“For $32 (beef bulalo) I was expecting a hearty soup. Instead, I received a modest bowl with a few stray vegetables and a hint of meat—hardly enough for one person, let alone the 3–4 it supposedly serves. Unless those people are on a liquid diet, the portion size is laughable. A truly bold pricing strategy for such a minimal offering.”
“When we pointed out that the soup had almost no meat, the staff helpfully took it back—only to return with the meat separated from the broth, as if to prove the portion was sufficient. Unfortunately, separating the ingredients only made it more obvious how little there was. For $32, you’d expect more than a few scraps of meat and a thin broth. They claim it serves 3–4 people; maybe if those people aren’t particularly hungry. A creative approach to customer service, but not one that changes the facts.”
This restaurant is grossly overpriced and completely disappointing.

Max’s Restaurant instantly took me back to the Philippines with every bite. The flavors were just as I remembered from dining at Max’s back home. From the rich, savory Laing to their iconic ‘sarap-to-the-bones’ fried chicken, each dish made me feel like I was right back in the Philippines.

Wow..! Max’s in Chula Vista is amazing. For starters, their service is impeccable. Got seated right away, very friendly servers.
The food – I’m a first timer of Philippine food and it was absolutely delicious. Everything was made to perfection, and I was told all their food is made to order, which I could certainly tell by the quality of ingredients!
Atmosphere – The whole restaurant had such a cool modern hip vibe to it – very chic and trendy. This is the kind of place where you want to experience something new and fresh to the area.
Oh and they have some beer too! Philippino type beer of course which was pretty awesome, I had a nice lager that went well with my food.
Very clean and well organized restaurant across the board.
Will be coming back for sure ..!
Highly recommend! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Amazing. Delicious. Outstanding. The words that best describe this restaurant. The food was fresh, hot and served on time. From the moment you walk in you feel like family. Fantastic customer service. Everything from the Crispy Pata to the soup named Bulalo. The Lumpia Appetizers were hot. The sauce divine. Great place to eat. Make the time to enjoy this place.

I’ve been staying in San Diego for almost 6 years now and this is the first time that I have been here. I wish I went sooner. Everything reminded me of my time growing up in the Philippines.
The food was great. We ordered their fried chicken, sisig and kare-kare. The service was great as well as the food got to our table quickly. The food was quite expensive though but I’ll definitely go back.

The food was excellent. Beef Caldaron, garlic rice, and the chicken was amazing. Kare kare was also great. On their first day, the service was excellent. There was always a server ready for refills.

Max’s restaurant is located in Otay Ranch, right across from the Otay Ranch mall. They have all kinds of Filipino cuisine, they are known for their fried chicken to be eaten with banana ketchup. The restaurant has a clean and beautiful layout. Currently there is one location in San Diego, they are planning on opening a second location towards the end of the year and beginning of next year 2020 in Mira Mesa, specifically in the previous Fuddruckers building. So standby all Asian restaurants, you will have some competition from the restaurant of the Philippine cuisine, because Max’s is coming to have their ton of selections and a large customer base. And we all know that Filipinos support each other and they have a desire for great tasting food and that’s what they deliver.

The food was excellent and the service was both friendly and fast. I’ll definitely be coming back for more! My favorite was their signature chicken-it was juicy, flavorful, and perfectly crunchy all the way to the bone.

Mango juice 0 star ( taste like water ), palabok 2 star, ubod lumpia 2 star, garlic rice 3 star, fried chicken 3 star, service 2 star, ambiance 4 star and for the price 2 star ( i would understand paying more because of the location but the price of the food is not worth paying specially if its not that delicious. I gave it a 3 star because they are new and needs improvement.
Change my review from 3 to 5 because they did change from ok to better. Good job management for serving us better food.

DISAPPOINTED half chicken was like the size of a baby chicken.
The pancit was more servings than the chicken all for $32. Sorry I won’t be going back. Hope this helps anyone else.
