The history of McCormick & Schmick’s Seafood Restaurants began when Bill McCormick purchased Jake’s Famous Crawfish Restaurant located in Portland, Oregon, and brought the more than 100-year-old landmark back to life. When asked the secret of how he revitalized a restaurant on the brink of closing, McCormick says, I like nothing better than being a good host. Part of the managerial talent McCormick tapped was Doug Schmick, a management trainee. The two formed a partnership in 1974, creating Traditional Concepts, a precursor to today’s McCormick & Schmick’s Seafood Restaurants. In 1979, they opened the original McCormick & Schmick’s Seafood Restaurant in Portland, Oregon.

The food was absolutely incredible. The slightly seared tuna was delicious. And the dessert! I have been searching for a good chocolate silk pie for decades to replace a childhood favorite I can no longer obtain. This place was finally able to make that dream come true! What a great ambiance by looking over the marina and the Willamette River. Sitting at a shaded table on a hot day with a cool.breeze really ends the day with peace and relaxation; what a fun and relaxing atmosphere. My family enjoyed drinking chilled beverages and enjoying delicious foods, appetizers and just enjoying the clean and classy environment. We will definately be back! The scallop linguini with fresh herbs and roasted pine nuts was made perfectly!

Service amazing, food amazing, atmosphere amazing. This was the best place we went for dinner in PDX. Wild sockeye salmon was absolutely delicious and I would get it every opportunity I could get. Place is right across from a marina so you get this spectacular view of the water and bridge. Apple pie was literally the best dessert I have had in a long time.

Holy cow. Where to start? So, we initially were going to go to Black Angus, but the reviews were so bad we decided against that. I have family visiting from the east coast, so we made reservations for here instead. Well first, the reservation was for 7:30p. They waited for me to arrive so we ordered drinks around 7:50p. The drinks didn’t arrive until around 8:15p and then only 2 of the drinks came out. The waiter NEVER came back during that time to take our appetizer orders or to let us know the bar was searching for bitters for my drink. No check back or anything. And I get it, I work at a restaurant where the management doesn’t stock bitters at the bar either, so that actually wasn’t far fetched- but not checking in but pre-bussing the table of 8 directly in front of us, looking at us and then walking off was trash. Once I went and spoke with the host stand is when the waiter finally came back and said they were waiting on the bitters and didn’t want to only bring two drinks– which they still did.

Terrible food. Service was courteous, hence the one star. I got the most ridiculous dish that came with literally whole carrots and cucumber – why??? If the server recommends the Salmon Bowl, do not get it. Another overpriced tourist trap. Won’t be going back ever.
