Restaurant was clean looking, staff was really nice. Food was not good. My food came with pickled veggies, there was no flavor there. I really wished they offered hot sauce. Taziki sauce was not good. Been before about a year ago it was good then… Not sure what changed

I’ve been meaning to try this spot in Manhattan for a while & it just so happened that we were driving towards Mamoun’s Falafel in East Rutherford ! The staff is friendly and helpful. The food is relatively cheap and decent – a gyro for 7$ ?? that is unheard of !! I wish there was more sauce but thats a personal preference !

I visited this restaurant for the first time and was excited to try a variety of items. Overall, the experience was decent, though I felt some dishes could have been prepared a little better.

We ordered falafel, grape leaves, and a shawarma sandwich. The falafel had a nice crunchy exterior, but I noticed that inside it wasn’t fully cooked in some portions, which took away from the overall taste. On the other hand, the grape leaves were quite enjoyable – flavorful and well-balanced, definitely one of the highlights of the meal.

The shawarma sandwich was a bit different from what I’m usually used to. Typically, I expect the wrap to be lightly toasted or grilled, which gives that authentic “shawarma” feel. Here, the wrap wasn’t warmed, so I missed that familiar texture and flavor. However, I will say that the lamb itself, along with the sauce and filling inside, tasted good and satisfying.

Service was smooth, and the place has potential, but personally, I might look for a more authentic Mediterranean spot next time. Still, this could be a good option if you’re in the area and want to try something different.

I had a terrible experience picking up an order here today. I arrived at 11:45 AM to pick up two lunch specials, which should normally be quick to prepare. By 12:15 PM, the order still hadn’t come out.
What made the situation worse is that the restaurant was completely empty. There were no customers waiting, yet the staff made no effort to speed things up. Instead, the employees were just standing around talking between the kitchen and the counter, acting like there was no urgency at all.
Waiting 30 minutes for two lunch specials in an empty restaurant is unacceptable. This shows a serious lack of organization and respect for customers’ time. Very disappointing experience, and based on this visit, I would not recommend this place if you value your time.

I have been to this location in the past and it was way better than today. Unfortunately, the falafel were fried in an overused oil, as a middle eastern I can know the difference between a fresh falafel and old ones. Hopefully the management comes and check the oil, we love Mamoun’s falafel and we love to see the consistency in healthy food.

having to wait 22 minutes for a soup and salad with one cube of feta cheese says it all about this downhill place – not even close to what it used to be. maybe it’s the staff or the management, but Ibby would not be proud.
