Overall, enjoyed the food and ambience here. It’s an open concept kitchen, which is always fun to watch and in my opinion, enhances the experience. The roasted artichoke was hands-down my favorite thing we ordered. The verte salad was also really yummy, the added crunch from the breadcrumbs was nice and the dressing was fresh and flavorful. We also ordered the aglio & olio pasta which was yummy and the bucatini was cooked really well. The seabass was unique thanks to the addition of bacon and we enjoyed it. The reason I took a star off is because the chicken didn’t taste fresh. You could tell that it was prepped much earlier in the day because it had that sort of stale taste. Otherwise, the side of panzanella salad was delicious.

We enjoyed our dinner at Margot. We grabbed a late reservation on a Saturday and were happily seated before the time on a busy evening. Really liked the salad verte. It was very large and had a really nice dressing on it. I did questioned the peas on it. We ordered it because of the peas and it being summer, but when it turned out they were cooked peas and may have been frozen peas which seemed incongruent with the rest of the very fresh salad. Another thing that I asked the waiter about was a little bit of grittiness that turned out to be bread crumbs. I would have preferred them to be noted and larger in size. But we made all gone with the salad.
The tomato salad was also very good! I love a bit of purslane.
We enjoy the artichokes with salsa verde.
With both the tomato salad and the artichokes that would have been good to have some bread.
Bread is offered on the menu in conjunction with prosciutto for $22.00. We didn’t ask about getting just bread and that may be our bad.
We also ordered the french fries which turned out not to be quite french fries but more like potato sticks. They were a trip down memory lane but not quite what I would describe as french fries.
The Zuni style Chicken itself was tasty and a good size portion With a nice panzanella salad.
The salmon was fine. There were more of those peas in the otherwise unflavored couscous.
The dessert offerings were not compelling enough but we did enjoy our dinner.
When we look back at the photos on Google it seemed like certain dishes like the pasta or more interesting in the past. That’s why we didn’t order any pasta. The descriptions seemed kind of plain for the price.

We miss the old diner but glad it’s open again for American comfort food. We had the beets and artichokes to start that were both simply done but delicious. The limone pasta was the least liked plate. Branzino with beans and steak were also tasty. Their version of Zuni cafe’s chicken was also flavorful. (I ate that chicken at least 1x/month with oysters and a Bloody Mary in SF!) Ultra thin shoestring fries were a hit. If you want bread, ask them for it plain. The toasted one was greasy with oil. Pleasant comforting winter meal. And you get $50 off for $150 on the inKind app if it’s the first time using it.

We’ve been wanting to try Margot but tonight was a perfect surprise – couldn’t get into a restaurant nearby, got lucky with Margot. Food was delicious and the wine was so refreshing and lovely. Service was great, too. The focaccia was amazing and the spring vegetables were over the top. Must try. Glad that our neighborhood has one more lovely new spot. Can’t wait to come back again.

My friends and I had a celebratory birthday dinner at Margot and it was exceptional. The staff were so warm and welcoming, they didn’t rush us along, and they truly cared about our experience. The food and drinks were perfection. What a gem Margot is.

Unfortunately this was a miss for us (2.75/5 stars). Each of the dishes we got were mediocre at best and none of it made a lasting impression on us, which was such a bummer.
The steak tartar was decent but didn’t come with enough sauce and wasn’t served with any bread or cracker to provide a nice texture contrast, so it’s like eating a spoonful of flavorless raw beef without the sauce, so if you don’t mind it then you’ll probably enjoy the dish more. The smoked speck was also decent and quite flavorful, but would prefer the presentation to make it easier to grab each piece, for since it’s on top of one another, each time we grabbed a piece, all the toppings would fall off. The radish and butter was very plain and didn’t hit the spot for me, for the butter was too light in flavor to make a dent onto the rawness of the radish. The focaccia ricotta with hot honey was also quite bland in regard to the honey, and you would need to dunk it in a lot of ricotta to bring out its flavors. The Rigatoni alla Gricia was also light in flavor and without eating it with the accompanying meat resulted in no flavor at all unfortunately. Koji brined half chicken was overpriced for what it was worth, and didn’t have much flavor as well, so it felt like eating a simple roasted chicken dish. The roast duck was a bit gamey but had a nice proportion of fat to balance it out. The red cabbage that accompanied it didn’t enhance the dish much so you really just focus on the duck by itself.
Overall, the price is quite high and the quality just wasn’t on par with its price point. The area we sat at was close to the kitchen and since so many staff goes in and out, sometimes staff flings their hand and water would get on us. They didn’t seem aware of it but the staff were all very friendly, so we didn’t wanna make a big deal out of it, but just fyi to those who may be sitting near the kitchen area! One other downside is they forgot our drink near the end of our meal perhaps because they were busy and overworked. I think Margot has good potential, for I know their menu changes regularly, so I hope this review can help guide them to change and grow into something even more amazing. Unfortunately this time it was a miss for us, but I do hope to see them continue to grow and improve, by adjusting the flavor profile of their dishes and attributing a more congruent price to its quality, especially for their entrees!
Thank you for reading and best of luck! (:

Nice atmosphere. Helpful and prompt service. Prices are very high for the quality of dishes you may order. To make matters worse, they tack on an additional 3% fee for the kitchen. Just pay your staff or raise the prices. No intentions of returning.

Absolutely love this place. The food is delicious, everything is an imaginative combination of ingredients and flavors beautifully prepared. But not clever or pretentious like so many fine dining places. Which is also reflected in the decor and ambience of this place. It’s welcoming, relaxed and just a delight all around! The only slight nit I have is the chicken wasn’t special for all it’s description. Will focus on smaller plates next time and skip the entrees

3 at best, the bathrooms themselves are 1/5. Service was nice and everyone was extremely pleasant and helpful. Would return again just because of that. The food fell short of our expectations, was under the impression from the pricing that they would deliver. The skirt steak (w/ herbs and roasted garlic) was served almost cold, lacked flavor, and for $38 was just disappointing. I am not a joyless whiny baby I promise, it was just bad. The Brussels Sprouts and scallops were probably the most satisfying items we consumed. The spaghetti with clams was forgettable.
Drinks – 5/5. Knowing what I know now I will wait until they fix the death trap bathrooms and come back for drinks.

We had a wonderful evening at Margot. The cuisine is quite unique for New York, very fine and special with unique tastes, making it a surprising and enjoyable experience.
They have a great wine assortment and reasonably priced.
I loved the decor and the service was so nice. The only comment I have is about the size of the portion, they were fine for me but more on the smaller size for bigger eaters, so make sur to order enough!
Congratulation to the whole team behind Margot and thank you for the special evening !
