Beyond farm to table, the James Ranch Grill is table on the farm by sourcing its main regenerative ingredients from the James Ranch itself. Our cattle feed only on the green grass of our 400 acre ranch making our beef packed with flavor and our cheese golden and rich. Our chickens are pasture raised eating grass and grasshoppers resulting in egg yolks the color of a sunset. Our pigs forage on roots, grass, and legumes as well as are fed the whey from our cheese-making processes making our pork tender and flavorful. The regenerative vegetables that we don’t grow in our own gardens are sourced from local farms in the summer and regionally in the off-growing seasons, and always from farmers that we know that care for the land and use sust…

The views were breathtaking as well. Will definitely come back!
The market has cute local handmade goods. I was even able to get a dear friend some beautiful earrings made my a local artist.
They specialize in burgers and chili.
The Bison burger was really good.
The burger was one of the best I’ve had in a long time. I’d give that an easy 9/10. I wanted the Succulent steak sandwich, but that was sold out. Hopefully you have better luck. The salads were delicious and fresh. The fries were good, but I prefer a thicker steak fry personally. Small deal. They were still good and well seasoned.
Waits could be a little long for food, so be prepared if it’s anything like we experienced. Getting a float took longer than the food. Oh, they were also out of Root Beer so I settled for a cola float.
When you have been to Texas and Oklahoma (Beef Capital of USA) for Beef burgers then your expectations become very high for any place where they serve beef burgers.
So comparatively I would say that the burgers were okay.
But when you are hungry and your options are limited then it’s great.
So it was a good experience and good country side views.
On a side note: The pricing is very high, it was a Good experience.
They have goats that you can pet and they show you where they also make their raw milk cheese.
Next-door is a cute little market with lots of local things to pick up such as honey, lavender, produce, and lots of fresh meats.
This is not in downtown Durango, but only an eight or so minute drive. And they are dog friendly if you sit outside.
My husband and I shared:
– Mushroom Belford Burger
– Inside Out Melt with a Fried Egg, Bacon, Caramelized Onions
– ROC’n Fries
– Kale, Carrot, Apple Slaw
– Ice Cream Float – Mandarin Orange Tractor Soda
The burger is one of the best burgers I’ve ever had. The melt might have been my favorite thing with the crispy cheese on the outside. The float was delicious. I loved the sauces for the fries.
I personally wouldn’t get the slaw again because it was more of a kale salad which isn’t my thing.
I will come back here every time I visit Durango because this was hands down the best place we ate.
