I have to say I have been to different diners in the area and I keep coming back to the Metuchen Diner. Sue is AWESOME THE TOPS I then there are the other ladies on certain days that are a pleasure as well. Just to name a few Mariola ,Ester, Drew, Sam and Lee. The food is great also I’m telling you folks if you’re in the area of RT 27 in Metuchen NJ STOP IN YOU WONT BE DISAPPOINTED. It’s like a friendly family great experience with great food.

First time at this diner bc my family member just recently moved here n highly recommended this diner. Greeted by a young nice & friendly man and our server Adam was phenomenal giving us recommendations on our choices of entrees. I had the Boston cod and husband had the pork chops. Both were delicious and generous portions. Rice pudding was delicious too!! We will be back!!

If you’re hungry in the morning and need a great omelet, the Traveler’s Omelet is the one to go with. The mushrooms, tomatoes, and cheese come together perfectly and make for a great start to the day.
The corned beef hash, which my wife and I thought would be a small plate, actually came out as a pretty generous portion.
The potato pancakes, something I never knew about until today thanks to my wife, were amazing especially paired with sour cream.
And the sausage, egg, and cheese on an English muffin… OMG. Simple, classic, and done right.
Great breakfast, great portions, and everything tasted fresh.

Very Nice diner, I went here with my daughter a couple days ago. Our waiter was very nice, unfortunately I don’t remember his name but he was excellent. The food was great, very big portions, delicious and very affordable. I had the cajun chicken sandwich and my daughter had shrimp pasta.

My partner and I were just here for the first time, the other night. If you’re a person of color, or of the community, DO NOT COME HERE. The customer service wasn’t great, the food wasn’t good, either. The curly fries were overcooked, we weren’t told that there was an upcharge for the curly fries. My partner’s fried eggplant sandwich was a complete mess. They said it tasted off, but when we tried to send it back, the waitress said that the kitchen was closed. She didn’t even take the sandwich off the bill, either. The burger was supposed to have the fix ins, but it didn’t come with onions. I only got tomatoes, and lettuce. The waitress offered us free pudding, or jello. However, why should a customer have to pay for something that they didn’t like, but in return, all they get was a free dessert? The waitress had the nerve to ask if we’d like to put a tip on the card after all of that, too. There was also a bug crawling on the silverware, but that should’ve been enough to drive anyone away. Unless you want poor quality food, below average service, and bugs around you; DO NOT COME HERE.

I will go with the good and bad.
The chicken noodle soup, fried chicken, and French fries were good.
The French toast was decent and so were the home fries. The apples were a little odd not sure if they were fresh or packaged.
So these might be picky but these are my opinions. The ice tea did not taste like brewed tea it tasted like Lipton or one of those other terrible teas like Peak. However the unsweetened ice tea was not good.
The syrup is not real syrup either it’s that weird smuckers brand with artificial flavors. Usually breakfast places have syrup in jars which you hope is real syrup.
The service was not good. The server did not come back after we ordered. We did not get any refills.
Overall the food is ok. However based on what I stated I am not sure I would be back.

We just grabbed a quick burger at the diner Esther was our waitress and she did everything to make sure we were happy. Unfortunately, we could overhear the host Mo speaking down to her quite a few times and we really felt sorry for her. That should not be allowed especially when the diner is pretty crowded and everybody sitting there could hear but thank you Esther. We had a lovely dinner.

Once we entered the door we immediately experienced a throwback to a diner in a bygone time. It was a pleasure walking into a warm and welcoming restaurant. We were greeted by our server that immediately answered a few questions about the menu options. We ordered the travelers and the Tel Aviv omelettes (both with rye toast and crispy home fries which were very good) along with a side order of corned beef hash. Now I never thought of ever having corned beef and pastrami in an omelette, but I now know that it is a great combination that should be enjoyed by everyone. It had copious amounts of that delicious deli meat along with an abundance of Swiss cheese. It was so overstuffed that I could only eat about a third of it. The same could be said for the travelers, it too was overstuffed. Since these omelettes were so huge, we took home about 90% of the corned beef hash (we just wanted to try it anyway). We also took our omelettes home that we ate for the next 2 days (that’s a budget saver). Just want to mention that the coffee was rich, dark and delicious. Lastly, I want to compliment our server who was not only very pleasant, but on top of ensuring that we were enjoying our breakfast. A nice surprise on a weekend day that happened by accident, wasn’t even on our radar as our original plans didn’t work out. Highly recommend, at least for breakfast, but based on our experience, I would give it a try for lunch and dinner.
