The MacLeay Inn is a time capsule, offering a dining environment & experience you will seldom get anymore. The staff were exceedingly friendly! The food was unpretentious but prepared with care.
Just a short drive from Salem in an enchanting pocket of rural community. The dinner rush seems to come early, so maybe slip in after (I dined around 7pm on Saturday and it was clearing out). Though busy, the staff were very receptive to any questions or requests: just ask for what you need.

We ordered a burger and fries and a Reuben sandwich and tater tots. Service was excellent! The burger charbroil tasted excellent. The Reuben sandwich was equally good. Presentation of both lunches was lacking. Fries and tater tots were good, but not five stars. The restaurant was very clean throughout.

A wonderful place, filled with the atmosphere of the old Willamette Valley, with nicely preserved or restored artwork, furnishings, and windows all round the dining area. The dining area and fireplace are separated from a lounge area by a physical barrier, so that those who are looking for a more casual environment, with TVs and a nearby bar, can spend their time there. We arrived with friends who recommended the Inn, and we were not disappointed when we arrived. The dining area was all ours, and the service was excellent and ambience was appropriately historical. Highly recommended.

This place has a unique feel and vibe. Food was pretty good. I got the rib eye and my wife got the fish and chips. My steak was supposed to be medium but it was a little on the raw side. I didn’t mind but for those who haven’t been here keep that in mind. It was still good! It was very busy and they seemed a little short staffed so this may have had a roll in how our dinner went. Hopefully we can come back on a slower night.

I was so excited to try this cute little place. My friends had find memories years ago. I was invited to go with them to celebrate their 64th wedding anniversary. Expecting a nice prime rib dinner. We ordered salad prior to dinner and I had a glass of wine
The atmoywas warm and unique, the staff was very friendly and accommodating.
We all ordered the prime rib. That’s where the experience went south. The prime rib was cooked perfectly and was a nice piece of meat. Unfortunately, it had absolutely NO flavor, none. The baked potato I ordered loaded was hard, not cooked thoroughly. The cheese on the potatoes was cooked so long, it was like a hard cheese chip!
The servers tried to make it right by taking our drinks off the bill and offering a different side to replace the potato.
The staff knew the potatoes were hard and served them anyway. They said someone dropped the ball in the potatoes. Then why serve them?
I’d like to say I’ll be back, but if the prime rib has absolutely no seasoning, I fought any thing coming from the kitchen has seasoning. I don’t know.
I would never serve food like what I received!
Hope they get the good quality fixed. There’s too many other places to spend a special occasion.

I had the burger and tots. Tots were good. The burger was delicious . Ranch sauce was good. We were in a group of six, by an old fireplace. The place is sectioned in half. A restaurant and a lounge. The lounge had video poker. Looks like it would be a good place for traditional poker because of the atmosphere. Food was reasonably priced. Friday night they have prime rib and Wednesday all you can eat fish and chips. I may check it out later. There is a quaint little old fashioned store right next to it.
Wasn’t to busy on Sunday afternoon.

The vibe in here made us feel at home, the meal was extremely tasty and filling, more than enough. Our servers were kind and made us feel very welcome, recommending dessert locations and helping us find other places to visit while in the area.

Looked like a nice local place to go. Service was really slow, didn’t get our order taken for about 15 to 20 min. Wasn’t even our original waitress. Then waiting for our food for about 10 min they came back and said they were out of potatoes. Then we got our steaks and it was half fat. They never did bring the A1 sauce we asked for. The French onion soup was good, that’s about it. Won’t be going back.
