Wonderful experience from start to finish – kind and warm service from our casual but well-informed bartender. The seafood sang here, and don’t skip the warm bread and butter. They have cocktails to kickoff before diving into the wine list, and the profiteroles were perfectly light and airy with a crisp.

I had an excellent experience and selection of cocktails at MBV.

I made a reservation for 2 at 9 PM on Saturday night, and a resi has been hard to come by for weeks. Rest assured, it’s worth it and limited due to the space within – it’s small and intimate which I prefer.

I had the “Am I the Drama” and am literally trying to call back to get the ingredients bc I want to replicate this at my home bar.

Drinks range from $18-24 however I found the pours leaning toward the generous side, cocktail orders receive a sidecart from any shaker-excess (something Idk why isn’t more common).

My friend ordered the house martini and it was excellent. No notes. Get your booty in a seat and go have one!

Lastly, the dessert. The Profiteroles have a special place in my heart/mind/body/soul. Mother of God, MBV did their big one with this dessert. I want to go with more friends just bc everyone should experience this dessert.

From front-to-BOH, I was amazed and impressed by MBV – you will see me back. It’s my pleasure to be writing this review.

Until next time!

Wonderful French restaurant with excellent ambiance. We started with the olives and bread. Don’t pass up the bread and butter! I enjoyed a delicious dish of pasta with grated truffles and a glass of wine. The bar was a great place to dine, as tables are at a minimum. Fun spot to watch the bartender make drinks all night!

Fantastic experience at Maison Bar à Vins. Patrick provided excellent service with spot-on wine recommendations (loved the Viura and Cab Franc). The brioche-stuffed chicken and eel croquettes were standout dishes. Cozy, welcoming atmosphere that feels like dining in someone’s home.

I also love the attention of details that go into the place. From the homey feelings of the place, the logo in the wine glasses and the bathroom sink! It just shows they went the extra mile in crafting the place. For now they only have first floor opens, they have plans for second floor as a dining space in the future and third floor for special events.

Highly recommend!

This was an amazing dinner. The dishes were creative and tasted amazing.
The chicken with brioche and Parmesan cheese was delicious. The desserts (especially the chocolate ganache) were heavenly. Will definitely be back.

Good food, great ambience and the bartenders were terrific. We were at the bar here on a Saturday night and the place was full but not packed. All the food options were good, especially the tuna Crudo and chicken breast. Special shout out to the two bartenders, Thomas and (I think) Chris!

Such a nice little venue for post dinner or before dinner drinks.

Here are is what we ordered after initial drinks – def get the gin martini – incredible bleu cheese olives and great selection of orange wine from Italy and France

1) lamb tartare, doesn’t taste gamey at all – incredible bread wish I had more
2) oysters – skip, absolutely disgusting
3) monk fish. Perfectly cooked, so buttery, crispy capers and croutons – best dish of the night
4) smoked eel croquette. Not bad not great excellent smoke
5) scallops – excellent Peruvian take
6) bread and butter – great French execution a can’t miss

Service was great and super attentive. Shout out to Ronnie for taking care of us.

Bathroom downstairs is gorgeous- Le Labo products to boot

Such an incredible addition to the DC dining scene. The hospitality provided by the Maison team was second to none.

Jason and Thomas offered friendly (and somewhat funny) service and were so knowledgeable about the dishes. The decor was gorgeous with the lighting being incredibly flattering and sexy. And of course, the food and wine was stellar. The mussels and fries and the Basque cheesecake will definitely be ordered again.

This place is exactly the kind of sophisticated, interesting, and elevated spot that the neighborhood needed. We will 100% return again for that martini, another glass of Cotes du Rhone, and mussels.

So tasty! Here are is what we ordered in the order of how much we liked the dish:
1) lamb tartare, doesn’t taste gamey at all. Fave tartare we had in a while (and we were in Montreal recently)
2) fig leaf choux bun, loved the pastry and the fig ice cream and coconut caramel was so delivious!
3) monk fish. Perfectly cooked, so buttery, crispy capers and croutons
4) smoked eel croquette. You could have told me this was smoked white fish and I would have believed you. Not especially special.
5) escargot – truffles and mushroom. TBH I didn’t love the scroll pastry, although it was beautiful. Tastes cheap and basic? Kind of like a deconstructed Trader Joe’s frozen appetizer. I dunno.

Service was great and super attentive. Even though we were there during their soft opening, their dining room was empty for most of our meal. It is a small space though.

I have gone to Maison for drinks a couple of times and have absolutely loved it. I’ve had fantastic service, even if I am standing, and have thoroughly enjoyed my experience. I was so excited to finally get a dinner reservation but was unfortunately disappointed with the service. Our waitress was nice, but starting 30 minutes into our reservation she told us we needed to order the rest of the food (we had ordered appetizers and cocktails) because she had a table coming in and needed to turn our table. Mind you, we had a reservation, which we were on time for. The environment in the back dining room is cozy and definitely invites you to take your time and savor the experience. But, we were told of our time limit twice more. It was neither in my reservation confirmation or reminder texts that I had to be out of there so quickly. I understand restaurants have reservations that they need to get to, but I did feel like it could have been handled better so we could have felt like we had time to enjoy our meal. It really just took away from the experience completely. Furthermore, after cocktails we ordered a bottle of wine, and the wine was taken away with a half a glass left in it. I told our waitress and she gave each of is a splash of the bottle they were using for glasses, but it just felt like it was evidence of them rushing us out. Lastly, a friend of mine was vegetarian and got their vegetarian option of the pasta, which was mushrooms instead of rabbit. It was great. However, they still charged the same amount and weren’t super helpful there either. Again, I love Maison for drinks but I was very disappointed in the service for dining.
