Food: got the family platter (half rack of ribs, burnt ends, ham, and brisket) everything was sent out and looked and tasted great! BBQ sauce was great too
Service: great multiple occasions the staff was walking around making sure everything was great
Atmosphere: order at the counter and sit down and wait for the server to bring food. A bit crowded when we got there but it was a great experience. Would recommend, no notes

Great BBQ. Huge portions and great prices. If you are in Des Moines you gotta go. It was also featured on DDD and the chicken wings are amazing. They were smoked and then the sauce added. The nachos were spectacular, order the half order because they are HUGE. We got the brisket on it (which was so moist and tasty), so ask for it since it didn’t show on the menu.

The food is good, the restaurant was great, and the service was top notch. I would like more seasoning on the meat and better variety of bbq sauces but they definitely know how to cook! The portions are down home country (meaning more than you need to get full). Worth the sit down if you want good BBQ.

Grandview Football Has Been Eating Well This Season!
Grandview Football has been fueled by some amazing local establishments this season — both conveniently located right close to campus!
In August, to wrap up football camp, Smokey D’s BBQ catered a fantastic feast featuring pulled pork, chicken, potato casserole, macaroni and cheese, and cherry crisp. Everything was delivered right on time and tasted absolutely fantastic. Smokey D’s handled every detail — from table service and serving utensils to sauces — leaving us to simply provide drinks. The owner, Darren, even called personally to offer guidance and help with pricing. Fortunately we over-ordered and the parents got to enjoy some leftovers the following weekend!

Stay away from the potato salad, the potatoes are not completely cooked, way too much mayonnaise. The cornbread muffins are entirely too sweet…like cake. The baked beans were delicious, the brisket was ok. The burnt ends were fire! And the sauce was good. Would I go here again? If someone else was paying, yes. My treat, no.

We were on an over night trip looking for the best breaded pork tenderloin. Had high hopes for it but it was the bottom of the ones we tried. The BBQ however totally made the trip worth it. Got the rib plate with potato casserole and the cucumber onion slaw. So. Good. Would definitely stop again when coming thru for the bbq!! Very friendly staff.

Everyone was Soooooooooo nice & helpful! 1st time here and ordered burnt ends, brisket, and jalapeños & cheddar sausage. Couldn’t decide between sweet& sassy or fiery bbq sauce so mixed them. DELICIOUS!!! Garlic bread was meh but the corn bread was heaven. Never had burnt ends so tender and juicy either. Amazing place to eat!

I got a dinner basket with double Brisket- it was well worth it!! Quite delicious. The side salad as a side was great! The cottage cheese I got for a side was okay.
The corn bread was very very good!
I can’t wait to bring my family here and try some Nachos and other things as well!

Great choices! Talk about a lot of choices of award winning BBQ! Pork, chicken and beef for sure, great fries and yessss cornbread. And the prices are terrific. Be prepared to wait in line… If you can find a parking spot 🙂 always a great indicator of a great place to eat. We had lunch there and it was fabulous. So much food for such a good price. I don’t think they have anything not worth devouring on the menu. This is a locals place that is worth visiting no matter where or who you’re from
