Short and sweet — This was a 4/4 restaurant (that is, there was four of us — Roland, Caro, Paula, and me) and all four of us were very happy with our meals. Paula had only one minor displeasure which was that the bottom bun of the Bacon Jam burger was a bit soggy — probably from the juices. Other than that, totally delicious! So I’ve already mentioned Paula’s plate, and then Roland got the Grilled Meatloaf on a bed of mashed potatoes; Carol got the Lobster Cardinale, and I got the Braised Beef and Pork Rigatoni, which I thought was remarkable. Yum, yum, yum. Roland and I both got a Maker’s Mark Manhattan, and both of us were happy with how it looked, tasted, and felt. Complimentary warm and delicious bread with dipping oil, as well as butter, with refill. Our waitress was Nichole. She was friendly, helpful, and busy. Roland singled out what appeared to be either an owner or manager, and asked him the former name of the restaurant, which we’d visited together something like 30 years ago. Whatever his position, he was friendly and informative, and even took our empty plates. We’ll definitely keep Meritage on our list of better restaurants (as we’re starting to narrow down the places we want to visit more often rather than totally exploring all the time), and we’ll plan to visit more often than every 30 years ago. Sorry that I have only one photo — it’s my Braised Beef and Pork Rigatoni. I’m slipping these days.

I went with a friend and we did the restaurant week menu. There are many good entree options being offered. The lobster cardinale was delicious. The menu offered an appetizer and dessert choice as well. We both enjoyed their iceberg wedge made with their house bleu cheese dressing. Yum. Dessert choice…expresso martini, which we enjoyed pre-dinner Our waitress Nicole was amazing, super friendly and very attentive.

Ambiance and service are good. However, I would argue that the food and the value isn’t good.

Most of the food is lacking in portion size for cost, as well as general flavor. I found that the tuna steak appetizer was slightly overcooked (not sure how) and had a fishy taste.

The portion sizes of the food and what is charged for them doesn’t really add up. If you add chicken to the pasta with marinara, you’re looking at ~$28 for what is the equivalent of maybe 4 fork fulls of angle hair and a chicken nuggets worth of chicken.

Its a leg up from Greggs or Chelos, but I would argue that Greggs and Chelos are probably a better value for a somewhat equivalent meal.

The service staff do a great job and are attentive, which is the saving grace. Probably won’t come back unless we get a gift card.

A long and well established restaurant in East Greenwich. One of the few restaurants open on a Monday evening.
First off, the service was impeccable. Very well trained and professional staff despite their seemingly youthful appearance. Very professional, a credit to their training. A very clean and warm professional setting. Certain kind of business casual charm in the dining area, large picture windows in the back parking area that showed very nice greenery and almost forest like background. It doesn’t look like a parking lot although you’ll see some cars.
Now to the food. I had the Kabob Trio (?) Shrimp, scallops and filet on a skewer over Jasmine rice. The rice was eye-openingly good and surprising. Well made jasmine rice and seasoned . Could believe how good it was (by default, my ethnicity would give me an advantage in judging rice quality over most)
The kabob ob the other hand, less impressive. No, it wasn’t bad, far from it. However, it was bit bland at best. It was like nothing was seasoned. Couldn’t pick up any hints of flavor aside from the proteins themselves. The shrimp, the scallop and the beef. It was well made, prepared and cooked and served well. Wait staff was excellent. The dish just lacked that “oompf” or wow factor. Still, it was ok. No regrets. Just not impressive.
My Wife was less impressed with her meal. Just didn’t strike her flavor pallet. She had the pork tenderloin. She described it was “Greggs+” (another long established local RI restaurant) I had a bite and I could understand where she was coming from but I disagreed with the severity of her description. I found it a bit more flavorful than my own dish and far better than Gregg’s (which is more like a diner than a restaurant).

The deserts were good. A nice touch of theater with flaming marshmallows for my daughter dish. They were so good that it may cause you to overeat a bit. I had an espresso which was good, not memorable but still good.

Overall a good meal, excellent service and great deserts. Its a nice place to catch up with friends and family. It’s jus not a memorable dining experience.

Party of 4. 3 drinks,4 entrées, 1 appetizer & desert: $225+

Incredible experience. Lots of gluten free options, and my husband said the ribeye steak was 10/10! The gluten free pizza was incredible. Our waiter Ethan was so friendly, knowledgeable, professional made our dinner so memorable. Levi brought many of our dishes out and went above and beyond to make sure we were happy with everything. Can’t say enough good things about our time here. The ambiance is upscale and cozy, perfect for a special occasion or dinner with family. Highly recommend!!

I have been going here for many years, but never on a Mother’s Day, but since it’s my favorite we decided to go with a party of 11. I found it very different from past visits. Lots of new faces and menu changes not for the best. Drinks were not the same. Food was good. Service was 4 out of 5 . I missed the familiar faces like Derrick coming over and asking how everything was. Very odd the place wasn’t as packed as usual lots of bar seats which was rare and empty tables. Please bring back the zippy shrimp my favorite.

We enjoyed the service from Isaiah and found the restaurant aesthetically pleasing. For the most part, we liked the food, especially the pork tenderloin medallions and the mashed sweet potatoes. However, the ribeye was a poor cut of meat and was completely absent of flavor. I requested steak sauce which is something I have never done in my life.
