Kon Tiki: A Dining Review – Things To Do in Tuscon AZ

So I was looking forward to reliving that story by dining at Tucson’s Kon Tiki restaurant. Anyway, this is what Sally wrote to us about her Kon Tiki experience.

Kon Tiki is a Polynesian escape, unlike any I’ve ever experienced. The intricate tiki carvings, the low light ambiance, and the overall feeling of island relaxation made me feel is if I had walked through a transportation portal. I immediately loved the space, and as soon as I saw the menu (both food and drink) I knew I had found hidden gem. The drinks here are so good that it’s impossible to only have one, so make sure you Uber, because you will be ordering multiple island inspired beverages filled with heavy pours of delicious rum. The food menu will challenge your ordering abilities because everything sounds so good, but trust me, no matter what you order, you will be happy. This chef is legit! With Louie as my guide, I ordered Santa’s seafood bisque, the blackened mahi mahi, and Prancer’s pumpkin crème brûlée. Each course was artfully prepared, expertly plated, and packed full of island flavor that excited every tastebud. If you are looking for a speakeasy style vibe for dinner with the laid back culture of the Polynesians, this is THE spot.

This was a shocking surprise of a restaurant that we are soooo glad to have been referred to. It’s a hidden gem in Tucson!!! The atmosphere pulls you from the desert climate of AZ to a tropical Hawaiian getaway. The whole family loved the ambiance of the Tiki decor and overall mood of the joint. The kids said it was there favorite place of the day and we all wish this place was closer to the valley to enjoy more often. The food was delightfully fresh and clean, with the best presentation. Amazing sauces all made from scratch, drizzled over each of our dishes to top them off with perfection. If in Tuscon again we will be sure to make a stop over to Kon Tiki again. The waiter/bar trader was very kind and always made sure we were attended to.

Super neat teeming. Fountain, tiki, glass floats, coconuts! Food was surprisingly good too…tried multiple things and enjoyed the sauces especially. The coconut shrimp were our favorites but the beef wraps were great as well. Lovely BBQ chicken skewers. Lighting is nice and romantic, wasnt loud early in the evening. And ofc they make great tiki drinks. Very friendly staff too

Off we go to try something new to eat. The search result came back with thus Hawaiian themed spot that we enjoyed very much. Our host was accommodating in finding us a seat that we were comfortable with. Our waiter was knowledgeable and friendly, so kudos there. Food was delicious indeed. The menu has a excellent mix of options to select from. Pricing was reasonable, and especially in this economy, thats saying something. Not difficult to find as these days just follow the gps and right off the main road w/ several stores w/in walking distance. Depending on the time, parking can be a bit challenging. My only complaint would be the super cramped restrooms .
Other than that, still earned my 5stars.
I did overhear some customers saying they used to have water flowing outside, which would have been cool to see. Again, worth the trip.

This is our second time coming here. Both times were simply amazing, the 1st over a weekend which was very busy, but well managed. The 2nd time was with our biking group. The atmosphere takes you back, so much fun. The food is fantastic and the biking group want to go back. Anna our server was very friendly and did a great job. Once we open Pima County on our travel web site, this will be one of our favorite recommendations. You can’t go wrong here. Update: Came for 3rd time now it was Taco Tuesday! Awesome!

I’m an organizer with the 30’s, 40’s and 50’s Social Group on gatherist.org and this is BY FAR our group’s favorite place to go out. The drinks are beautifully presented with lots of variety. The atmosphere is second to none. We have held gatherings with 30 or 40 people and their space on the side easily accommodates us with extra tables remaining. They happily split checks for the group.
