Went for a Wednesday lunch and had their lunch special which included reen salad with a light Asian dressing,4 nigiri sushi, 1 hand roll (originally a spicy tuna roll, but they offered to make it a California roll), some udon with green onion and a kamaboko slice, and 4 pcs of vegetable tempura and a shrimp tempura for less than $16. And free green tea which was refilled a couple of times, even though it was busy with a couple of groups waiting. Food was delicious and reasonably priced.

Good, comfort food-like Japanese food experience. Their combos are quite generous and priced well. The food is nothing over-the-top but rather felt solid and had no weaknesses in any particular dish. Waiting for a table can take a little while if you have a party over 4.

Fantastic Japanese food. Great bowls, great sushi, but definitely get the tempura.
Some cool artifacts for baseball fans as well.

This place is remarkable for its excellent prices and quite large portions of classic Japanese diner food. The quality is solid, too. I particularly liked their takes on karaage and sunomono. I also liked that they serve mugicha by default instead of ice water—an unexpected but very nice touch! Our only complaint was that the kitchen was oddly slow to send out the karaage and appetizers, which only showed up twenty minutes after all the other food had made it to the table. Not sure what was going on there, but I’m certainly willing to come back and try more of the menu!

Remember when $20 got you a good meal? Well, Matsui to the rescue! The Manager’s Special you get sushi, assorted tempura, a bowl of soba (or udon) and a side salad. All for $18? I mean it’s a legit-ly good meal!

Matsui is my favorite lunch and dinner spot! The food is always amazing, and the prices are just as good. I love their combos — I’ve tried most of them by now, and they’re all so good. My favorite lately has been the soba and sushi combo. Try their eel too!
The service is always consistent, and the food is always consistent too, which I really appreciate. Everything is fresh, tasty, and just hits the spot every single time. Highly recommend if you’re craving sushi, noodles, or both!

Visited Matsui this past weekend after a while, and it’s still one of those spots that just hits. The menu’s big, so you can go classic or mix it up depending on what you’re feeling, and everything feels consistent without being boring. The nabeyaki udon was the standout for me — warm, hearty, and perfect for a chilly night. Katsu don and the soft shell crab salad are also solid picks, and the zaru soba and okonomiyaki are worth trying if you want something different. Portions are decent, prices feel fair, and it’s one of those spots you can reliably come back to when you want good Japanese comfort food without overthinking it.

Their lunch special and dinner specials are pretty good! The price is very reasonable. I went on the weekend, they only have dinner special all weekend! It’s $16.95 for sushi + tempura + udon + salad. I think it’s worth it! Their portions are also pretty good. They serve barley tea instead of water so it’s different. The space is small and it does get busy during lunch hour. They did add an outdoor seating so that’s nice since it’s still during pandemic. They do not ask for your vaccine card, but the staffs do wear their masks.
