History We wanted to get authentic Indian cuisine to Asheville and were looking for a spot with high footfall. Downtown seemed a perfect area due to the tourists visiting during the season and the locals during the slow times. We were lucky to find the location we’re at and then started the story. We put together a team which believed in itself and did not compromise on quality and standard. Mehfil won a number of rewards in the first year including the best Indian restaurant from Best of Avl. We have a great team and are grateful to the community for the encouragement and support that we receive. Mëhfil brings authentic Indian food in a beautiful, relaxed and traditionally decorated space.

Honestly? I’m not a huge Indian food eater, some friends of mine wanted to go. I tried several dishes and they were all wonderful. I HIGHLY recommend any of the stuffed/seasoned Naans! They were my favorite. The server was so kind and patient with helping me find something, even brought me a delicious tomato sauce to dip my naan into which I ate off leftovers for days after! Excellent experience!

Was here for dinner, cute place in the heart of downtown. Service was not great at the beginning. No one tend to us just because the host was busy. Anyway, the food was very average for Indian food. It could be more flavorful. We had the non-veg mixed platter, Mehfil chicken curry, garlic & bullet naan. The shrimp in the platter was underdone, the sleep kebab was the only good one. We were not even given the drink menu, while the other tables had received both the food and the drink menus, not sure what why.

Went there for dinner on sunday evening, without reservations but the owner was kind enough to accommodate us. We ordered gobi manchurian, kadhai paneer , malai kofta, garlic naan served with complimentary white rice. The food was average except gobi manchurian which was very good , wait time was more than 40 min, service was slow. We also ordered kids fries which came out the last after 45 min of ordering. Overall an average experience.

⭐ Mehfil Restaurant – Mixed Experience ⭐
Food & Taste:
Kadai Paneer – good and flavorful ✅
Paneer dishes – too much food color ❌
Chilli Garlic Naan – very flavorful and nice
Tandoori Roti – very thin, poor quality, tastes like maida ❌
Dal Makhani – tastes good but not authentic Punjabi style (mixed with channa dal)
Kheer – amazing, thick, and delicious ⭐
Chana – good
Veg Tandoori Platter – overpriced, very tangy, not recommended
Service & Hygiene:
Washroom was not clean ❌
Staff doesn’t understand the Indian menu well
One uncle was very kind and helpful, which was appreciated
Overall:
Some dishes are really good (kheer, kadai paneer, naan), but hygiene, authenticity, and pricing need improvement. An average experience.⭐ Mehfil Restaurant – Mixed Experience ⭐

My friends and I came to this Indian food restaurant because our first choice was closed. We were greeted warmly and right away then seated within a couple of minutes. The atmosphere was nice. Since I’m not an expert at ordering the food I looked up photos of their food and made some choices. Tandoori Artichoke to share and Chicken Malai Kebab. The portions were ample! The flavors were out of this world. I only wished I could eat more, as we all tasted each other’s food.
Our server was so attentive, and the manager came by to check on us as well. Our glasses were always full.
The restaurant became busy and they were also busy sending out large amounts of catering at the same time. But service never lacked.
I look forward to coming back here with my family and recommend you give it a try.

Be aware that the restaurant closes for a few hours after lunch and reopens for dinner. If you plan on dining here during the holidays or on the weekends you might want to make a reservation, because it can get quite busy. We did not know this and my party of four was told it would be around 1 hour wait. We were about to leave and the host said we could sit at the bar if we wanted. This worked out great! The bartender,Francisco, took care of us and we enjoyed watching him make drinks while we waited for our food. We even enjoyed one of their non-alcoholic cocktails. The food was served more quickly than we expected despite the busy restaurant. Everything looked wonderful, smelled amazing, and tasted delicious. We had two vegetarians dining with us, which is why we chose this restaurant, because they had a good selection of dishes for them. We ordered one lamb biryani, one navratan korma, one lamb badam korma, one malai kofta, one garlic naan, one butter naan, one saag naan, and one kachumbar salad. Everything was perfect but of special note was the large portion size of the lamb biryani, and the raita that came with it was so delicious. Also, the saag naan was served with a mango mayonnaise that was a surprise hit with our whole group. Thank you to Mehfil. We were grateful for our Christmas eve dinner. The only thing I would change is that the water pressure in the mens restroom sink was very low and it made it more challenging to wash my hands.

We were here for the first time, for buffet at 1.45pm (close to closing time). They did accommodate us politely and kindly unlike other Indian restaurants showing no tantrums and we ended up taking a to go for our whole group. Francisco assisted us with the order and he is a gem of person, he helped us choose right dish with right spice level. I didn’t expect such a courteous response but they were incredible with service and we were more than happy and satisfied to stop by here on our way to hot springs. Must visit this place everyone is cordial and friendly.

Genuinely some of the best Indian food I’ve ever had. The quality and flavor is unbeatable. It is so aromatic and favorable. Portions are large and definitely worth the price. Service was excellent and many people were checking in on the table. I have no complaints. 10/10 recommend. (I should have taken the photos before hand but I was hungry)

We ordered samosa, chicken lollipop, chilli paneer, goat biryani, kaju masala, and bullet naan. Unfortunately, the samosa and chicken lollipop were served cold, and the chicken was not cooked properly. After raising a complaint, the staff promptly took back the chicken lollipop, and we decided to order chilli chicken instead, which turned out to be good.
The management visited our table twice to check on us, which we appreciated. The environment was nice, but the portion sizes were not sufficient for the price. Overall, the experience felt a bit costly for the quantity and quality provided.
