Luigi’s was always a special treat when I used to work in Concord regularly. The sandwiches were always delicious and the ingredients they use were always fresh. I found myself back in Concord and was so excited to grab lunch here. I ordered my usual (Pavorotti) because there’s nothing better than sprouts in a sandwich. I’m sorry to say it missed the mark this time.
1) The ambiance just wasn’t there. This is subjective, I know, but it does impact the overall experience. The staff was not very welcoming and you can tell they were just there for a paycheck. The lady who made my sandwich definitely looked like she didn’t want to be there.
2) The sandwhich consists of 5 components: garlic mayo, sprouts, tomatoes, turkey, and bacon. As you can see in the picture, there was hardly any sprouts. It was missing that fresh component to offset the strong garlic flavor of the mayo. Speaking of the mayo, I bit into a huge chunk of garlic, which threw me off as well. On a positive note, the dutch crunch seemed fresh and chewy.
Given the lack of sprouts and the sandwich only having 2 slices of bacon, I don’t think it’s worth the price.

Update: 2025 Under new ownership. The girl behind the counter was amazingly friendly and helpful. I made my own sandwich, Turkey, Roast beef, bacon, sprouts, lettuce, onion and mayo on Sourdough till. Huge sandwich, only $12.50! One half was enough for one sitting! It was delicious! If you haven’t been here, do yourself a favor and get in your car right now!
This place is, and always has been, a gem. The food is always amazing, their sandwiches and hot food blow my mind everytime. I have a lot of food allergies and they worked with me so easily and never once did they make me feel like I was being difficult! I had a dagwood with no cheese or tomato. Soooo good! The ladies in there are so nice! I’ll definitely be back!

My sandwich appeared to be big at first but the contents were fairly small. I even noticed that my sandwich was missing tomatoes half way through, I was distracted by the amount of bread I had to chew that I didn’t notice the missing tomatoes. The taste is great but the contents were not a lot.

I stopped in hearing excellent recommendations for this Delicatessen. I was impressed. The staff was friendly and welcoming. They use fresh ingredients and it’s made to order. Thank you for the great experience.

My sandwich was fantastic, but my boyfriend’s sandwich was disgusting…so Luigi’s gets 3 ☆. I had the Tuscan Veggie on sourdough. The veggies, cheese and spread worked beautifully together. I knew the sourdough wasn’t the best choice for Italian fillings but I had a feeling the bread would be authentic here, and I was happy to be right! The roll was humongous, chewy and sour! The fillings didn’t all squeeze out the back either! However, my boyfriend ordered the crab melt. When the order came it looked fabulous and it was a huge portion. But it was IMITATION CRAB!!! It wasn’t even edible. Here’s a tip Luigi’s: get real crab, cut the portion in half, charge the same amount. Then we’ll come back.

I’m shocked they have a 4.4 rating. The sandwiches were disappointing—both in taste and in presentation. The toppings were barely there, and what was added was all piled on one side. The coleslaw had a really weird flavor, like none I ever had, and I really like coleslaw. It was inedible!

Atmosphere is a little down, they need some background music, but sandwiches and servings are great and taste as good as always.

Been coming here for years and something is just wrong here now. Looks like they are going out of business with lots of holes in the store where food used to be. Sandwiches used to be so good and so full of meat. I just got a breadwich. They even said they put in extra meat because they didn’t have bacon. Looks like they took more off. Not even sure the avocado on here counts as adding avocado. Tried to go back to speak with someone after getting home and saw this sad thing but they are only open 10am to 4pm and closed early. Sad to see this happening as this place was a favorite.

This used to be my favorite sandwich place and I have no idea what happened. I took 9 months off being pregnant and was so excited to have a sandwich from here again.
Sandwich used to be full of meat. Tasted off when I had it, like bad meat, and for the first time came in at noon with no line.
My husband bit into his and spit the bite out because there was some kind of piece of hard plastic in it. He didn’t eat anymore of it.
Service was super slow, used to that, but with no line and a pick up order it took 3 staff, and one in the back who saw me waiting, 5 mins to get to me.
Won’t be coming back, super bummed about it.

I remember the last time I was here about 5 years ago. The place was bubbly, with the music going, the owner and a bunch of Italians chatting, but walking in today, just seems dreary. I’m not sure if this place has changed owners/management because the store looks a bit rundown now. Anyway, my sandwich was alright. I always enjoyed their sweet roll, but where are the ingredients? It’s all bread. I hope the deli sticks around, cause whenever I’m in Concord I look forward to having a sandwich from here. I don’t have high hopes at this point.
