Food was terrific. Waitress was all alone and did a superb job taking all the orders and being very pleasant. Rice balls were A1. Veal was tender. Pasta could be more Al dente (i.e., less cooked). Best Italian restaurant in Gettysburg. One request: please make rigatoni carbonara authentic way with egg yolks, cheese, and pasta water. No oil or cream

i’m a minor and this was absolutely terrible. the decorum is saddening and it took at so long to actually get food and when we received our food ( i got chicken parm ) it was upsetting to think that this place has such high prices , i took a bite and it was rubbery and plain – the sauce was leaking at the bottom , getting soggy. i don’t know just a point of reference this place doesn’t put love into their food whatsoever.

My wife and I attended a reserved dinner here. When I say it was AMAZING. The wine selection was to our liking. Then came the 5 course meal and every course had us smiling and saying mhhmmm. She made is heart shaped ravioli and I thought that was amazing in itself but then I ate one and realized it was even better. The setting was beautiful and the cake she made for us was not only beautiful but tasty. And our server Christina did not miss. She served us on time and never allowed more than maybe 2 min for our next course after we finished. We left full and feeling great. Thank you to Mama V’s they were amazing. Oh and to her mom whom helped as well. Family oriented as well. So if you are ever in Gettysburg be sure to stop and have a meal at Mama Ventura’s Restaurant & Lounge.

The good – our waitress was pleasant and tried to be helpful. Otherwise, what began as a wonderful family experience quickly became a major disappointment. Four of our 9 meals ordered were not edible, my son felt ill after two tastes of his fish, 3 bad meals were fish, seemed like a bad batch. We were asked if we wanted a replacement but when food is so unappetizing you don’t feel like trying anything else at the time. Neither the manager or the chef came to talk with us; this is always the right thing to do when food is not good. Several of us have tried reaching the manager personally rather than posting a public negative review. I have sent two direct email messages also to avoid posting this review. No replies were received. All efforts have been ignored, my son was hung up on. We were just hoping to have an honest conversation and have something done to make amends. We can only assume that bad reviews do not matter to MaMa Ventura’s as it is a well established restaurant with enough good reviews to allow them to not care about disappointing customers. Were they new, the outcome would have been different. On top of being ignored, I was still charged far far too much for the substandard meals that were eaten. The large bill included a $25 tip, which, as I was close to tears, I nearly missed. They not only built that tip into the bill, but they print an additional line at the bottom asking for a tip. I imagine many people give two tips as it is easy to be fooled with this unfair system. Something is very wrong when a business doesn’t care about its main purpose, in this case – to create delicious meals and wonderful memories for its customers. Mr. or Mrs. Manager, I am very sorry that we did not get an opportunity to speak to you in person that night. And I’m very sorry that you have ignored our repeated efforts to reach you.

DO NOT EAT HERE! Worst restaurant I’ve ever experienced! I’ve never seen one person after another take a bite of food and then, with a disgusted look on their face spit it out. My son spit out the Chicken Parmesan saying it tasted like rubber. My husband ordered the crab stuffed flounder, took one bite, and just looked at me and said, “I can’t eat this. There’s something wrong with it.” Then my brother and mom, who had also ordered flounder, one stuffed with crab, were also repulsed after taking a bite. My mom actually gave it a few bites. I think she was in disbelief that there could be this many inedible plates served. I’ve never left a bad review for a restaurant before, but I don’t want anyone else to experience this.

I’m a tourist and Mamma Ventura Restaurant is the place that take us. The most famous restaurant didn’t want to take us because it was too much customer or they didn’t have a worker i do not know.

You ever get that gut feeling when you walk in a place that you should just turn around… Didn’t listen to it, sadly. There were 9 of us who were sat down in what appeared to be a hallway which was uncomfortably tight. We ordered and sent 4 of the 9 meals back immediately, which were absolutely disgusting. 3 were fish (flounder & crab stuffed flounder) which simply put, was old or expired. Even the waitress, Mandy, said she was worried about the one serving without the sauce being bad (after the fact). The chicken ordered by my nephew was spit out after chewing one bite said it was like eating rubber. The other people in our party stomached the food but couldn’t finish any of it after smelling and seeing the meals sent back. Anyway they asked us if we wanted to order something else but our stomachs were completely turned. The waitress was in tears but not the owner, chef, or manager came to apologize. My elderly mother (80 years old) was treating and when the bill came for over $150 with 20% gratuity already added in we were astonished. She paid it because she felt so bad about the dinner, and didn’t want to make a scene. Since then she has emailed several times with no response just wanting an apology for ruining what was supposed to be a special evening but has been completely ignored. It’s hard to imagine how bad this was and even more so, nobody cared to make it right.

We were in Gettysburg for a lacrosse game and wanted to get dinner. We stumbled across this restaurant. The people were very friendly and there appeared to be many regular customers. There’s a large menu with everything from pasta dishes to pizza. My husband had the lasagna which was served with a small salad and fresh bread. I had a cheese calzone. They have Coke products. Only downside was the parking. It’s on the street and it’s 10 minutes for a quarter which seems crazy. Otherwise we had a great dinner.
