What a great experience my wife and I had for breakfast on our way home from Fall Creek Falls to Northern Kentucky. We love to stop in at local diners and eat, and this place is a gem. None other than Mel herself was our server and she took wonderful care to make our experience the best. Coffee was hot and the food was home cooking deliciousness!!!! The Biscuits and gravy were stellar and the home fries were amazing. Sliced and fried. JUST PERFECT!!

Traveling home from camping at Fall Creek Falls and this was a gem!! Breakfast- order the biscuits!! BoJangles have nothing in Mel’s! Service- personal and perfect. Great place to stop!

I loved the original OTC, but Mel’s OTC taking debit/credit cards is a GAME CHANGER!!! My dad had been telling me to stop by for a while and I finally did. Got my son a grilled cheese, and some fries. I grabbed some tatter wedges and slaw.
The slaw was really good. It reminded me of a more sophisticated KFC slaw. Texture was similar but the flavor was much better. Also the tatter wedges were great. The crinkle cut fries were the weakest element. Kinda soggy and desperate for salt, but everything else was good, cheap, and fast.

Group of 6, welcomed and treated with the best southern hospitality and personalities. Food was hot and delicious, made us a fresh pot of coffee for evening meal. Our table shared Corn nuggets ,, ordered included vegetable soup,, chicken tenders,, hamburger and ribeye steaks,, ham and cheese sandwich,, we all enjoyed our food. Even delicious desserts to go. Many choices and very reasonable prices.

Look – this isn’t Bern’s Steakhouse in Tampa, FL…this is Mel’s OTC in our wonderful little town of Spencer, TN. The staff are always friendly and the food is very affordable. The pies and cakes they sell by the slice on the counter should never be underestimated! If you are from out of town – ask for Sun Drop cake. If they don’t have it? Pick something else. You won’t be disappointed! (PRO TIP: Don’t speed on your way in/out…this is Slow Down, Spencer – and we like it that way)

Not bad but they say it is a buffet but you get charged each time you go up. The hot dog in the kids meal the bun was stale and the hot dog was tough the Philly sandwich was expensive to not come with a side and not a lot of meat not huge drink selection

Visited the cafe on 9/17/2025. Food was excellent, hot and large portions. Service was also excellent. Young man that waited our table was very pleasant and helpful. Staff was very accommodating. We will definitely be back when we are in the area. And highly recommend it!
