Great little place!! Looked up the best fries in Idaho and this little place was one of the contenders. I got a roast beef Swiss with tots and the hubby got a burger with fries. Both were really good, I’m not sure if they were the best fries, but they were more battered than a typical fry. The tots were amazing, love a good tot. If you’re in the area, definitely stop by. The waitress was so sweet, the menu is good and the area is full of history.

If in Shoshone, Idaho in need of food, please go to the Manhattan Cafe. Very clean, good food, and excellent service with a charming historic atmosphere.

We attended on a Saturday night after exploring parts of the Craters of the Moon National Monument. We were returning to Meridian. The entryway is nostalgic with big picture windows. The entire place was shiny and spotless. The walls decorated with historic photos of the town and railway era photos.

My traveling partner and I each had cheeseburgers and with fries for one of us and onion rings for the other but both shared. The food was generous, served hot with very fresh, tasty vegetables. Everything was excellent.

The service sad impeccable. We were checked on frequently with sincerity and warmth.

In the end I couldn’t resist warm pecan pie with ice cream.

Very clean, warm charming atmosphere, good food, heartfelt service. Please eat here if in the area and hungry.

First time to eat at the Manhattan Cafe in Shoshone. We tried homemade chicken noodle soup, turkey sandwich on wheat bread, and a cherry malt. All of the food was amazing and it tasted so wonderful. Nice day with a great meal.

Oldest operating restaurant in Idaho. Extensive menu. Our group of six opted for burgers and cheese sandwiches and taco soup which turned out to be a version of chilli. Burgers were cooked to well done after we asked for medium rare but were tasty nonetheless. We had fun at the table researching the railroad history of Shoshone, the big boy engines one of which is featured on the wall. Get the fries. They’re very good.

Awesome little restaurant! I’ve tried it twice so far and it’s been amazing both times! Sorry I didn’t get any pictures of the food, but I was so hungry!! Lol… I had the breakfast chicken fried steak and it was the best I’ve had at a restaurant so far! They make the gravy from scratch! I highly recommend this lovely little place!

I loved stopping here. Such a classic place. My wife and I had similar breakfasts – biscuits and gravy and chicken fried steak. The eggs and hash browns were good. Everything else was not very. I’m being generous with 3 stars. The CF steak was old and maybe freezer burned. The sausage gravy was not house made. Biscuits. Meh. The strawberry rhubarb pie was good. I’d stop again but I’d ask more questions when I ordered.

We ordered our food, didn’t get straws, food was cold, salad dressing was warm, our drinks went empty and weren’t refilled. We waited almost 30 minutes for our check Once we got our check we went up front and waited 20 minutes to be rung up. After eating we didn’t feel satisfied and quickly began to feel ill. I do not recommend this

The food was good was great. The server was attentive. They seemed extremely short staffed. But this girl was doing her best to keep up. But something really cool happened the night my daughter and I were there. A couple down the bar from us paid for our meals! I love random acts of kindness. So I paid it forward. I watched an officer walk in and head to the other room. I asked my server if he had ordered. She informed me there were 4 officer’s back there and they had ordered. I paid for their meals. As I’m headed out, the officer comes up to the front and informs the server they had a call but they would be back. I just felt awesome to know that when these officers made it back they wouldn’t have a bill to worry about. That they could focus on their job and have a hot meal waiting for them when they were done. These are the kind of things that make small town diners and restaurants special. I will be back and hope to have another experience like this!
