I’ve been going to Mama Maria for several years and have always had great experiences with both the food and the service.
However, last night I had a poor service experience. I placed a phone order around 9:00 PM and was told the food would be ready in 10–15 minutes. Online, your hours indicated you close at 10:00 PM, so I planned to arrive around 9:30 PM.
At 9:20 PM, I received a call saying I had to come pick up the food within 5 minutes because the store was already closed. I explained I would be there in about 10 minutes, but the person insisted I come immediately or I wouldn’t receive my food, and then hung up.
I ended up calling back, canceling the order, and taking my business elsewhere. I didn’t appreciate being pressured to rush to the place when I had placed the order in good faith based on your posted hours and the pickup estimate I was given. If the store closes earlier than what’s listed online, that should be reflected accurately, or at least communicated at the time of ordering.
Additionally, this was the first night of Ramadan, and Mama Maria is known as one of the more reputable halal restaurants in the Des Plaines area. I would have appreciated a bit more understanding and courtesy given the context.
I hope this feedback helps improve the experience for future customers. I’ll take this experience into consideration before ordering again.

I recently tried two of the special pizzas at Maria’s Pizza, and both were delicious! The flavors were well-balanced, with fresh ingredients and a perfectly crisp crust. Each pizza had its own unique twist that made it stand out. Overall, great taste and quality for a very reasonable price — definitely worth a visit!

On December 31, 2024, I purchased 3 large pizzas, 30 wings, and 32-piece garlic bread from this restaurant , des plaines area, around 4 pm, which we consumed around 6 pm. We had a small gathering at my house and only ate the food provided by the restaurant. Although they usually serve delicious halal food, I suspect that this time the food was stale. Approximately 8 hours after eating, my family started vomiting at midnight. Since we only have one meal a day(because of fasting), it’s unlikely that we got sick from something else. This was a terrible experience.
Unfortunately I only took picture of garlic bread n wings.
The 3 pizza I ordered were
1. Chicken
2. Pepperoni
3. Halal bacon (this is new flavour added in restaurant)
Wings flavour was
20 piece mango habenero
10 piece garlic parmesan
Also I still feel very sick even after vomiting.

I tried to call them and inform about the quality of food. I guess If I am not wrong order guy call samad name to talk with me and he said no order wasn’t over cooked and it was fine however I didn’t asked for redo order or money back etc but that guy was so rude and when I asked to send him pics he said put review and pics. So here you go sir I told I dont want to reclaim order but you really don’t know how to deal with customer. Mexican guys and other lady dealt better then you. They served good food but if your regular customer call you to inform about quality of food you should have to accept it rather being rude on call.

Excellent food. We went at 10:45pm and gave a large order but they weren’t snippy rather they were like, “No it’s okay. Order what’s you want”. They were helpful to pick from the menu as this was our first trip. Food was just downright delicious. We sat outside on the curb to eat our food. They brought us napkins and even taught us some Spanish. Will definitely stop every time I come to Chicago.
The price has jumped 50% and in some cases 100% but the food is still delicious and the guys were very friendly.

The pizza here is so delicious — the toppings and cheese are amazing. For me, it’s perfect in both taste and toppings, but if the size were a bit bigger, it would be even better. Everything else is just perfect! ✨

Such a lovely local restaurant, the staff is so accommodating and helpful, especially if you’re indecisive or it’s your first time there. The place is a little small but I usually take it to go, If you’re in the area, it’s something you need to try!

The food here is genuinely great fresh, flavorful, and worth coming back for. I’ve enjoyed every dish I’ve tried. However, the person who usually takes the order Sahal really needs to work on his attitude. He often make unpleasant or unfriendly faces, which makes the experience uncomfortable. It’s disappointing because the food deserves five stars, but the customer service brings the rating down. On top of that, my recent order was completely forgotten .I had to remind him after waiting for a long time .A little courtesy and a smile would make a big difference.
