavorful, and somehow each dish kept getting better. We ended with the tres leches, which was truly one of the best desserts I’ve ever tasted — light, rich, and unforgettable.

An exceptional dining experience all around. Thoughtful food, incredible flavors, and top-tier service. Can’t wait to come back.

We walked in as the restaurant opened at 4 pm and were promptly seated. We had a 2 hour time limit as we did not have a reservation. The ambiance and their service is wonderful. The food outstanding! We started with the stinger and non alcoholic fig Negroni for drinks with tostada de toro and burrata con huitlacoche both of them were so fresh and unique. Next we got the burrita de chicharron is unlike any other burritos we’ve eaten. We got the costillal de res but were too full so had it to go along with a couple tortillas. Was a wonderful dining experience. Highly recommended.

Updated with add’l photos from most recent visit. (And adding that I miss their half moon chips from September.)

When I say I am obsessed with this place, I am not over exaggerating. Perfectly curated interior, mind blowing selection of mezcals, sublime service…oh and the food! The ceviche tostada is one of the best things I’ve ever eaten (sorry I didn’t take a photo of this one!) My favorite dessert is tres leches and it is the only dessert on their menu. I couldn’t resist and was so happy devouring it. They’ve made it their own by adding a tart berry compote on top, along with some pops of fleur de sel. Come hungry because you will want to try it all. I adored the selection of almost all Mexican wines and recommend the chard/vermentino blend. Their wine glass prices are decent compared to many other restaurants in Denver. I truly wish I could eat here every week.

Mezcalería Alma — Mi cumpleaños, mi alma feliz!

A Birthday to Remember

I celebrated my 47th birthday at Mezcalería Alma and wow… what an experience. My taste buds were dancing all night. The flavors here are so unique, yet they come together in perfect harmony — you can feel the intention behind every dish.

We loved the tostada de toro, the pescadilla de marlin on blue corn (that blue corn gives everything such beautiful balance), and the flautas — that touch of nutmeg brought all the flavors together. The crudo de kanpachi was another top favorite, and the aguachile de erizo came in bold with layers of flavor. And of course, the burrata con huitlacoche… my absolute favorite, though honestly, I loved everything.

The drinks were just as unforgettable. The Paloma was tasty and refreshing, the mezcal was truly the star of the night, and the sour corn — recommended by our amazing waitress Brie — did not disappoint. The carajillo was perfectly on point. And for dessert? Tres leches for the win.

The atmosphere was relaxed, the music was just right, and the décor is stunning — every detail feels intentional and full of soul. And the service? Top notch. Warm, attentive, and truly memorable.

If you’re looking to treat yourself, get that reservation and prepare for some unforgettable flavors. This place is an experience, not just a meal.
