West Tennessee’s legendary whole-hog BBQ tradition is the cornerstone of Martin’s Bar-B-Que Joint. Pat Martin learned the art and craft of West Tennessee-style smoke and meat 25 years ago in the tiny town of Henderson, TN before making Nashville his home. It became a consuming passion that eventually led to a business when he opened the first Martin’s Bar-B-Que Joint in October of 2006 in Nolensville, Tennessee – just south of Nashville. We come in at 5 am, every day, seven days a week. From the sides to the sauces, everything is made from scratch every single day – You’ll never find a freezer or microwave in our kitchens. But the bar-b-que actually starts a day ahead, as the process for smoking whole hogs simply can’t be rushed.

We also got a shot of the Belle Meade whiskey and that was smoky and good. Seems locally distilled.
The Redneck Tacos was alone a 5/5 star experience but the Sampler didn’t quite hit the mark. The dry rub ribs were a little bland, but the sauced ribs had more flavour. The brisket was overall decent. One person in our party also ordered a cheeseburger and wasn’t impressed.
For the sides, we tried the fries, broccoli, salad, and beans—all were great but the beans were my favourite!
Overall, classic BBQ vibes all around! Everything came out really quickly too, which was great! The only thing I was bummed about was the banana pudding being a catering-only menu item!
Pulled pork shoulder sandwich with the house coleslaw. The potato salad was yummo. And while Dru the sandwich had amazing flavor. The runny sweet vinager bbq sauce was awesome.
PS I tried Martin’s through our thanksgiving lunch at work. We had gotten catering from them and thought it would be perfect for our personal thanksgiving
We each ordered the brisket, ribs dry and sauced.
Sides: Mac n cheese, baked beans, potato salad, hush puppies and the corn bread.
The brisket was amazing! Pull apart, juicy, melt in your mouth. The meals come with 2 sides of white Texas toast.
The inside was nice and clean, staff were super nice and gave some menu recommendations. There’s a bar area and a massive dining area. Each table comes with loads of paper towel and Martins Jack Creek bbq sauce.
I would 100% recommend!
On the side, the mac and cheese was creamy and indulgent, with just the right amount of cheesy pull, and the green beans were tender and lightly seasoned—a simple yet delightful complement to the smoky meats. To wash it all down, I treated myself to their blueberry lemonade cocktail, which struck a perfect balance of sweet and tart, served cold over plenty of ice.
My wife opted for the sliced brisket, and let me tell you, those thin, melt-in-your-mouth slices were some of the best we’ve ever had. Her mac and cheese and green beans were just as stellar as mine, and her bloody mary had a real kick—spicy enough to clear your sinuses but so full of flavor that she couldn’t stop sipping it.
Between the outstanding food, the warm hospitality, and the laid‑back Nashville charm, Martin’s BBQ has earned a permanent spot on our must‑visit list. If you’re in Midtown and craving authentic, mouthwatering barbecue with great sides and inventive drinks, do yourself a favor and head straight to Martin’s—you won’t be disappointed!
