In 2011, during a depressed economy, Francisco & Linda Perez and son Cisco looking for the perfect location to build Luna Modern Mexican Kitchen, came across an abandoned restaurant in a rather unique location, with very little external presence in Corona, Ca. From the moment Francisco walked into the building, his years in the restaurant industry, his passion for people, food, and drink, and his gut instinct confirmed that this was the place where he and his son would make their dream come true. After 5 years of success and building an outstanding reputation within the Inland Empire, the family set out to expand their dream by opening a second location. In 2015 the vision came to fruition.
Splashy Mexican eatery features a steel & glass bar, refined menu & vibrant tequila display.

I‘ve been surprised what was awaiting me.
We experienced a very intimate & decent yet nice service. Just the amount of attention which was needed.
The food was delicious, flavorful & freshly prepared.
The cocktails we enjoyed were handcrafted & pleasant to the taste.
I can definitely recommend this place.
From the moment we walked in, the staff treated us like we were the ones graduating with honors. Service was on point the entire night — friendly, attentive, and somehow always appearing right when we needed something. They really made the evening feel special.
The food? A+ across the board. Every dish looked like it belonged in a magazine and tasted even better. Fresh flavors, beautiful presentation, and portions. The appetizers disappeared in seconds, and every entrée earned its own little round of applause at the table.
And the atmosphere — warm lighting, modern décor, and just the right amount of “wow” without being over the top. It felt like a celebration without us even trying.
Luna Modern Mexican Kitchen helped turn a special family milestone into an unforgettable night. Highly recommend for any big event, fancy dinner, or moment you want to make memorable.
We’ll definitely be back… maybe without a graduation as an excuse next time. ✨ ️
The fish tacos from the entree were burnt on top, so they tasted bad.
July 2025 I came for brunch with 20 friends. Reserved weeks ahead. . The air conditioner had problems a few days before, so the restaurant was hot for 2/3 of our visit. Nice waiter opened the door to get a breeze, but it was a warm afternoon. Air conditioner eventually started working after an hour and a half… They could have called to let us know the Air wasn’t working to give us the option of canceling…
We should have had more servers, but the 1 older gentleman did a great job.
I asked 4x for water for the entire table. Finally I walked over to the bar, asked the bartender if HE could give me water for the table. Imagine: 21 women, all over 50. He gave me 2 glasses of water, when I asked for more, he said,”You want water for ALL the ladies? Your server will get that for you.” It took another 20 minutes to get water . Music was too loud: asked 3x if they could turn it down: They said no. I asked for pitchers of water for entire group, waiter apologized for the delay, said he’d get glasses of water & he finally explained there were 2 large groups, us & a family after baptism of baby & they were short staffed that day! A few servers called off work. Not enough room at slender tables to place pitchers at the table. 21 menopausal women NEED water! Food choices were on the small side for brunch. I ordered shrimp paella. Tasted good, just didn’t fill me. I asked our group, everyone felt there wasn’t enough food on plates to fill us up.
August 2025: 14 family members came, I called ahead of time, said we are coming for happy hour. When we arrived @2:30 we were told “For happy hour you must stay on the tile floor, or sit at the bar in booths” No tables were reserved for us even though I called ahead. There is a carpeted area with tables that would have accommodated all of us adjacent to bar area that was empty of people. They COULD have seated us there, & have done so in the past, but we were told, “You cannot DO happy hour from the carpet, if u sit THERE you MUST order off regular menu.” No one was sitting in that area.
First they seated us at a Hightop table for 8, of us were there,1 person sat at end of table. Staff came after we ordered drinks to say,”Sorry you cannot have 1 person sit at this side of table at the Hightop table, it’s a safety issue for staff, the manager says your group needs to move.” We moved to 2 booths in bar area that sat 4 each, we sat 6 in 1 booth, a bit tight-4 in another 2 at the bar & two at a 2 seater. I baked a cake & brought it. I was informed there was a $3.00 service charge per person for them to cut & serve the cake. 3×14=42 extra!!! We’ve been loyal customers for years & never heard of this charge. I was told “manager is FIRM on this policy…” I thought, hmm o.k. what ever!
Margaritas were weak! Food was ok. Not up to their usual standards. Should have been hotter when delivered to table! There was only 1 other group in bar area & regular restaurant was not busy. 1 of our party went out to his car, when he returned he saw a sign on the door saying “Restaurant is closing early tonight”. We asked about it: they said they just found out a staff member had died. I asked if we should pack up & leave, they said “No, just when you’re ready.” We were there about 30 minutes longer.
We love Luna’s & give our sincere condolences on the loss of your staff member.
