Many reviews raved about the margaritas. I ordered the house marg on the rocks for $13.50. I really did not enjoy it and had a hard time finishing it, and I love Marg’s! Not sure what was added to create the shade of neon green (picture did not capture the color) Carne Asada was ok, not the best I’ve had but not bad. For $24, I wouldn’t get it again. With so many dishes in the restaurant being served on sizzling skillets, it became very smoky inside. Eventually a member of the staff propped a door open to help clear it out.

I ordered the steak mexicano, it was like eating tubed tomato paste, and there were no mushrooms like it said it would have. Rice had no flavor either. My daughters pork carnitas with Verde sauce had to Verde sauce, just big chunks of pork in a bowl. Very disappointing. The only high light was warm chips and a tasty salsa.

We sampled three different margaritas and enjoyed them all. They have a creative drink menu so we’ll be back to try the others! Food was good and tasted fresh.

My mom brought me here for lunch. Really great food and service. It has a nice little area with patio seating. The server was very attentive and even brought us some of their homemade hot sauce! Delicious.

We researched Mexican restaurants in the area and saw the awesome reviews for Maguey’s so we made a 30 minutes drive just to try it.

We regularly enjoy Mexican food at a number of places in the greater Puget Sound area, and as such, Maguey’s was an interesting and very mixed experience for us. SERVICE: Lots of 5 star reviews brought us in (passing through town on a hiking day), and while the service was consistently friendly throughout our visit, it was often difficult to get a server’s attention, and the time between visits to our table were surprisingly long. EXCELLENT: Nothing we had was oversalted, and all the veg ingredients seemed fresh and of high quality. GOOD: Fajita chicken, onions, and peppers were tasty, as were the veg for my daughter’s veggie fajita (though the flour tortillas were rather small and stiff, not fresh). JUST OK: Our 3 dessert items were all “OK,” but not good enough to order again. Refried beans were also OK, but not memorable. DISAPPOINTING: Chips were not warm, and salsa, beans, and veg dips were all less flavorful than we are used to in other places (beans were bland, salsa liquidy & less spicy than we hoped for). The rice served with our meals had clearly been sitting in a warmer for a long time and was bland, clumpy, and stiff and only barely warm when the sizzling fajita skillets arrived. VERY DISAPPOINTING: My wife’s seafood enchiladas were unlike any we have seen anywhere else. Barely cooked veg ingredients were mixed with cooked salad-sized baby shrimp and imitation crab meat. The assembled enchiladas were clearly not baked, and there was VERY little sauce covering only a part of the stiff tortillas. This was a very unusual and not appetizing version of an enchilada, and my wife did not finish them. OVERALL: I felt genuinely convinced that everyone working here sincerely wanted their guests to have a great experience, but either we caught the kitchen on an off day, or their understanding of the cuisine is very different than what we have experienced elsewhere. Locals clearly love it (busy and lots of 5 star reviews), but we will not be back.

Great FRIENDLY service and GREAT dinner! A real gem especially after getting off Rainier and not expecting anything to be open. We were made to feel welcome and not rushed even though we arrived near closing time. Can’t recommend enough.

Good food. Great staff. If you’re in the area and looking for a hidden gem so to speak check this place out. One of the few places we have found that reminds us of the places back home. Real unsweetened ice tea is just a nice bonus on top.
