Yikes, haven’t been in a while and this was terrible. Not crispy despite being well done, no cheese on outside 2-3 inches and no sauce where there was cheese. At $25 for pizza they are not going to last with this poor quality. It is 3 min from my house and I won’t be going back any time soon.

Thursday dinner out for two. I had a tasty, dinner-sized arugula salad with manchego cheese, which would’ve benefited from shaved onions or tomatoes. A bit pricy. Good service, nice casual atmosphere.

We decided to try take out pizza. The restaurant is very small… Our go to that we compare to all others, sausage and mushroom. It was very good. The toppings were really really good. Mushrooms were fresh. The tomato sauce was excellent..
not that sweet pizza sauce from a can. Sausage was good. I didnt taste any fennel, but thats not a must… the crust was cooked but definitely not crisp. The dough was tasty though just not crisp (see the pizza sagged). We tried to resurrect the crust in the air fryer without much luck. I make pizza at home on the grill so I am a little persnickity.

I get it. This is wood fired pizza but… the pizza would be perfect if they could reduce the char! It rates 5 stars on first go bite but the burnt flavor only strengthens the more you eat. Service is excellent!

Newly opened and first time visit. Excellent but small draft choices. Food was delicious. Parking it seems driving by at night looks like it may be an issue. Not sure if they take reservations but if they do I would recommend it especially for weekend dinner. The restaurant is small but they did an excellent job with the renovations and has great ambiance.

Went to Max & Leo’s on a Saturday afternoon for takeout pizza and salad. The guy who answered the phone and took the order was rude (that should have been the first clue that things would not be good…). The $11 small size salad had very little bacon in it and came with no salad dressing. When you pay that much for a salad one would expect it to come with dressing. The pizza was awful. Burnt on the bottom and top (that takes talent!). The place was not busy so I’m puzzled as to how the pizza came out so badly…Would not recommend this place and am not planning on going back!

Previously enjoyed Max and Leo’s Pizza at Newton Corner though now prefer Sudbury due to the draft beer offerings (Lunch and Substance – for beer enthusiasts). Both places have a similar pizza, ‘exquisite’ (Boston Globe). There is a format of walking in, waving to Joy and choosing the preferred booth. Never had to wait and once you know not to stand to be ushered; you’re fine. For consumers basing pizza on how cheap it is; this is not for you. For those that value flavor, a light char (per request), and quality ingredients – then experiment here. Reliable and valid pizza all the time, so far. Being in small town Sudbury limits numbers (thankfully not too busy for lunch). The staff are kind, considerate and informed. Joy in particular who brings it. It’s disguised as a sports bar though it is really a special pizzeria and consistently good.

I want to start off by saying- the host was so amazing and helpful, went above and beyond truly. My issues arose with the kitchen staff. My partner is diabetic and vegetarian so restaurants being accommodating to dietary restrictions is EXTREMELY important to both of us, and this is where max and Leo’s missed the mark. We ordered a pizza with a bit of a specific request- tater tots on top (rather than pepperoni, chicken, etc since we don’t eat meat) and they did it with no issue the first two times ordered. However, after the second time ordering the host informed us they can no longer accommodate this item for us without charging for the pizza and whole side of tater tots. It didn’t really make sense to me tbh, and the very friendly host also couldn’t rlly understand the kitchens reasoning. I just don’t think needing a meal to have special accommodations should make a pizza now cost $30 🙁 super disappointing honestly.

Cozy, laid back pizza joint. The pizza is delicious and a lot of options for whatever you’re feeling. Fairly pricey for what you get though, around ~$20 for a lot of the pizzas, service was a little slow they seem understaffed.

When the pizza came out, the dough was so burnt that I genuinely thought it was made with squid ink.
During our first visit last month, the overall experience and food were great, so we didn’t want to make a big deal out of it. We tried to remove some burnt parts and continued eating. However, after a couple of bites and noticing clearly burnt pepperonis, we informed our server that the pizza seemed too burnt.
Her response was, “That’s the way it should be.”
I’ve tried hundreds of coal-fired pizzas in my life, but I’ve never encountered a squid-ink-burnt dough pizza before. So I don’t entirely agree with her assessment.
Hopefully, this was a fluke, and the server was new. We enjoyed their pizza a lot during our first visit, but honestly, this was a HUGE letdown.
