Then I spend 30 minutes trying to get support to cancel the order.
I don’t know about other dashers but from my end I can’t see what the customer orders until I arrive at the establishment. Then and only then can I see. So when I pulled up tonight and was told it’s breakfast, I responded with ok thanks but then I asked again what time does it start so I’ll know ahead of time to contact the customer, but you ignored me just like the other McDonald’s. Was I rude? No. So why such bad treatment? Try driving around in a busted car all day long and get horrible treatment from people and still remain positive. Yeah it’s not easy but you don’t see me being rude. Do better.
1. Remove the curbside pickup option here. There’s no designated spots, but one sign that is a difficult to see. After driving around the block and finding it, it made me go inside.
2. Don’t expect customers to understand McDonalds terminology. Telling me it’s staged means nothing to me. But when you say that and look at me like I am the problem, it’s very frustrating. I get that you can’t just hand out food to people. But when your technology fails, it’s not my fault.
The older woman at the counter was very nice, though. She kept checking on my orders as I waited. That’s why you get a 2. She doubled your score.
We decided to give this McDonald’s at 44961 Woodward Ave in Pontiac another try because it looked like they’d completely switched out the staff and management. Historically, service here has been awful—slow, rude, mistakes—so we normally drive a bit farther to the one on South Telegraph in Bloomfield Hills, which is always reliable with great, friendly service.
This time, we placed a big order (around $80) for me, my three boys, and their three cousins via the kiosk. There was an immediate mix-up with the order. When I asked politely if we could cancel or correct it before it went too far, the employee said no because it was kiosk-processed—which I understand might be policy—but she was quite rude and short-tempered about it, like she was having a bad day and taking it out on us (with kids right there, which made it extra uncomfortable).
The food came out eventually, but then I overheard her going back to coworkers and gossiping negatively about me and the kids—nothing I could directly confront, but the tone was clear and unprofessional.
Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem like the changes I hoped for (new staff/management) have improved things. The vibe still feels off and toxic, with the same consistent bad service we’ve experienced before.
If you’re in the area, I’d skip this one and go to the South Telegraph location in Bloomfield Hills instead—it’s worth the short extra drive for accurate orders and actually friendly people.
1 star: The food is standard McDonald’s, but the service and attitude really hurt the experience. Won’t be returning here.
