The buy one get one 50% off got me into the door. The smell as soon as you enter tells you it’s authentic. The communal table, the display, lighting, other items neatly displayed and labeled place of origin adds to the ambiance. They also have drinks that is not usually offered in a Japanese joint. Downside- no public restroom

I absolutely love Maki Cafe by Columbia University! My favorite is definitely the matcha latte—it’s soooooo good! I appreciate their commitment to quality, especially their collaboration with Nippon Cha, known as the best matcha company in the market. It truly shows in their premium matcha drinks, which are absolutely delicious!
I also highly recommend the Gyudon; it’s incredibly tasty. I could eat here every day! I can’t wait to come back and try more items from the menu!

I really thought all sushi outside of Japan tasted the same but today I stand corrected; this place is incredible. I’ve never had such good sushi from a fridge before! I will definitely go back and try the hot food next time. 5 stars for every single thing ordered : eel avocado rolls, sushi deluxe and strawberry matcha milk. Its no wonder this place is always full of people, I’m glad this neighborhood is getting a nice Japanese joint. The few dollars extra is translating into exceptional quality.

I got the sake ikura don and it was so good! It came with a soy sauce that was house made, super fresh wasabi and fish too with great portions, especially because I wasn’t even expecting the bowl to come with miso soup on the side. definitely coming back to try the other bowls and the matcha!
