Today was such a wonderful dining experience. Virginia was super knowledgeable and really friendly and accommodating. The portion sizes for the prices were great. The drinks tasted wonderful as well as the food. The food runner was in great spirits too. Everyone seemed to be happy to be there and I appreciated that. Thank you mad Mex lakeside!! Always a great experience.

My wife and I had not been to Mad Mex in quite some time. We stopped for lunch on a cold winter day.
We both had the wing o wraps with waffle fries. It was tasty and a good size portion for the price.
The service was decent, not great.
The area that stood out was the temperature of the place. It was very cold in the bar area. Almost all of the customers kept their winter coats on while eating. You could feel a draft through the wall we were seated next to, so cold we moved to a high top. Before leaving we each hit the restroom where it had to have been at least 15 degrees warmer. Not sure what is up with their hvac, but it needs addressed.

What a disappointment. Clearly the management has no idea what it takes to staff up and run a restaurant properly. With plenty of empty tables, you would think getting seated should be less than a 20 minute ordeal. But then again it’s pretty hard to seat anyone when there are only 2 servers on the entire floor for a Sunday at dinner, and one of the severs is mid-training.
If that isn’t bad enough, the kitchen was super slow – people sat down, ate, and left before our food even showed up. And it was rough. Fried chicken tacos were almost charred.
And then the attitude of the bartender compared to nobody I’ve ever met in the service industry. Total lack of care toward anyone or anything.
At least the server (and server in training) tried to be as nice as possible amidst running through every table in the restaurant.
I don’t think I’ll be back, nor would I recommend anyone else going until they can straighten out their issues.

I adore this place. They have vegan cheese and vegan sour cream and they always play the best music. There’s a ton of stuff that always looks amazing on the menu, but I end up getting the tofu tacos every time. Their tofu is so unique and delicious.

Guacamole was fabulous & the nacho cheese was spicy with a hint of hot
Dancing …. Something was unique (portobello mushrooms with black beans & rice )
Taco trio was also great .
The atmosphere there was skeletons with a twist . Fantastic outside dining . On tap beers we’re half price along with the wings weekdays 4:30-6:30 pm .

We got waited on right away, and our server was very attentive. We got our drinks and chips very quickly and she took our orders. The meals were very good and everyone was satisfied. It was a good experience with no problems.

This was probably the worst dining experience of my life, if I could give the food and atmosphere a 0 I would. Our server was great, though. I ordered the Birria tacos and it was literally beef jerky. Super dry and not good. Not to mention the worst part, they had this incredibly weird and disrespectful crucifix of Jesus right by the bathrooms, even if you don’t care about that kind of thing it’s pretty uncomfortable and unnecessary for a place that’s supposed to serve decent Mexican food. They also had another super weird “decoration” of an angel and a demon making out. What a disgrace.

We had such an amazing experience at Mad Mex! Not only was the food absolutely delicious and came out super fast, but the service was beyond special. Our daughter, who is 8 and deaf, was trying to tell me her order when Keyona kindly stepped in and began communicating with her in ASL. That thoughtful gesture meant so much to us as parents it gave our daughter the chance to confidently order her own food. We are so grateful and will definitely be back to visit again!

This location has had a difficult time holding restaurants. Let’s hope Mad Mex is here to stay. It’s tucked behind most of the retail stores, buts it’s well worth taking the time to discover this hidden gem. Great food, good service and mega variety! Vegan options as well as Gluten Free. Make sure you bring your appetite, ’cause the portions are very large!

June 2022 update – More good things to say. We sat on the patio and had a fabulous evening. The Mahi Mahi tacos and Fajitas were considered first rate by all who ordered them! Sarah was our waitress and she livened the place up – she was great and was training someone. It was nice to see someone who was so engaged and engaging and could enjoy what she was doing. Kudos to her!

We tried one of the standard burritos and it’s the same as it always has been, which is a good thing. We also tried their new lettuce wraps which have a vegetarian chorizo. This was not good. The chorizo did not taste much like chorizo – instead it tasted like some sort of dried and crumbly something or other. The iceberg lettuce given was also not the best selection for use as a wrap and the avocado sauce was so overpowered by the lime juice they used that we basically left it untouched after we tasted a small sample. Not a dish we will try again.
