Dining Colorado
This place IS the authentic Oaxacan experience in Boulder. From delicious, tableside guac and mezcal margaritas to savory, scratch kitchen dishes, this is Boulder’s newest and BEST food experience.

What an unexpected gem! Visiting from out of town and my 83-year old father mentioned a new Mexican place… We were expecting more of the (tasty) usual, and found a delicious, unique experience that knocked our socks off. From my Dad’s mole negra to the fermented cocktails (with and without booze) — everything was fabulous. My sister thinks her entree was the best fish she’s ever had. Plus the space is absolutely gorgeous and our server was so helpful. We loved it!

Deep rich warm and flavorful! This place is amazing and is our new favorite for Mexican food. This is in spite of the fact that we are more accustomed to New Mexican style cuisine. We had the salsas, guacamole, carnitas and enmolidas. The chili/oil style salsa was something we’d never had before, it was smoky but not overly spicey with crisp garlic and peanuts. So many new flavors! Every single dish was a happy surprise, we all shared tastes around because everything was so good and interesting. Definitely check this place out while it’s still easy to get in. Loved it. Super nice staff too!

What a gift to Boulder! Beautiful atmosphere, fantastic food and wonderful service. The bar is extraordinary but the menu also has incredible house made fermented drinks like the Chicha Morada, made from blue corn with delicate spices and pineapple. From the fresh salsas to the Aguachile, the starters were bright and delightful. The main courses offer some familiar dishes like Carnitas but we veered towards the Quesabirria and Scallops al Ajillo and were thrilled. We can’t wait to come back!

Food was 7/10. The ambiance was 9/10. Unfortunately, this is one of those places in Boulder that looks good but leaves much to be desired on the food front. I want this place to succeed as I’ve seen many restaurants in this location, but I hope management can focus more on the food and less on the “look”. We spent $50 on two entrees and we both left feeling hungry. Please price the portions properly.

We went to Masas for our anniversary. When we arrived, they didn’t have our reservation on file, although thankfully there was plenty of space. The ambiance was fantastic – great vibe, and lovely waitstaff. Our drinks were wonderful, as was dessert, although our vegetarian entrees were very bland (albeit beautifully presented.) We were hoping for something special on the entree front, and were disappointed. I would go back for happy hour, although I don’t know that we’d return for dinner.

Good atmosphere but poorly run. Restaurant was completely empty and yet the service was subpar. If there is literally 5 people in the restaurant and you aren’t extremely attentive to your customers in that situation, I can’t imagine what it would be like when busy.
