West Tennessee’s legendary whole-hog BBQ tradition is the cornerstone of Martin’s Bar-B-Que Joint. Pat Martin learned the art and craft of West Tennessee-style smoke and meat 25 years ago in the tiny town of Henderson, TN before making Nashville his home. It became a consuming passion that eventually led to a business when he opened the first Martin’s Bar-B-Que Joint in October of 2006 in Nolensville, Tennessee – just south of Nashville. We come in at 5 am, every day, seven days a week. From the sides to the sauces, everything is made from scratch every single day – You’ll never find a freezer or microwave in our kitchens. But the bar-b-que actually starts a day ahead, as the process for smoking whole hogs simply can’t be rushed.

Martins BBQ is very good however this location is not good. Check out another location! I visited here a couple months ago a day after my wedding. My husband had hair in his food and I ordered the brisket sandwich. This is what I got. When I questioned the size of the brisket (literally the size of a quarter) the person at the register said “yep that’s the size” with a smile on his face. One of the kitchen staff walking by seen the size and offered to remake it. This is not the size of the brisket by the way other locations do not do this, this is just poor service.

Great spot for some beers and brisket. Their ribs seem to be popular and they run out quick but the brisket I had was great to taste. The special BBQ sauce our server brought out to us was amazing.
We also got a shot of the Belle Meade whiskey and that was smoky and good. Seems locally distilled.

This portion is perfect for small appetites. This is called “The Kid Brother Sampler”. The brisket is incredibly tender and moist. It literally falls apart when you puck it up. I regrettably chose white meat for my chicken which was a tad bit dry but full of flavor. This place also has different hand made bbq sauces including a vinegar one which I never knew existed in bbq sauces. Make sure to try their different versions. Mac and cheese was very creamy and good. I definitely recommend this place. Plenty of seating as blues music plays. They have a patio and bar as well. Thank you Martins BBQ for the great experience!

I ordered the Big Brother Sampler and the Redneck Tacos, and the tacos stole the show—the slaw on the pulled pork added the perfect crunch, and the cornbread hoe cake was surprisingly good (I usually side-eye cornbread, but this one completely won me over)!

The Redneck Tacos was alone a 5/5 star experience but the Sampler didn’t quite hit the mark. The dry rub ribs were a little bland, but the sauced ribs had more flavour. The brisket was overall decent. One person in our party also ordered a cheeseburger and wasn’t impressed.

For the sides, we tried the fries, broccoli, salad, and beans—all were great but the beans were my favourite!

Overall, classic BBQ vibes all around! Everything came out really quickly too, which was great! The only thing I was bummed about was the banana pudding being a catering-only menu item!

Clean dinning area, was nice and busy, but not loud.
Pulled pork shoulder sandwich with the house coleslaw. The potato salad was yummo. And while Dru the sandwich had amazing flavor. The runny sweet vinager bbq sauce was awesome.

Lots of seating, live music, order at counter and food arrived within 5 minutes. Got pulled pork nachos and a pulled pork tray with mac and cheese and green beand as sides. Everything was delicious!!! We arrived at 4:30 and left by 5. It was quick but no rush. It started getting busier around then on.a Saturday. Close to our hotel at Hilton Home 2. Definitely check it out!!

Ordered the Sliced Smoke Turkey Small Gathering for thanksgiving because I did not want to cook lol. The package came with 2.5 lbs sliced smoked turkey, quart mashed potatoes, quart sweet potato casserole, green beans, broccoli salad, a whole fudge pie and 10 rolls. Aside from that, we ordered half a gallon of Mac and cheese, 1 lb of smoked sliced ham, 2 extra lbs of sliced smoked turkey and 24 deviled eggs. All of this came up to about $350 including tax. This was definitely more than enough for us (4 people). Could have easily fed 8 people! Every single dish was so good and would not change anything. We were worried the meats would be tough and dry since they had to be in the fridge for two days before we reheated them on thanksgiving day but it’s still so tender and flavorful. This might just be a new thanksgiving tradition for us. Less stress and more time to mingle and have fun. Definitely recommend.

PS I tried Martin’s through our thanksgiving lunch at work. We had gotten catering from them and thought it would be perfect for our personal thanksgiving

Decided to try this place after a few recommends from friends. Did not disappoint!

We each ordered the brisket, ribs dry and sauced.
Sides: Mac n cheese, baked beans, potato salad, hush puppies and the corn bread.

The brisket was amazing! Pull apart, juicy, melt in your mouth. The meals come with 2 sides of white Texas toast.

The inside was nice and clean, staff were super nice and gave some menu recommendations. There’s a bar area and a massive dining area. Each table comes with loads of paper towel and Martins Jack Creek bbq sauce.

I would 100% recommend!

I can’t say enough good things about Martin’s BBQ in Midtown Nashville! From the moment we walked in, the cozy atmosphere and friendly staff set the tone for an exceptional meal. I ordered the half slab of ribs—and yes, I went half dry rub, half wet—and they were absolute perfection. The dry rub ribs had that ideal blend of spices, giving each bite a satisfying crust, while the wet ribs were succulent and bathed in a rich, tangy sauce that made my taste buds dance.

On the side, the mac and cheese was creamy and indulgent, with just the right amount of cheesy pull, and the green beans were tender and lightly seasoned—a simple yet delightful complement to the smoky meats. To wash it all down, I treated myself to their blueberry lemonade cocktail, which struck a perfect balance of sweet and tart, served cold over plenty of ice.

My wife opted for the sliced brisket, and let me tell you, those thin, melt-in-your-mouth slices were some of the best we’ve ever had. Her mac and cheese and green beans were just as stellar as mine, and her bloody mary had a real kick—spicy enough to clear your sinuses but so full of flavor that she couldn’t stop sipping it.

Between the outstanding food, the warm hospitality, and the laid‑back Nashville charm, Martin’s BBQ has earned a permanent spot on our must‑visit list. If you’re in Midtown and craving authentic, mouthwatering barbecue with great sides and inventive drinks, do yourself a favor and head straight to Martin’s—you won’t be disappointed!
