Unassuming delight. From the outside on a cool winter day, I wasn’t too sure. My wife had booked this place as we were visiting Cirque du Soleil nearby.

As soon as I stepped inside, any hesitation disappeared. Warm and welcoming, the restaurant has a lovely atmosphere. I’d strongly recommend making a reservation — we saw several unfortunate couples turned away as the restaurant was full.

The food was delicious (I ate too fast and forgot to take photos). We started with the fish sharing board, which was excellent. I had the Chicken Supreme and it was outstanding — my only complaint is that I had no room left for dessert. We also ordered the duck and a spaghetti Bolognese for our child, all of which were thoroughly enjoyed.

It was my wife’s birthday, and despite not having organised anything in advance, the restaurant and their friendly staff went out of their way to help celebrate with a small cake and a song.

Thank you for a genuinely lovely experience

We spent a delightful August evening here with a large group. Our meals were delicious, the view on the deck was wonderful, we had amazing service. Reservations recommended..

It was a treat to visit this historic establishment even though it was a rainy, gray day on February and I had walked from the train station to the restaurant. I was very glad to get there and sit down and order a nice glass of Chenin Blanc. I had the onion soup and mushroom risotto. Both were very tasty. If I ever have the chance to get back here again, I hope it’s on a beautiful summer day, more reminiscent of Renoir’s time spent there.

Very nice restaurant in Chatou. It has a beautiful view over the river and the restaurant is a patrimonial building with old drawings on the walls. The food was very delicious specially the ombrine fish . They have a list of allergens. The wine was excellent as well as the service. I recommend on hot summer days. Plenty of parking spaces nearby.

Nice view on the river, feels like in the country side. Service was very slow, it took us some 35 minutes just to order drinks. Average food, cannot say it was bad but nothing special.

Lovely and historic building with a great view. The terrace is the location from a Renoir painting. Delicious food and excellent, friendly service. Thanks to our server for being patient with me practicing French!

We asked for water and after 10min it still did not come so we called another waiter and he asked if we had ordered it, we said yes and he went and got it. The person who took the order was busy clearing tables where people had left so she must have forgot to get us the water. It was 30C and very hot. The 1st course was a piece of terrine and it was very hard and dry. Came with no sauce and felt like it had been taken from the back of the fridge. The glass of champagne was not chilled, temperature was slightly cool. Main courses were mostly beef which was cooked correctly but the steak knives were blunt so not easy to cut the meat. It was our wedding anniversary dinner and I had been looking forward to the food, ambiance and service. We drove from Switzerland so it was a planned event. The wait staff are young and not focused on customer service. This next generation need a lot more oversight on what service means in restaurants that are marketed as good locations. Also the seating is a mix of small wooden garden chairs that curve inwards and press into your legs, very uncomfortable and more modern chairs that have no sides so easier to sit on. Very disappointed overall.

An experience of a lifetime. Le Dejeuner des Canotiers has been our favourite Renoir painting for many, many years. Before we left North America, I arranged with the staff for us to be seated at The Table- the one in the foreground of the painting at which Aline Charigot is seated with her little dog, surrounded by the others- Gustave Caillebotte, Paul Lhote, Ellen André, Jeanne Samary, Alphonse fils and Alphonsine Fournaise, et al. On arrival we were indeed seated there and proceeded to have the best lunch ever. Food, atmosphere, and service were impeccable. At the end of the meal, I proposed to my girlfriend, and she accepted. I will never forget the kindness displayed to us by the wonderful staff.
BTW you DO have to really want to eat here, as from Montmartre it’s metro, then RER train, then about a 20-minute walk. BUT worth every second.

Tucked away along the scenic banks of the Seine in Chatou, Maison Fournaise is a hidden gem that beautifully captures the essence of French cuisine and history. Originally a popular spot for Impressionist painters, this charming restaurant offers not only a meal but an experience steeped in artistic heritage.

The menu is a delightful showcase of classic French dishes, each prepared with a modern flair.
