We were at Mercato this past Saturday night, and the place MUST be under new management – but not for the better. The energy was very chaotic and wait times on all fronts were way too long. Okay – so we’re here getting drinks and the bartender Anna is completely incompetent. Rude and disinterested throughout all our interactions. She messed up our drink order 3 consecutive times, and proceeded to roll her eyes at us over her own mistakes?? Not sure who hires a bartender who doesn’t know how to bartend, or communicate properly with customers. Mercato was very disorganized, just negative energy all around, especially behind that bar. When we left, we asked the hostess the name of the new manager and she said “Josh.” I wanted to chat with him about the poor service, but after observing him interact with other customers and even his own serving staff, he presented to be just as incompetent. Josh has turned Mercato into a dumpster fire. When manager Shant was here, this place was ran much better. Take your money anywhere else, and save yourself a massive headache.

Food was good! Service was on point. The bill was what I expected. Always try and make your reservation prior.

First time here, and to the area but scallop special I had was massacre of a mess.

Scallops (6 small) seared only on one side, the foot still on the scallop (those who know, know) smothered in Cajun seasoned. We r not talking a little- we are talking the whole 12 canister of red fish blackening seasoning on them.

Risotto over took the whole plate, bland at best. The supposedly crispy pork something? burnt but in a bad way, and the 4 pieces of limp asparagus stalks….you are kidding?

The only redeeming factors were the server, and how strong my limoncello cocktail was. the tiramisu to go was nice too.

Wow-5 stars all the way! From the incredible service to the wonderful food! We were looking for a slightly higher level of dining this evening and were not disappointed! The atmosphere inside was beautiful and not noisy at all. Our waiter (wish I could remember his name) was SO helpful and very attentive. Let me start out by saying my mother was an incredible Italian cook, so I consider myself a bit snobbish (in my head of course, never verbally!) with some foods, especially meatballs! I almost never eat them out, and was talked into trying them by our lovely waiter. I could not believe how incredible they were! Definitely worth all the calories! I actually wondered whose grandmother was tucked away in the kitchen! (apologies if it was a male chef! :-)) The Veal Mercato was tender and a surprise to my taste buds, complete with Italian Sausage to give it some added zip. Pretty sure the pasta dish was a bolgnese, which was excellent as well. I would definitely come back here next time we are in town!

Amazing experience on Saturday night. Food was great. Grouper was great and good size. Veal Riviera, substituted linguini for mashed potatoes. A little annoying that pasta was a $5.00 up charge. Server was very nice, attentive. A little loud but it was a Saturday . Definitely a place we’ll come back to.

We had a $25 gift card from a summer meal that was not up to their standards. The mgr gave the $25GC asking us to come back. Called in a take out order and it was obvious the person on the phone was very new. She had to check with a mgr several times while taking my order and I needed to repeat it several times. She was very nice and apologized for the wait I was very nice and patient with her. When I picked up my order. I was told they did not have roasted potatoes anymore-it’s been months since they had them. I substituted mashed potatoes. I confirmed that their website menu had roasted potatoes listed. I checked the order and It was missing one main meal. She misunderstood on our call and took the Chicken Piccata off the order. I had to wait about 10 minutes for that dish. I looked at my bill while waiting and noticed that I was over charged for almost every item on my order-according to the prices on their website. I questioned this when I was given my missing dish and she explained that the broccoli rabe was an up charge. I had spent enough time at Mercato to continue to discuss this. The team needs to update their website with the current prices as it feels deceitful to the customer. I understand training new team members but there should be support for them to get it right for the customer.

Overall dining experience was quite good, despite the extended wait to be seated. Reservations were confirmed and still there was an extended wait time, it was annoying to be standing in the cramped narrow space. Giving four stars since the food and service was great. Our server Aidan was exceptional and made sure our dining experience was pleasant.
Food quality was amazing.

UPDATE: STAY AWAY! YOUR PATRONAGE IS NOT VALUED! When I did not get a reply from the owners or manager to my email, I then wrote a letter addressed directly to both owners and the owners have never replied to me. That’s 2 snubs to written requests. I think the public has a right to know that these owners obviously have no interest in customer satisfaction. At the very least, I would expect an owner to reach out to the dissatisfied customers to acknowledge the restaurant’s disservice to us. Instead, they showed they can’t be bothered. WHY WOULD ANYONE WANT TO SPEND THEIR HARD EARNED MONEY AT THIS ESTABLISHMENT WHEN THE OWNERS WON’T EVEN REPLY TO A CUSTOMER THAT TAKES THE TIME TO EXPRESS THEIR DISSATISFACTION? I WAS RESPECTFUL, MY COMPLAINT WAS VALID, YET THE OWNERS ARE OKAY WITH OVERCHARGING ME!! GO TO LIMONCELLO INSTEAD, WHERE YOU ARE APPRECIATED BY THE VERY VISIBLE OWNERS, AND IT’S WAY BETTER! WITH SO MANY GOOD RESTAURANTS IN WEST CHESTER, GO WHERE YOUR PATRONAGE IS APPRECIATED!

Food was very good. It wasn’t until we received our bill that I became dissatisfied. Our bill did not match the menu prices, being charged more for wine and one dinner. When I questioned this, asked to see the menu again, and server checked, she said I was right, but their point of service charges on the computer were more than menu and she did not offer to get the manager or to honor their menu prices. It was an “oh well”. I should have pushed to speak to a manager, but didn’t. My mistake, I should have. Then, she debited our card instead of charging to credit, so there was no way for me to dispute. I then followed up by sending an email to the manager/owner and that has been ignored. So, despite a good meal, we will never go back. Extremely disappointed in their lackadaisical attitude toward doing the right thing and honoring the prices listed on their menu and correcting to satisfy the customer. Besides that being the right thing to do.

We visited Mercato Ristorante to celebrate our daughter’s birthday and had a good time with good food. The service was very good and the atmosphere of the location was nice. The bread and sauce was good. The sauce was cold (which I believe it’s meant to be that way) and good but had it been warm it would have been awesome. We ordered the chicken Parmesan, Penn vodka, and chicken Marsala. The chicken parm was very good and so was the Marsala and penne vodka meals. We also ordered cappuccinos which were ok and slightly warm – not hot- and we were told the milk may have cooled it down. Overall a good experience.

I am extremely disappointed at the lack of professionalism from management. I book an onsite event reservation for 31 guest for my grandsons baptism luncheon. We were booked in the wine cellar for the event. This reservation was booked several months in advance and I communicated directly with both managers via phone and email. I received the menu and was clearly informed in writing that my event was booked. Because the event was scheduled in advance, I followed up monthly with John and Shant to confirm everything was still on track. I was told a manager would co tact me two weeks before the event, which never happened. When I called to follow up, I was told by a staff member that NO RESERVATION EXISTED, and the manager was unavailable. The staff member said that someone would called me back qnd they never did. This was especially upsetting given that I have written confirmation of the event and the event is 10 days away! This situation left me in a panic and I have had to schedule the event somewhere else to be sure I have a venue confirmed for this event, which is in 10 days
Shame on you for doing this to a long time patron.
